Re: integral 10/22- what size outer tube and material?

I used a 1"x.060 316 tube, bought a KIDD pistol barrel and turned it down to a press fit, then pinned and welded the tube to the barrel. Bored out a shrewd muzzle brake and threaded it to be my endcap. I have a foam insert to act as a wiper. The first baffle is Ti the rest are 7075 AL. It turn...

Re: Completed form 1 5.56 NATO build

Bore the cones the other way around and use a boring bar for the inside and a standard cutting for the outside. I wouldn't leave all that material especially if you are just going to use a spacer anyway, that's a lot of wasted effort. This will ensure uniform baffle thickness, and greatly reduce the...

Re: High speed suppressor video

By virtue of my job I have access to some high speed cameras so I used on this weekend to film my From 1 45 ACP suppressor cycling on my 1911. The spring in the booster was just a wild ass guess for spring and mostly chosen cause it fit the dimensions I needed. It worked 100% from day 1 but I was n...

Re: FN "baby browning" diy projekt, make adapter and silencer.

That's exactly the problem I had. I made a threaded sleeve with a .265 bore, threaded .335x40 on the inside of the barrel and .500x28 on the outside. After only a few shots it broke just past the slide. It may be possible that I had bad stainless or I didn't do it well, but it never made it through...

Anoyone know how far this distance is? http://i57.tinypic.com/dvlo9l.jpg It's been a while since I had a Baby Browning in my hands but remember how thin the barrel is.A measure of the outside diameter with a micrometer will give you a idea of what threads could be used on the muzzle side of the ada...

Re: .065" wall safe for 316L 308 can?

Thanks guys, that's what I needed. Thought about plug welding all the baffles, but I'm only set up for MIG, no TIG, and figured all the MIG plug welds on the outer tube would weaken it too much. I'm planning to use thin (.049" wall) aluminum tube for baffle spacers with no skirts on the cones;...

Re: "No Machining Required" Form 1 Build?

I've researched these for military guys traveling abroad. You can leave usa with a kit of parts that fit together downrange in a war zone and leave the can there and not return with it. Some possible recipes: NOTE: some basic tools will allow a much cheaper and better option than these recipes, but...

Your approach to sharing your build is odd, that's all. It's a bit like showing some ankle... then dropping your skirt hem in false modesty. You started a thread, apparently with the intention of sharing information, then you stopped. That doesn't merit further discussion from the rest of it does i...

I agree, I'd use 28 tpi in whatever diameter is appropriate, and .050-.065" aluminum tubing. 6061 is fine too, and easier to anodize. Do you know what the spindle bore diameter is on your lathe? I have threaded a number of 10/22 barrels on my 9" South Bend, and the spindle bore is too sma...

I choose stainless for 2 reasons. 1. With the current rules once its built your done. No modifications, no repairs, no replacement parts, nada. Stainless is a lot more robust that aluminum and will last a lot longer. Stainless can also be made much thinner than aluminum and be much stronger, albeit...

What's the dimensions of your can and what material for the end cap? If its 1.5"x5" versus 1.5"x12" my answer will change. All in all, I personally think its a tad too thin. I'd want 0.050 or so.

Pointy 60 degree cones. 1.5" tubing with a .049" wall from Online Metals in Seattle. I'll reduce the thickness of the tubing beyond the blast chamber to .035". The baffle stack will be welded to the front end cap to keep it all in place. Ranb 0.035 seems awfully thin to me. The weigh...

My understanding is that the tube with the serial number is the silencer, much like the frame of a firearm with the serial number is the firearm.
