Not a M1A but close enough?
I couldnt find a better place to post this so here it is. It's on a few other forums too but I wanted to show SilencerTalk some love. Just got my Mini 6.8 back from "The Gun Doc" at Great West Gunsmithing and man am I pleased! I had his "Package B" done - action bedded, trigger j...

Re: 762-SDN-6 on M1A questions
I finished an almost identical project earlier this year. I had the Schuster gas plug but it came offly close to where the back of my SDN-6 would be when mounted. I switched to a Smith Enterprises M14 SOCOM Gas Plug and it works great. I also added a blank firing gas shield and drilled a few extra h...

Re: Finally got my SDN-6
Mine is from the fist batch shipped a year 1/2 ago, like you all the mounts fit great. I like the size and weight for being steel and 308. What barrel length and hand guard you got there? I'm building a 300 blk Noveske 8.2" pistol right now. Its a 8.5" CMMG with their Revolution Hand Guar...

Finally got my SDN-6
I've only got crappy cell phone pics right now but I'll post more after the weekend. Good news for anyone skeptical about the SDN-6 mounting system. I put the can on a 5.56 Blackout FH and a 5.56 Brakeout, a 7.62 Blackout FH, a 7.62 Brakeout, and a 7.62 Muzzle brake and the can was solid on all the ...

Re: How to know if your latch is good to go?
I had the bad latch ( non heat treated ) issue on my M4-2K. Called them up and they took care of me with no problems. Even wrote me a nice thank you note on some really cool embossed letter head with the skull and cross guns logo. I would recommend indexing the latch to some point on your rail or h...

How to know if your latch is good to go?
I have been reading a few posts about some who have experienced premature wear on the latch of their SDN-6/M4-2000 and that it is due to a run of latches that were not properly hardened. Has AAC released the serial number range that this may affect? I have a SDN-6 that should be approved any day now...

Re: Longest period of time to get Form 3?
Bought my SDN-6 from my dealer mid-February 2011. He had to order it from his distributer. He got the Form 3 back the end of June 2011. It went pending July 31st and I'm still waiting...

Re: shallow 51t blackout 762
Went with a brakeout on mine and love it. I haven't really noticed the extra noise from the brake. .308 out of a 20" barrel is loud no matter what...unless you've got a can. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh41/uvausmc/IMG_2378.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh41/uvausmc/IMG_2379.jpg

Re: Options for mounting a can on M1A/M14?
I went with an AAC Blackout FH threaded for the M1A. I stumbled on it at MidwayUSA and may have gotten the last one. After I ordered it I looked again and they were sold out. I changed the gas plug to the SOCOM model by Smith Enterprises (designed for use with suppressors). I also had to switch to t...

Re: Mount Clearance for SDN6 on M1A?
Problem Solved. The Smith Enterprises SOCOM Gas plug is a perfect fit. It gives about 3/16" between the edge of the gas plug and where the back of the suppressor will be. I'll give a range report as soon as a I can to report how the new plug functions. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh41/uv...

Yeah i have been stalking you on the forums and seen your pics before. They are part of the reason i decided to suppress mine. By controversy i meant that there is a lot of different opinion on whether its worth suppressing an M1A.

Re: Mount Clearance for SDN6 on M1A?
Well nobody replied but I think I figured out a solution. I got with Cade at AAC and he suggested switching to the Smith Enterprises M14 SOCOM gas plug. It's much shorter and designed for suppressor use. Thanks AAC.

Mount Clearance for SDN6 on M1A?
I got a Schuster Gas plug and Blackout flash hider mount for my M1A and after I got it all installed I noticed the clearance between the mount and gas plug is really close. I am still waiting on my stamp for my SDN6 but I'm concerned it won't fit on the mount all the way. Is it going to work? If not...

I emailed AAC last week and got a quick response. He said they are planning on shipping them out by the end of this month. I pre-ordered mine in March so I'm hoping they dont get pushed back again. Here is the email: Thanks for the email and support! None of the Handi-Rifles have shipped as of yet. ...

Re: AAC 7.62 muzzle brake???
Has anyone compared the performance of the AAC brake against anything else out there? I am interested in using it on a 18" JP LRP-07 for competition but adding my 762-SDN-6 can when not competing. Competition limits brakes to 1" x 3".... I think the AAC brake is closer to 3/4" x...
