Re: Eform 1 denial

New design questions are required to be answered before you get form 1 approval. Buy nothing until you have an approved form 1 in hand would be my suggestion. Any parts purchased before you have the approved form 1 in hand will probably get you denied. Just an FYI This is being put to the test so wi...

TouchDRO for lathe

Yuriy just got the new v2 glass scale dro boards in. $89 free shipping . At yuriy’s toys . www.touchdro.com/store/diy-dro-glass-scale-adapter-v2.html Glass scales on eBay ~$40-60 each. When I get mine in I will print up some magnetic mounts for quick attachment to lathe. I am using the Shahe board h...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

Hello to everyone. I’m a fng and came across this while looking for solutions to a problem with my new mini lathe. I have the wm210v-g 8.7x31” with the 38mm spindle bore. Like the other guys said, it came covered in grease and grime. I tried to half ass the cleaning because I was intimidated by tho...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

www.myvirtualnetwork.com/mklotz/files/changejs.zip Download this program, extract it, and add lathe, and set it up like I have posted pic's pages back in this thread. This will calculate gears. For 24TPI 28TPI and 1mm. I use some printed combo gears so no need to calculate. 24 tpi the middle gear co...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

I just checked the forum and responded to your pm. I found another gear ratio program and simplified the chart. Only gears needed are a 34 tooth and a 56 tooth. No charge for the gears, just pay shipping. You will need to clean up bore and keyway on the nylon gears. 56 spindle gear on the headstock ...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

Updated the gear threading chart with printed gears needed to get 0% error. First chart I posted needed a longer banjo to work. This one works with the one that comes with the lathe. Without a threading dial cutting imperial threads on this lathe is best not to disengage nut. Back out of cut and rev...

Re: 45 Cal Suppressor Design Review

Nice work!

Reversing blast baffle fin rotation would cause suppressor to not have a tendency to loosen, like the oss design causes a rotation to tighten the suppressor.

Not sure if it matters, just something I noticed.

Can’t wait to see a video of how it performs.

I run it semi auto so no problem with loading next cartridge , shooting subsonic loads won’t cycle but are pellet gun quiet. But the >2lbs does suck.
Working on a light weight form1 at the moment and will definitely clip the cones.

Re: Clipping a 5.56 Suppressor worth the accuracy and POI issues?

Now what's noticeable is the noise from the port where the spent case is ejected. It's still really loud and not hearing safe. You can get an AR carbine with the Stoner gas system ("DI"-not actually, but how most refer to it) below 140 dB with an adjustable gas block. Not by much, mind yo...

Same here, stepped up from a 7x10 mini lathe. So no experience with other lathes.
I wanted the larger diameter pass thru didn’t need a longer lathe as suppressors and flashlights are what I plan to use it for.

If using iPhone attachment didn’t show up for me.
Using windows computer checking emails the attachment was seen.
The email they send is usually right after you submit the form payment.
Both of mine were like this. Just a FYI

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

The Gear chart with added 3D printed gears updated June 1st 2020 these combos should fit. The program needed banjo length to constrain what gears are allowed to be combined. The old chart gears didn’t fit.

Dewalt brand circular blades tips separated after very little use.

But I am now using carbide insert parting tool and have not had any problems.

Nice! Here is a program that can be setup for most lathes. The changejs.zip has a program called change wheels. You can add your model of lathe and the gears you have or a range you want to check. http://www.myvirtualnetwork.com/mklotz/ I added the mx-210v. The gear pic is reversed side to side. htt...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

Perfect! That will reverse leadscrew by adding a gear if needed. Since the gear on the top shaft is just an idler gear the dual gear setup could be made to fit. The amount of teeth won’t matter as it’s a tooth per tooth rotation 1:1. Only ratio of the first and last gear in a sequence matter. Even p...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

The mini lathe has a gear in position A linked thru an idler gear to spindle. This lets you change A/B ratio easy, you can also reverse the lead screw rotation as well with a lever to engage a forward or reverse idler gear. The 8x16 doesn’t have this option, lead screw follows the spindle. May be po...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

To use a calculator you need to have a 56 tooth starting gear. The ratio will be 56/c x d/e, a and f are not used but a small gear needs to fill the space. The b gear (idler) won’t matter as the size you need will be dictated by the gap you need to fill between gear c and the 56 tooth spindle gear. ...

No problem. That’s a 220v 50hz, not sure if it’s an issue as they have a dc motor . Man I am really enjoying my 8x16. You will have to do some mods but for such a small lathe it works great. Drilled holes to adjust compound without unscrewing it. Under 10 minutes turning. Currently working on a 22lr...

Yes k’s by muzzle, followed by parabolic in the mix might be interesting.
I would need to work on a jig for turning the parabola.
Would also be handy for small radius cuts.

Re: Newbie 'M' baffle question

Not sure, but seems like the supersonic shock wave might have something to do with it. Shorter barrels do not benefit from this configuration. The reduction is significant, especially keeping the same volumes and materials. Would be interesting to see if adding some ablative material to the longer s...
