Re: First Form 1 Build 6.5 CM
I don't recall seeing Enfield's implementation of spent steel CO2 bulbs, but I did give it a try myself in an airgun suppressor. Tried both ends actually, the nipple ends as sort of convoluted cones and the other ends as domes. Didn't find suppression to be very effective. Certainly nowhere nearly a...

Re: First Form 1 Build 6.5 CM
Thanks to spamming idiots this forum is rather sad, but still... felt like sharing. I acquired a Sig Cross in 6.5Creedmoor and because I don't like loud noises, made a suppressor for it. Lacking a proper lathe, just working with what is basically a tiny toy one, I improvised something using a Soda S...

Re: Feedback on .22 Mono-core design
For my first dozen or so suppressors for .22lr I used a 0.25" bore. But I found this slightly too small on most of the resulting cans, causing inconsistent accuracy though without baffle strikes. I've never had a baffle strike, no trace of lead on aluminum baffles nor end caps, but too small a ...

Re: Best way to clean aluminum baffles?
You could polish the outer surfaces of the baffles if it's difficult to push them back into the tube. If there is scoring in the tube you could polish that a bit to make insertion easier. Just don't go nuts and lose too much metal. As with most things, prevention is better than cure. A number of fol...

1) I have a lot of experience 3D printing, and I am confident a baffle stack printed in PLA+ or Nylon would be sufficient enough to last under the low pressures of .45ACP when combined with a metal blast baffle. Having made a number of monocores of Delrin (melting point 177°C) and a Ertalyte (melti...

Re: Pleased by Brave browser, 3x to 6x faster browsing
Yesterday I read that Brave had purchased a search engine. No idea which one, but something they can now further develop. Their intention is to offer a default search engine which is inherently secure and anonymous. So something like duckduckgo used to be, but with Brave's in house dedication to pri...

Re: Novel EU Baffle Design
It just a opinion but they could improve performance by simply adding a "slanted sidewall" aka "K dimples" or a second hole in each baffle to increase turbulent conditions. I made an extremely simple 6061 monocore a couple of years ago out of curiosity, as over the years several...

Re: Novel EU Baffle Design
What am I not seeing? Looks like the tapered elements are the most innovative design choice, enabling really easy disassembly even if filthy as the inner monocore sleeve taper doesn't need to slide along the monocore. But the short monocore element amounts to basic washers and spacers. That's one of...

Re: Clipping gap size??
If I'm understanding correctly what you mean by the baffles threading together... Would it not make sense to just run a line up one side with a Sharpie? Then when dismantled you can mark each baffle's clipping location(s) and mill those, and when screwed back together whatever orientation you've cut...

Anyone got insights into why so many national guardsmen turned their backs on the motorcade today? Unless of course that video was faked. But some chatter here and there seems to indicate the military is royally pissed about being 'vetted' for extremist/terrorist potential and for not being trusted ...

Bore it out to 9mm... for what caliber of bullet? What gun is this going to be mounted on? Semi-auto or bolt? Without any information about the gun, it is impossible to even begin answering your questions. For .22lr a 6" x 1.1" tube is probably sufficient. I use a 4" x 1" tube wi...

Yeah, well, I've no doubt stirred things up around here the odd time (though never as my alter-ego 'quietoldfart' which generated only positivity, go figure), but in a time of such radical transition it seems one has to choose a side. And the fascistic galivanting of the radical left over the past y...

I wish that I could move the Home Bar buttons around. I'm used to the "Last, next, home, refresh" buttons on the right, instead of left. Also, I haven't found the "are you sure that you want to close ALL tabs" protection. I have done this a couple of times trying to adjust the p...

Made the switch this past week after over a decade with Firefox. Indeed fast, Brave often loading a page so quickly that it almost seems to have anticipated my clicks. Setup has been a bit of a chore but that's expected with any new software. Importing bookmarks wasn't perfect, seemingly deleting ab...

Re: H.R. 5717 bill that restricts guns
Can't say I agree with some of your specifics, but sure, things will only get more 'interesting' (worse) in the next couple of weeks. My guess on the shootings is that they will not be false flag operations. Rather they will be expressions of extreme frustration by some men who feel completely margi...

Re: Political /Refugee
Something I read today from James Lindsay was kind of interesting. He seemed to struggle in his essay to put an exact finger on his point, but that was in a way inherent in the exercise. Namely he was suggesting that we each take on the assignment of identifying where our line was, the line where we...

Re: Political /Refugee
I've at times longed for California, especially Marin County. But then I quickly remember the politics, the gun rules (those stocks on carbines are HIDEOUS!) and it's a no-go. I could take my skills and move them, not much of an issue as it would only take a year or two to let people know I'm there ...

Ashli Babbit shouldn't have been climbing through a broken window into an inner upstairs hallway of a government building. She got shot in the throat because that's what she was doing, and because some officer on the other side of that doorway decided that shooting a woman in the throat was the best...

Indeed, Sgt. Mike. Such are the times, when the true nature of communism hasn't been taught in schools and foolish young adults believe Stalin and Mao are people they should admire, freedom of speech is largely gone. Even the police and courts are more frequently cracking down on matters of opinion....

For what little it's worth, I can say I'm on the edge of my damn seat waiting to see what comes of January 6th. Wishful thinking most likely. The powers behind the curtain won't permit their plans to be foiled. Seems all too likely to be a binary at play, either more of the same, or bloody revolutio...

Fair enough. If adding baffles, modifying your current suppressor yourself or having a re-core done by someone competent isn't an option for you, then I'd go with symmetrical clips and rotating 90 degrees between each. I've found the 90 degree alternating orientation to be effective in 9mm cans anyw...

Re: H.R. 5717 bill that restricts guns
It's the global push to eliminate privately held firearms, one step at a time. Canada went from a situation pretty much like that in the USA long ago, to an easily acquired license, to a much more diligently controlled license, to a ban by Order in Council (which superseded Parliamentary procedure, ...

Re: Baffle Clip Advice requested
whiterussian1974's suggestions seem spot on. I'll add that 4 cones in a suppressor for a 9mm gun of some sort is not likely to result in a decibel reduction you will find very useful. Seems from what commercial suppressors do and what a lot of successful form 1 makers besides, between 6 and 10 cones...

Re: K-Baffles: 60° or shorter to fit more of them?
Buy some washers the same OD as your undrilled baffles, with the same diameter centre hole, or drill them out to the size you want for your baffle bore. Make a clamping fixture which can hold a stack of these washers securely in the drill press. Locate the clamping fixture such that the drill spins ...
