Re: First ATF Ruling of 2015......applies to everyone in this forum!
Is there an effective date to this ruling? If construction was begun prior to the ruling may it be completed or is this basically a stop work order?

Re: Feedback Requested, Form 1 Videos
Good stuff. Obviously the larger bores negatively affect suppression. The 300 k sounded like it was going supersonic. I'd chrono it to be sure. The first .22 can was pretty close to the professional can in terms of suppression. Good job. The third can on your .22 had a lot of frp as well as being lo...

Re: Baffled By Baffleless Suppressor Design
Kind of remind me of a pulse jet. In theory suppressors are engines for converting the energy of propellant gas into work. Trying to bleed that energy off over a longer (quieter) time. I just have no idea how you'd make it work practically.

Re: Applying for an SOT for tinkering purposes
I have been on this forum a lot just learning and reading. The ammo situation has turned into quite the issue for rim fire suppressors. At current prices I can reload 9 mm subs for cheaper than I can purchase .2r subs if I can even find them....I have seen some available online but nothing is on the...

Re: Applying for an SOT for tinkering purposes
I have a form one ready to go but unfortunately i started the process before the nonsense with .22 ammo began. I haven't begun construction yet I can currently load and shoot 9mm for less than .22. I was thinking of trying to change caliber a on my form one but it looks like that's pretty difficult....

Re: Applying for an SOT for tinkering purposes
Once again the search function was my friend. Many questions were answered. It looks as though form 1 is the way to go, from a cost point of view. I knew about some of the restrictions on SOT's I used to work for one...but it looks as though much has changed in how ATF deals with FFL's. I remember e...

Applying for an SOT for tinkering purposes
Forgive the newbie question but could someone walk me through the ins and outs of getting an SOT? I've been thinking about doing it for my own entertainment...I was thinking of doing the $500.00 one and building some tubes and playing around with the baffles. I'm not interested in starting a busines...

Re: Interesting .22LR Micro Can build...
A couple of things that might help you with wipes. One do not cut slits or shoot through material to get your wipes. Make a concetretic aligned punch on a lathe with a slightly undersized center section. A lot of the accuracy degradation comes from the bullets unevenly contacting the edges of the wi...

Re: My first .223 can finished.
Careful pretty sure a removable bushing that goes inside the suppressor is a silencer part. If you remove it you could end up with an extra part, outside of the can. A clever soloution might be a internal storage space for the protector when it's not in use. I could also be way off base as I am a to...

Re: all omega baffles patented?
On further searching it seems common for a build here. It amazes me that inventors give permission to do this. I find it hard to piture Microsoft giving permission for the same thing, and yet sot makers seem very open to doing it. That speaks volumes to their confidence and innovative spirits. Prett...

all omega baffles patented?
I've noticed that the Spectre seems to be a really well regarded can on this forum and since I'm doing a form 1I thought why not model a proven design? On further examination it seems like the omega baffle would be pretty easy to replicate but I notice a lot of references to the patent on this baffl...

Thats funny one of the things they cut on it for fun were rocks. They were cutting little designs in them for use as a paperwieght.

Re: What can I do with a flowjet?
wow. I just got a look at some of the parts they use this thing for and they are very intricate. Based on what I saw it would do a monocore in a heartbeat. But thats not what Im doing so..... One thing the guys who use it told me was that its pretty slow. They also didn't explain how thick they coul...

What can I do with a flowjet?
So I'm in the information gathering stage for my form1 and the small machine shop I'm working with has offered to get me some time on a water-jet cutting machine. The materials I will be using are all stainless and right now I'm thinking of a k baffle or possibly cones. The guys are really super exc...

Re: Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
Interesting advice all around. I have the stamp already and I did specify .223 on the can so no stepping up to .30 cal as I understand current ATF nonsense. Since my primary use will be rim fire I'm thinking a k design with a standard blast chamber in stainless. As I plan on using it mainly for rim ...

Re: Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
Any more ideas on what actually causes the Frp? It seems there isn't a consensus on it. Also it sounds like the ratios of width and length are important not just can volume. Can you guys exPand on that? Is it caliber specific? Are there any constants involved?

Re: Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
So bender what do you think of a reversible first baffle? In the rim fire mode it would interact with a k baffle first then go through a blast chamber. In the center fire mode it would hit the blast chamber to save the muzzle and pass through the k to interact with cones further down.

Re: Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
So oxygen causes it? Does it matter where the chamber is in the can? Why does running it wet stop it? For the record I actually agree with both of you as far as specialized vs hybrid. Ive heard some commercial cans that did both pretty well. Honestly I'm still at the if it works I'll be amazed stage.

Re: Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
Lots of info and great experience. I should be more specific in what I was looking for the can to do. In 5.56 I would just like a hearing safe suppressor. The cAn is going to be oversized at about ten inches oal. In 22 I'd like a decent level of suppression I understand sit a trade off in design. Th...

Convertible 5.56 to 22lr
So total newbie here but I'm curious if there have been any designs with a k cone hybrid design for the blast baffle? My experience with 5.56 cans on a 22 is that they have a lot of FRP, due to the large expansion chamber being close to the muzzle. My understanding is that a k baffle doesn't do as g...
