Re: Question regarding accuracy when shooting suppressed
Yes it is normal. The suppressor changes the barrel harmonics. Best solution...always shoot with the can on.

Re: Gunsmith threading on a .675 inch barrel......need advic
Same issue last year with my son's 7mm-08. #1 sporter contour barrel and can with 5/8-24 threads. Barrel threaded to 1/2-28 and then ordered 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 adapter from Mark at TROS-USA. Perfect solution. $45 for threading and $75 for adapter with thread protector.

Re: Locking up silencers
Unless you expect to get broken into then I'd just get a little pistol lock box if you feel the need to lock it up. Otherwise, just stash it somewhere. If you do expect to get broken into, keep it on your gun that is locked and loaded. Much better to shoot indoors at night with a can than without. :...

Re: 300 weatherby
My 300 Wby MkV has a muzzle brake. I haven't taken it off but my understanding from Weatherby is that the threads are 1/2-28 on a #1 contour barrel. If I was going to suppress, I'd get a 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 adapter, twist on can and shoot. I had to do this on my 7mm-08, works great. I talked to a class...

Re: 300 weatherby
Ask the manufacturer of your favorite cans if their 30 cal can will handle a 300 weatherby. Lots of gas to eat for a standard 30 cal can. I thought about suppressing my 300 weatherby and asked AAC, they suggested using a can rated for 338 lapua (Titan). Do it and then post results.

Just bought it eh? Well, you'll have plenty of time to think about what host to put it on. Kidding aside, if you like your Glock, get an extended barrel for it and go for it.

Re: Interesting ad in Guns and Ammo..
That Hero "solvent trap" better come with a form 4. There is already a well known, and ATF tracked widget very, very similar to that one for oil can suppressors. ATF has no sense of humor so why tempt them unless you have an extra $10k and 5 ish years to waste in the pokey thinking about y...

Re: First Suppressor Purchases: I got alot of questions. Hel
First off, buy all the cans you want/are able to buy...they are fun to shoot. I happen to like AAC and Silencerco cans, AAC Cyclone for 7.62 cal and Silencerco for 22 cal. I've shot .223 through my Cyclone and there's very little sound difference between 7.62 supers and 5.56 supers. To my ears, more...

Re: AAC Cyclone, and 18" Rem 700 .308?
No problem. You might see a slight loss in fps compared to a 20" but if your shooting subs, so what. Won't hurt that Cyclone feeding it supers from a short barrel.

Re: Trying to thread a .270 Winchester but only have .683"
Bird - Good to know. Do you worry about the 1/2x28 not being strong enough ( isn't this the reason why 308 suppressors have 5/8 x 24?)? If I could get it cut to 1/2x28 then get an adapter to 5/8 x 24, I would be set There's more than enough 'meat' on the barrel to support my AAC Cyclone (which is a...

Re: Trying to thread a .270 Winchester but only have .683"
Had the same issue with my son's 7mm-08. The machinist, who also happens to be a 07/02SOT, suggested to have the barrel threaded to 1/2x28 to provide plenty of shoulder and then get a threaded adapter to 5/8x24. Cheap and easy fix that works great.

Re: Subsonic Hunting Rifle Considerations
Nitpick away. Ultimately, we are doing something that the .308 cartridge was never designed to do. Every bit of info we can figure out is a step forward. I do believe that there are much better cartridges for subsonic hunting than .308 but it's availability and versatility makes is a good choice for...

Re: Remington LTR 308 1-12 Twist Advice on Subsonic Bullet
I would agree with above posts about not going over 170 or 180 grains with that slower twist. That being said, I'd suggest using a flat base bullet rather than a boat tail. There is more surface on a flat base bullet (even more on a round nose) than at boat tail or at the extreme, a VLD, that is eng...

I've been carrying the LCP for a couple years now and have made a few mods to mine. First, I polished all moving parts and the feed ramp with Flitz to smooth things up a bit. Since I have pretty big hands, I added a grip extension from Pierce Grips, which is a bit longer than the Ruger supplied exte...

I just loaded some 180 grain round nose Sierra's with 10.5 grains of Trail boss and Federal large magnum primers. OAL finished was 2.753" which left about 0.015" of freebore. Very stable in flight through 20" 1:10 barrel. Didn't have time to chrono them but will try next weekend to ch...
