Re: AAC SR-7 Baffle Strike the first week of the ownership
So now I think I agree with you but not sure why his notch cuts look so different than mine... Either the angle of the picture he posted gives an illusion of being different or AAC has made some minor changes to that baffle design (they made design changes to the SDN-6, so it's possible they did th...

Re: AAC SR-7 Baffle Strike the first week of the ownership
Yeah, I don’t see any baffle strikes. Like Paco said, that’s just the way the baffles are designed. I had a customer at my old shop who had the same misconception. His SDN-6 (precursor to the SR-7) has a similar baffle design. He thought those cuts were baffle strikes when that’s actually the way th...

Re: Alpha Silencer from Griffin Armament review
The ability to disassemble a silencer is overrated. Yes, it’s important to be able to disassemble a rimfire can, but it’s less important to be able to disassemble a centerfire pistol can. And for most people a centerfire rifle can that can be disassembled is pointless. I currently have an SDN-6 on m...

Re: What goes on Trust Schedule A, confirmed by ATF Examiner
My lawyer told me this, very specifically... 1. You do NOT have to send a schedule A along with your trust when you file a form 4. As a matter of fact, the ATF would rather you didn't. This is not always true. I have seen many Form 4 submissions rejected by the ATF and sent back for correction beca...

Re: Baffle Strike Question
David hit the nail on the head. Short barrels are more likely to have bullet stability issues. I doubt the Mini-4 is rated for barrels less than 10". Sub-10" barrels put a large amount of extra wear on the can. First, there's a lot more pressure put on the blast baffle. Second, there is of...

Re: SBR Build for Omega Questions
What I was thinking is a 10.5" barrel with a handguard approx. 15" so the silencer will fit into the handguard. You're going to need a really fat handguard for the Omega to fit underneath it. Also, if you're using the ASR mount you'll have a hard time activating the latch through the hand...

I think some of the people here are talking past each other.
A longer barrel makes virtually no difference when shooting subsonic ammo.
But a longer barrel does give you more velocity when you're shooting supersonic ammo, though the increase isn't as steep as it is with other rifle rounds.

Joker31D, I can't speak to your specific experiences, but I can tell you that in my experience there is indeed some carbon buildup. But, under normal conditions, this buildup never gets too thick; the thin chunks of carbon that I see building up on the baffles of my sealed rifle cans changes every t...

No, The habit I'm referring to is the Saker, The Osprey, The Harvester, The Specwar and the Omega. Its clear that they could have made them either serviceable but for some reason they didn't.. If the Saker, the Harvester, the Omega, and all the rest of their rifle cans were user serviceable, those ...

Re: Review: Silencerco Hybrid
No service, no sale. A true "hybrid" can be used on anything, and that includes handguns with cast lead bullets. A sealed can would fill up pretty fast. Too bad. The word "hybrid" doesn't mean it's universal and can be used on everything: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionar...

Its not Serviceable because Silencerco is in the habit of not making any of their cans (Outside 22's) Serviceable. Wait a second. So making one can that's not user serviceable means they're "in the habit" of not making their cans user serviceable? Full-power centerfire rifle cans are almo...

The Walther P22 is a poorly-made gun that has lots of issues. Heck, it's not even made by Walther, it's made by their parent company Umarex who makes airsoft guns and cheap .22 replicas of bigger guns. Walter actually makes the quality guns like the PPQ and PPS, and Umarex makes the crap guns like t...

Does the omega shoot 5.7, 9mm, 17wsm, 2.22, and 7.62? Yep. The Omega can handle any caliber that's 30 caliber or smaller and makes about the same or less muzzle pressure as a 300 Win Mag. (Though, like any sealed rifle can, it's not a great idea to shoot too much unjacketed lead bullets or .22 rimf...

Re: 22lr can for 4" barreled Buck Mark pistol
I wanted a .22 can that had the following features: -very quiet -very minimal FRP -stainless steel baffles (for easier cleaning) -rated for .17 HMR and .22 mag (and 5.7 as a bonus, but not a requirement) -easy to disassemble when dirty The Mask met these requirements better than any other can I look...

If you're not running it hard, I'd go with the Omega; it's lighter and a little bit quieter than the Saker. I doubt you'll ever notice the dB difference, but you will notice the weight difference.
As far as the Specwar, it's too long for AR-15 use for my taste.

I saw this thread before there were any replies and I was going to write basically the same thing that rimshaker wrote, except I got sidetracked. So I came back to respond and I see that he beat me to it. Yeah, for hard SBR use I'd recommend the Saker. I got a Saker 5.56, but that's because I alread...

Re: suppressor piece in "Guns&Ammo" glossy magazine
I checked out the article, and I agree that it was pretty good. My main annoyance is that the author made it seem like the LID was something that only a few companies do, when virtually all pistol cans have a LID unless they're a specialty lightweight can like the Posieden. Two of the most common mi...

Re: What goes on Trust Schedule A, confirmed by ATF Examiner
I'm a manager at an 07/02 and I've dealt with the ATF long enough to know that what one examiner tells you doesn't always mean that much. I've seen many situations where one examiner approves something and another rejects something that was set up in the exact same way. Over the years our shop has h...

The new state law regarding background checks doesn't apply to silencers. Here's RCW 9.41.113 titled "Firearm sales or transfers—Background checks—Requirements—Exceptions" that outlines the background check requirements for firearms, and here's RCW 9.41.010 titled "Terms defined"...

Re: Sparrow vs Mask - help me choose!
Mask, hands down. I own a Mask (it's still in NFA jail but I can shoot it whenever I want) and I've shot the Sparrow many times also. Not only is the Mask quieter, but it has virtually no FRP, whereas the FRP on the Sparrow is very noticable.

I also recommend the Octane over the Ti-Rant. The Ti-Rant only has two minor advantages over the Octane: The Ti-Rant meters slightly quieter than the Octane, but you can’t tell the difference with your ear. The Ti-Rant is slightly lighter than the Octane, but by less than an ounce. But the Octane ha...

Agreed. I had the same thing happen when my wife was shooting my buddy's Octane 9. It came loose and had a few baffle strikes. Luckily there was no real damage, just some jacket fragments in the can.Conqueror wrote:Far more likely is a concentricity issue, possibly from the can loosening up.

Doesn't matter what the shape of the extension is , just so long as it is permanent to the barrel and measures over 16". A 6" bayonet on a 10" barrel is legal to make a 16" barrel It can only be a tube , vented or not doesn't matter. No cap on the tube as that could reduce the r...

Re: Stuck on a fence between AAC & Silencerco
Why not look at the SR7? It is shipping to dealers now. It seems to me that -- at least on paper -- the SR7 and the Saker are very similar except the Saker wins out due to the versatility of the MAAD mount and the extra durability of the stellite baffles. Is there something I'm missing? Does the SR...
