I can't recommend Curtis Tactical enough. They can probably do the repair/rebuild. Link to my earlier review on their rebuild of my TM THIRTY:

Re: ATF requirements for permanent can mount?
I think a tack will suffice, that is how i have seen "permanently attached muzzle devices" done. Maybe someone else can confirm? From an accuracy standpoint you want the least welding (and therefore heat input) possible to minimize distortion.

Re: Erosion pictures - form 1 vs commercial
Aluminum material properties drop off rapidly with increasing temperature. I would imagine Al baffles in a center-fire rifle can wouldn't last long. 304/316, 17-4 etc. are good choices, anything that is re-sulfurized (416, 303, 1215, 12L14) is going to ablate quickly. The sulfur/lead impurities that...

Re: Reflex Sights Vs Red Dot Sights:
They both essentially work the same way, an LED projects onto an angled, partially reflective piece of glass (a collimating mirror), resulting in a "dot" being projected toward your eye. I have a holosun and it's good stuff, long battery life and rugged. Aimpoint is the gold standard, but ...

Is the end cap on that suppressor a wipe? The hole is waaaaay to small for a 9mm bullet to pass through...maybe it's made of a compliant material?

Re: Wire EDM New 'Lathe' For Intricate Suppressor Parts
To my knowledge Aluminum does not age-harden at room temperature and fracture after a certain time like you are describing. Like stainless steel it is subject to intergranular corrosion, but AL lowers are typically anodized, preventing exposure to electrolytes. Aluminum does not have the same resist...

If you ever have second thoughts, have Curtis Tactical do a rebuild for you. This is my review of the rebuild they did for my TM THIRTY:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=158649
You will basically end up with a new (good!) can within a month.

Curtis Tactical THIRTY rebuild
About a year ago I had Curtis Tactical rebuild my Thompson Machine THIRTY suppressor. It was the old model THIRTY made out of chrome-moly steel, not the newer titanium model. I was never really happy with the original suppressor. It was very heavy and nearly impossible to take apart (a mallet and cu...

Re: Why is no one using 416 Stainless Steel for a Monocore design.
416 is "resufurized," meaning it is alloyed with extra sulfur to make it "free machining." The sulfur causes sulfur inclusions at grain boundaries (that's why it's easier to machine), and since sulfur has a lower melting point that the base metal, these will cause weak points in ...

Re: Rear baffle face ???
I would not put an angle on the ID. Seems like that would act like a converging nozzle and could maybe decrease efficacy. Take a look at some commercial baffles (I'm thinking silencerco omega here). A lot of them have that flat plus a clipped section, without a second angle. I have seen a few (curti...

I laugh at this puny lathe (actually, I think it's a horizontal mill) and give you the Gray:
It has a 12 FOOT turning capacity--and yes, the operator stands in the yellow bucket lift.

If it's going to be on there pretty much permanently, I would go the direct-thread route.

You missed the bold part. It is an aluminum tube that goes into the booster in place of the spring.fishman wrote:You don't need a spacer as long as you have a spacer? Am I missing something?speed6 wrote:I don't need a spacer, just the 1/2-36 piston and fixed spacerin place of the spring

Re: 9mm AR suppressor spacer...help?!
I have a JSE surplus 9mm upper and use a Ti-Rant 9 on it. I don't need a spacer, just the 1/2-36 piston and fixed spacer in place of the spring. The threads on my barrel are super long and I don't have any problems. I would clean the piston and barrel threads (a brass brush works great for the stain...

Re: Fondled a top tier can. questions and observations
I was thinking about this last night, and the "half baffles" (at least in the omega) might give you some coaxial volume compared to a straight cone. I.e., the distance the gas has to travel is slightly longer with a half-baffle, since it has to turn then travel some distance before hitting...

Re: Fondled a top tier can. questions and observations
rather than the cones going from wall to wall like most baffles you see on the market and here. ie. imagine you have a 1 3/8's baffle you leave it flat 1/4" from the wall of the suppressor then start machining the cone. I assume this would increase volume within the can? am I missing something...

Another company--let's call them "SuppressorCORP"--has a similar design with half-baffles etc--let's call it the "Alpha"--but their blast baffle is clipped.

Re: My 4 year battle with AAC to fix a defective suppressor...
You might see if the SOT could just bore out the original threads to a larger size ID and re-thread (straight and concentric this time!) to, say, 5/8-24. Then you could simply get an adapter. No welding, and minimal machining.

Re: 9mm multi-cal design review
I decided to re-think this build, and given that I don't have a lot of free time right now decided to go with a DM tube and end-caps. I still plan on doing a welded can, but I need (read: it would be really nice to have) a light-weight suppressor for my AK, 30-30 and 9mm carbine. So, with DM titaniu...

This has inspired me to get a griffin adapter instead of the YHM mount. I have several approved form 1s and need a multi-caliber can ASAP. By the way, DM got my griffin mount shipped out 3 hours after I ordered it .
