Re: What guns do you own, and why?

I recently moved from Kentucky to Alaska. I had been paring down my collection to arms that I use and carry everyday. A gun is useless when you dont caryy it. I have also oriented around the 35 caliber. It seems to me to lend itself to a good balance between penetration, meplat, available weights an...

Re: My Gun Saved My Life!

My gun saved my life in Detroit. I had just delivered my load and had bob-tailed down to a little city park that had a stream running through it. I bought a one day fishing license online and was just passing the time. I didn't bring my 1911 with me because my wife was in the truck. I was depending ...

Re: pinned mk 3

I dont know what the actual model was. It was a modified bolt catch that held the closed if it was pushed up while the bolt was in battery. It basically kept the bolt from cycling. Anyhow.. has any one seen a bolt catch modified on a MK3 that would do the same thing. I would like to buy one if its a...

Re: Dumb question about threads

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Thread_Standard This should explain everything you need to get started. The one thing that I will say is that your nominal (named) size and your actual tap size will be different. It depends on the thread type as to the tap size for an internal thread. coarser th...

Re: Suppressor Fu...

Yup. That math stuff is junk. Absolutely unproven " theory ". You should concentrate on copying some other design that you know works. Those computers that they use to calculate all that " math " is just a money scam to get you to buy a computer. No need for 3D modeling or finite...

Ruger is making these cool little pistols with factory threaded barrels and a nice little knurled thread protector with it. Once upon a time i saw a Browning 22 that had the bolt catch modified so that you could engage it while the bolt was closed. That way it would keep the bolt from cycling (for t...

Re: HEAVY .357 sub sonic load?

Start with 3.5 grains of blue dot. Low pressure, slow burn. More of a soft push than an explosion.BTW if you ever lodge a bullet in the bore because you didnt have enough powder. Put ten grains of black powder in a primed case, no bullet. Hold vertically and it should launch the bullet out. Make sur...

Re: Worst Design Ever

again Clevis, please read Wolfs post above... LavaRed does not sell designs tested or untested, you seem to have some issue with him for whatever reason, I have no idea why. Perhaps because he is an Industrial Engineer? Qualified where as yet you are not? Perhaps because he has prior experience and...

Re: Worst Design Ever

If, with my limited experience I started SELLING designs. Unproven designs. Someone built a suppressor with one of my designs and suffered a injury because of the design failure, you would all be standing in line to berate me. The thing that I focused on is "what qualifies this guy to sell desi...

Re: Worst Design Ever

And exactly what country is this? To say that suppressors nd suppressor design is anything other than hard science is to not understand the sciences that you are dealing with. As far as Google sketch versus solid works. You don't know much about CADD either. From where I stand you sound like you are...

Re: Worst Design Ever

Don't get me wrong. There are Lot of guys out there who own and run small shops and are machinists and who put out great products. But those guys don't try to pass themselves off as engineers. I guess thats what I take umbrage with. Trying to say you're something you're not and then to dupe someone ...

Re: Worst Design Ever

So what is an industrial engineer? I am a mechanical engineering student and I'm not sure where industrial engineer falls in line with schooling. Is it some sort of alternate schools two year program? Those can be great starter programs but to pass that off as a fully qualified engineer is in the le...

Re: messing with autodesk inventor

I'm getting ready to gratuate with my degree in CADD. If you would like I can run an analysis on your design and prep your drawings for fabrication . I can load them on a flash drive and have them in a format that you can read. I would also send you a copy that can be loaded into a CNC machine no pr...
