Re: Threaded Barrels That Can't Be Found

I've been looking for a threaded barrel for my Sig P250, in .45 cal for over a year now, with no luck.

Re: Vepr 12 build.

If you use aluminum, I would recommend using 7075 (T3 or higher) for your material. It is much stronger that 6061. It's used in aircraft fittings that require the strength of steel, but low weight. In fact, it's strength is similar to that of 304 and 316 SS. It's an excellent material to work with a...

Re: 30 Cal QD Form 1 build

Very nice. I plan to do a brake mount very similar to yours, using the brake as the first real baffles, with the brake supported on the end by fitting into the first baffle plate. I still haven't started turning anything up yet, but plan to as soon as I get back to the States and my shop. It's killi...

Re: would this stuff be safe?

Excellent point, Kyle. With thick enough spacer tubing, you could make up for any suspected strength deficiencies, except in threaded areas. But then a welded design would eliminate those issues too. For me personally though, I've waited too damn long for my first stamp to come back  , to take...

Re: would this stuff be safe?

Just my 2 cents worth, but I wouldn't trust it. Anytime a metal is worked into a pattern, like that, you can't help but introduce work hardening, weak points, and stress risers. Maybe for a .22 rimfire, but I personally wouldn't use it for anything bigger. Too many unknowns about it. I believe that ...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

Actually, that's a Marine CH-53D. I haven't worked on them since Iraq, in 2009. Now, for the last 5 years, I've been working on Sikorsky S-61N models. Basically, it's the stretched version of an H-3. They're old birds, but they do an excellent job over here in mountains/desert. Love crewing on them.

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

No updates yet. Spent the last couple of months working on setting up, and rebuilding, my "new" old Southbend. I've finally managed to get some pretty good accuracy out of it. I didn't have enough time to really get started on my build before I had to come back over to the "Stan"...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

Finally! My first form 1 came back while I was overseas. Now I can begin, in earnest. I've replaced my old, second hand and worn out 9/20 Jet with a older Southbend 10" Heavy A. It's a MUCH heavier machine, about 1300 lbs. total; nice and stiff and cuts really well. I've been spending most of m...

Re: Ideas people... I need ideas.

One area to keep in mind, aviation. You've already mentioned custom dashboards. In the homebuilt and kit plane market, this is a big deal. Everyone has their own way they want their gauges laid out. Even the General Aviation guys (part 91) need them at times too -- nav/com upgrades, radio upgrades, ...

Re: Either of these worth a stamp?

Those are both pretty cool ideas. The first would be easy to do, but I don't know how well it would work; would be cool to try it. Seems like a lot of unusable space. The second would be a PITA, but if that's all you had,,,,,,,,. I agree with Bender, I wouldn't use a stamp on them (too time consumin...

Re: What do you think of gun stores which ban carry?

I personally would not do business with a gun store that flat out banned CC. I view that as being a bit hypocritical, to sell guns for CC but not allow it in your store. That being said, I totally understand and support a gun store that has certain safety rules that go along with allowing CC --- ei....

Re: Threaded barrels for P250 in 45acp???

Any suggestions or recommendations on companies or individuals that can extend a barrel? I've emailed a couple of places that do this kind of work, but they weren't doing the P250 barrels. What is so different about this barrel? Hell, it looks pretty standard to me, but I can't seem to find anyone t...

Threaded barrels for P250 in 45acp???

Does anyone know where I can get a threaded barrel for the P250, full size, in 45 acp? I've been looking, but can't find one. In fact, I recently went to the NRA convention in Houston, and talked with the guy at the Sig counter. He said they weren't making them. Sounds crazy to me, but darned if I c...

Looks great. Gives me hope that I can do the same,,, when my forms finally get back. Still waiting on them, so my build is on the back burner for now while I wait on the ATF :x . Did you run into any issues turning the Ti versus SS? I'm planning for my first two builds to be out of Ti, but have no e...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

Bender, what WOULD it take to cut one then? I have fairly easy access to a large machine shop, back in the States, when I'm home. Not saying it's a route I'd take, but would like the info so I can weight my options. All of this is obviously, still in the theoretical/planning phase. Better to ask the...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

Yes sir, that's the conclusion I've reached. I'll use grade 9 tubing for the 22LR, probably somewhere between .030 and .040" thick. Whatever is readily available at the time I get to that point. Thinner, if I can pull off getting a bench top mill so I could try a monocore approach. Haven't made...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

Buy tube. Excessively wasteful (both time & money) to make from Ti bar Yes, and thank you, that's very true. However, I have access to some grade 5 round stock and the price would be VERY right. Also, I have a schedule that allows me a good deal of time off,,, and I'm very patient. Grade 5 tubi...

Re: Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

I was planning on using stepped cones with spacers on the .223. Not knowing enough about Ti durability/erosion resistance, I was thinking of using 316SS for the blast chamber spacer and baffle. As for turning a tube out of a piece of solid stock, you're correct, it would be expensive. I would probab...

Questions with 22LR and .223/5.56 titanium suppressors

I have recently submitted two form 1s, one for a 22LR and one for a .223 suppressor. I've been through about half of the 153 pages of topics on this site, and still haven't found what I'm looking for. (However, reading this forum has been a real eye opener and learning experience for me.) I want to ...
