Re: 223 Gold Dot on Deer
nice one, it baffles me that people say its not enough for deer even with modern bullets but say its enough for humans with a 200 year old bullet design (FMJ) I don't know anyone that thinks the 5.56mm is enough round for combat. I have a picture of a Hi-Lux I lit up with a PFC in Baghdad. We each ...

Re: 223 Gold Dot on Deer
I killed my first deer ever last season using a 5.56 from my 16.1" DDM4. The entrance broke 3 ribs, the heart and lungs were severely damaged, and the exit took out another 2 ribs. Shot her behind the shoulder, text book. She took off down a hill and made it 70 yards before flopping over lifele...

Re: 5.56 SBR barrel length question
A 14.5" barrel weapon with a Surefire or AAC "Mini" will be quieter at the shooter's ear, have a 200+fps advantage, and be more gentle on every component of the system compared to a 10.3" gun with a Specwar 762. It will only be 1.5-2" longer and weight about the same, not co...

Re: Damage from installing silencer?
I'm running a suppressor on a 10.3" barrel. Have had no issues except as of yesterday it double fed 7 times. I'm thinking a pipe cleaner through the gas tube may clear tha problem...unless someone has a better solution to offer. Yes. Doublefeeds are a magazine problem, and never stick s--t in ...

Both are good choices. The SF can you mentioned will meter in the mid 130's based on all of the data I have seen. Can't beat either company's support.

Re: Shorty 5.56 cans
Mini4, but still need ear pro. Oh I have no delusions about using a moderator, which is what these short cans really are on the 5.56. Still, if you had to shoot a guy in your house, would you want an A2 at the end of your carbine, or a moderator. I think I'd want the moderator on that thar weapon. ...

10.3" gov profile barrel with 0.081" gas port?
Would this be over-gassed for the below application? I want to run it with an H2 buffer and mil-spec action spring. It would see cheap MFS/Wolf ammo without a suppressor, as well as M855 with a suppressor and may see very limited use on an M16 lower, suppressed. Would the gas-port size be the best c...

Have you heard the mini at all on a 300BLK? If so, obviously not side-by-side, but was it close enough to be half-dozen-one-or-the-other?SC-Texas wrote:I wish I could tell you that. But I didn't hear it next to the mini

Re: Which will be the most effective muzzle device?
A very casual comparison of 5 RD at a time, three cycles each, outdoors, at high noon. No opportunity to observe flash. Note that all three have a 14.5" barrel. The results may well vary with barrel length. The MAMS had an almost complete lack of muzzle movement but with more felt recoil than ...

Re: socom can and 300blk....anyone shot it?
Very nice! Have you fired supersonic ammo through it? How does that compare to your MK1 Ear with 5.56 and a full-size Surefire 5.56 can? Also, what length is that barrel? How "nose-heavy" is that setup compared to a 16.1" carbine without a can? Do they feel similar if held at the sam...

Re: SF SOCOM 7.62-MG?
Dealer got SOCOM762-MG apparently by mistake. Question, the only mounting solution appears to be for FN 240, that correct? Was just curious to see if there was major difference in this can other than durability. I wonder what the chances are SureFire would make modify the 240 mount to accommodate a...

I've shot mine with the FA762SS. Accuracy was surprisingly good at 100 yards with off-the-shelf ammo, with the 220 SMK going 1.2": http://photos.imageevent.com/mstn/suppressedonlyuppers/huge/IMG_1806.JPG http://photos.imageevent.com/mstn/suppressedonlyuppers/huge/IMG_1804.JPG As far as sound r...

Mainly I'm curious about sound signature fullsize RC.vs. the Mini. Is the fullsize can quieter with supersonic ammo or are they indistinguishable, or what?

This is a video from surefire. Is this still the best method? Is this better than, or ok as well as a barrel block setup?

Re: What Happened to the AAC SR7?
The mount was a horrible idea, what with two friction-inducing tapered surfaces and the heat/carbon and all. They would have had people using strap-wrenches and unscrewing mounts left and right. Kudos to them for not putting it out, and I hope they are fixing their mounts and coming out with somethi...

Indeed. Maybe some people would prefer that the .gov set the price of every trade/sale good so that we wouldn't have to deal with that evil capitalism thing.Sdustin wrote:Seems to be a lot of capitalist around these days.

GoingQuiet thats nice that you didnt pay any more for the first as you did the last but you happily take advantage of people by making over a grand, pretty much a dick move if you ask me. I spoke with SureFire about this. I was told that this is a non-issue and that after I clean my weapon and the blast chamber to assure it doesn't become carbon welded on, I can happily store it "assembled" with no issue what-so-ever. I assume that if this WERE an issue with a "chambe...
