Which cones for 45 subsonic?
I’m planning a 10” D-cell diameter build for a 458 SOCOM with the intent to shoot 400-500 grain subsonic. Am I better off with 60° clipped cones or Ks?

Maxim 50 gone from SiCo website
I just noticed the Maxim 50 muzzleloader is missing from the Silencerco website. It must not have been the game changer they thought it would be.
I would consider one if they built it on a smokeless platform like the Savage 10 MLII

Re: Muzzle loading integral suppressor
I have said a whole bunch of times that Silencerco would have met with a lot more success if they had built a smokeless gun. Savage did it. A smokeless gun solves all the cleaning problems.

Zmachineworx belly up?
Is Zmachineworx still in business? Their Facebook page hasn’t been updated since July and their website appears to be gone. ATF shut them down?

Re: Current gold standard for rimfire can?
A local shop has the Sig SRD22X for $279, which seems like a good deal. I watched a video where a guy from Sig claimed 110 dB on a rifle. That sounds like a pretty quiet can.

Current gold standard for rimfire can?
What’s the current winner for best rimfire can? Quietness and ease of cleaning are about even with regards to my definition of “best” with quiet perhaps taking a slight lead. I currently own a Form 1 rimfire can and a Spectre II. My homemade can is as quiet as the Spectre but it’s also quite a bit b...

Re: Small supressor for full house 300BLK
I would trim those hand guards back to make room for a longer can, and consider a reflex design to get some extra volume.

SilencerCo summer promotion
SilencerCo is running a summer promotion where if you spend $700 on a serialized item you get a free rimfire can. If you spend >$800 you get a free pistol can. Using Silencer Shop and one local dealer as a yardstick, that means there are really only a couple of their cans that get you over the $800 ...

Re: Trust Strategy
If you own more than three or four NFA items the cheaper route would be just to buy a dedicated safe for them and not tell anyone else the combination. That way your wife and in-laws don't have access and you save all the crazy trust shenanigans. Paying (again) the $200 transfer tax for each item wo...

Re: Rethinking 460 Rowland suppressed
If you buy a Glock 30 kit from Rowland himself he makes you buy a “Rowlanator” which is an extra heavy metal rear sight designed to add mass to the slide. If I were putting weight on the gun I would put it on the slide. FWIW I tried to run 45 Super/Low end Rowland loads in a Glock 21 using a crappy ...

Clipping a 45 can?
I’m planning a 10” can for subsonic 45-70 using 60 degree cones. I’m planning a .500 bore diameter. Question: will clipping the cones give a benefit for a slow, heavy 45 caliber bullet or should I just bore them and be done with it.

Re: Why didn't I think of this?
It's fully welded. If any part came off, it would be considered a silencer part. This. If it were kosher with ATF to have a removable core then Silencerco would have been smart enough to make that happen. Read the ATF letter and you can see they aren't even happy with the endcap being held in place...

Re: Where to engrave 10/22 ZK-22 SBR?
It was my understanding, having spoken with a lawyer and reviewing the ATF website, that the engraving of a weapon is not required unless you are either the manufacturer (think 80% lower) or transferring the item (selling). If you are simply modifying something that you already own, than it is not ...

Re: Why didn't I think of this?
Don't some states have different (from the feds) definitions for firearms and silencers? Would this gun be legal in CA and NJ? Ranb Some states won't allow it to be mailed directly to your house but I don't think antique muzzle loading guns are banned anywhere. If they make a silenced cap lock revo...

Re: Why didn't I think of this?
I just wish they hadn't welded it to the end of a $99 rifle. If I'm going to drop a grand on a muzzle loader I would prefer it be a good one. I predict they will sell a bunch of them, and then three months later at least half will be on a race to the bottom on the resale market. On the bright side, ...

Re: Why didn't I think of this?
Now here's a question. A TC encore is legally a firearm, as it can have centerfire barrels attached to it. Would putting an integrally silenced muzzle loader barrel onto an encore constitute silencing a firearm? I used to own an Encore that was purchased new with only the 50 caliber ML barrel. I ha...

Re: Why didn't I think of this?
Actually I did think of it a couple of years ago. I just never got around to composing a letter to ATF because I didn't have the time to pursue it. If you read their letter from ATF a couple of things jump out: 1. They make note of the adhesive used to secure the end cap of the sample as not being a...

Re: Question on legal limits of bore clearance?

In this particular thread the OP inquired about being able to change the caliber of a silencer once the stamp had been issued. While most were quick to point out that ATF very specifically ...
