Re: Which cones for 45 subsonic?

Have you tried any searching for what others use? Completed cans thread? Commercial Manufacturers? These are Bowers' 22 baffles. They are more complex than simple cones, and maybe provide a good middle ground: https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmodernrifleman.net%2Fwp-content...

Re: Which cones for 45 subsonic?

I've never built one, but from what I recall from other threads, start with cones, then the last couple could be Ks once the pressure drops so low that they need more advanced geometry to divert gas from the bore-axis.

As I understand, those "Chalenge coins" are designed to function as a "poor man's K" by placing them before the cups/cones that they sell.
Sounds like the worst of both worlds.
Agreed.

Re: Turbocharger baffles

Lol no Why no? What function would you hope that they accomplish? The openings are too large to restrict flow from returning out of any chamber, yet any material blocks the initial gas sump. They don't have sufficient quenching qualities to add in cooling the combusting gasses. Converting Axial flo...

My experience with Chinese solvent trap kits.

Their Site had an "Ask us anything" button, so I clicked and asked them a question about their monocore direction. Here is the text of our discussion so far: Subject: separator direction of your monocore filter Body: In some photos, the separators bend toward the entrance and in others they bend the...

Re: Turbocharger baffles

I made buffles as shown in my video. https://youtu.be/O-FHOPtOKp0 in fact, the gas flow rate on the turbine blades is close to subsonic because the silencer’s inside is a different gas environment than in the atmosphere and the speed of sound is different... I use such turbines only as an explosive...

In fact, I proposed this idea 6 years ago: http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=123367 http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6657862.pdf It's funny at how many of the Ideas that I came up with, so many years ago, are now in common commercial use..... Re: Which Engravers are people using?

I've asked Jewelers years ago and they said that they can only punch into 10kt gold, bronze, or softer metals. Can trophy shops really engrave into 304 SS or 6061-T6 Al? That electro-etch seems interesting. I'll have to check it out. Thank you both for your timely answers. (I live just Nor...

Re: Which "fuel filter" kit would you recommend?

Boy! Am I cluttering this thread, lol. This seems to have larger volume, better baffle design (spiral-fluted cones with mouse-holed, coaxial skirt.) Plus no bore openings. So I can use ~.25" or 5/16" drill bit. (As opposed to the .400" bore of their monocore models.) Thoughts anyone :?: https://solv...

Re: Which "fuel filter" kit would you recommend?

When making 2 of my previous F1s I had access to a full factory machine shop. I used a Floor-mounted Drill Press to bore the baffles and endcap.

Can I do this with a hand drill? Do I need special Tool Steel bits?

Anything else that I would need to alter this kit into a functioning F1?

Seems that ATF may have shut him down for "sharing info and vids created by OTHER people." Clarification of this? Why would the ATF care about videos? Which Engravers are people using?

I'm planning on completing some old F1s that I've had lieing about. So I'm needing to source an Engraver.

Who are the cheapest, and what methods do they use? Milling, laser, stamping, etc?

Should I just use someone local if they can easily do it with simple equipment, ie: non-laser?

Re: First form 1 build, critique my plans please

Here a photo from another site showing the "retention cone" on the far endcap. Make it larger and slant drill holes to siphon gas from the exit tube, and it sounds quieter, smoother, more pleasant because of decreased atmospheric upset.

Re: Which "fuel filter" kit would you recommend?

Yes, they post that the openings are .400" so that would be 13/32". I don't know how straight the threads are aligned, so I figured that maybe a looser boreline would help reduce baffle strikes. Does the size of the bore holes really matter that much for .22lr? I've heard .5L plastic bottles where t...

Re: Which "fuel filter" kit would you recommend?

Here is another Option: It's only 1"OD, .75"ID, 6.0"L whereas the previous 2 are 1.358"OD, 1.25"ID, 6.0"L. So less Volume, and different baffle design. Maybe better for a low pressure round? https://www.amazon.com/TONGDAUR-Aluminum-Solvent-Modification-Accessories/dp/B083DFS3LK/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=1...
