Re: monocore machining?
Seems like it is overly complicated and will add significantly to the time to manufacture each monocore. Very labor intensive to access that jig and unbolt/rebolt each one of those caps as you machine each cavity.

Re: monocore machining?
What are the circles, just inside the row of bolts? Those holes are in the jig to allow machining of the scallops tangential to the OD of the monocore. See the isometric view of the monocore, and of the jig below. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/FastIndy/AR/SD2010ExplodedSectionREV.jpg http:/...

Re: Second suppressor project: 45-70 handi rifle
I'm not sure if you're asking me if I did it, or if you missed a word and asking how much it cost. I didn't do it myself, I took it to a local FFL 07/02, Dobbs Defense . Barrel removal & threading was $150 from the local shop. If I had pulled the barrel they would have charged only $100. Now tha...

Re: Second suppressor project: 45-70 handi rifle
I also have a real Marlin 45-70 rifle (before the Rem acquisition), but those are a "little" harder to suppress due to the front sight "being in the way" :) Will I also have a real Marlin 1895 that I've suppressed. I had the barrel cut back & threaded, and a new dovetail for...

Typically .45ACP barrels are going to be .578-28 unless it is a metric barrel then it will be 16x1 which you probably already know since you have the HK45.

Re: Tirant 9mm or Rugged Obsidian 45 for 9mm
A couple of people on this forum have commented that the Obsidian has a noticeable FRP. Is this also noticed with the Octane 45? They both seem pretty similar in design and construction so I would be surprised if there was much of a difference. I don't notice one from my Octane9. That is strange, I...

I don't have any experience with either of those cans either. I've had hands on with an Octane and Obsidian. Very happy with both of those. Here's a list of what's out there right now. http://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/threads/best-45acp-suppressor-on-market.1062000/page-2#post-5331161 From that summ...

Re: Leidenfrost Effect for Next Generation Baffle Surfaces?
Honestly it's hard to imagine anything that would revolutionize silencer designs. While there are many distinct challenges involved the general physics is well known. The heat and fouling involved also limits both usable materials and the design. Yeah, it's all about volume. Projectile noise can be...

Yeah, SilencerCo has been sending out emails about the HPA. I like the kicker that states you'll get a refund for any tax stamps that you've paid for since the bill was introduced in October 2015.

What about using the pistons and SPACER from SiCo on the Obsidian? Would rather not use the fixed MOUNT because wanna keep the piston grooves from gettin fouled more than necessary...anybody try this yet, or confirm with Rugged? When you say "piston grooves" do you mean the 3 grooves on t...

Re: HK UMP 45 / SIG MPX suppressor?
I have a AR45 SBR that I use an Octane on. No experience with any of the cans you have listed. I also have used a Rugged Obsidian on it, and it worked just as well as the Octane. I liked that the pistons/mounts are interchangeable between the two cans, and that they are both user serviceable designs...

No experience with the KAC, but I have an Octane45 in hand, and an Obsidian waiting on papers. I really like my Octane, I had a chance to shoot the Obsidian at a demo day, and that was as good as the Octane. Haven't had a chance to shoot them side by side though. Here's a pretty comprehensive list o...

Re: Rules for making a 12ga silencer
By the way, I don't see it mentioned above, but since you are self admittedly brand new to this. All technical reasons aside, DO NOT make a suppressor or suppressor parts until you have completed a Form 1 and have had it approved by the ATF. Re: Rules for making a 12ga silencer
I don't know the answer to your question, but that drawing baffles me. Assuming the measurements shown are supposed to be in inches, they recommended: - a .375" ID pipe for a .452" projectile - a .25" ID pipe for a .357" projectile - a .25" ID pipe for a .356" projectil...

Re: 458 socom Silencerco Hybrid SBR sanity check
I've only fired sub & supersonic .45-70 from a 16"bbl through a Hybrid, and that was OK (sound-wise). Have also fired sub .45-70 through an Octane, and that's nice sounding too. Other manufacturers of .458 cans never mention bbl length... Liberty's site says regarding the Cosmic, which is a...
