Re: 308 316 Stainless Clipped Cone Sealed build
How did you etch it? I understand the vinyl but what process and how long did it take? I use a 50/50 blend of vinegar and salt water, my battery charger and q-tips. Similar to this video. It takes about 20 minutes to get a deep enough etch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV-PItEcLXY I'm using stra...

One of my navy buddy's wife has a vinyl graphics printer. She prints up the stencils on scrap material for me.

308 316 Stainless Clipped Cone Sealed build
...Not many pictures but I had to post. Thanks for the knowledge! 9" OAL, 1.61 average overall OD, small end is 1.59, 1.5" ID, 1st cone is integrated and welded to the 2.5" x .080 thick 1.5" od blast chamber and is un-clipped . The next 5 are clipped and the last one is not. No s...

Re: integral 10/22- what size outer tube and material?
Thank you for the reply and the link to the brake. It's a nice looking break. I may have to buy one I'm assuming you bought the 1" version? When looking at the brake in your build I see yours is a male thread. The one you linked is female. . Yup, single point threaded the outside, bored out th...

Re: integral 10/22- what size outer tube and material?
Welded tubing will be strong enough, I suspect that it won't be as pretty or as round. I left the barrel at 10 1/2 inches, I had a stock barrel that I was going to use but wanted the full length support that a bull barrel provides. The bull barrel also made a good square mating surface for the baffl...

Re: integral 10/22- what size outer tube and material?
I used a 1"x.060 316 tube, bought a KIDD pistol barrel and turned it down to a press fit, then pinned and welded the tube to the barrel. Bored out a shrewd muzzle brake and threaded it to be my endcap. I have a foam insert to act as a wiper. The first baffle is Ti the rest are 7075 AL. It turne...

Re: 50 Beowulf suppressed SBR
Very cool. I have an 50AE upper I have built and am waiting on a stamp. I filed for a 8" suppressor and hope it will be enough for some 500gr subs. Would you mind sharing your gas port size? I am thinking I want to make a 10.5ish" barrel for mine and am curious of port size. Should be clo...

[quote="speed6"]That is a nice looking gun AND suppressor/barrel. How do you get the baffles out after shooting for a while?[/q  I don't know.... I have a stainless hook that should allow me to pull them out. My other .22 can has a welded end cap on the muzzle side and is threaded on ...

Re: 50 Beowulf suppressed SBR
Sorry about the toe's, it's hot! The silencer is all 1.75"x .065 316 stainless 10" long, the blast baffle is plug welded to the end cap/blast chamber. the blast baffle is a dished/almost k-type face with offset scoops. Then there are 10 60 degree cones, the first 4 are spaced at 1" th...

Re: Integral 10/22, thanks for the help!
It's a rather simple process once you know what you're doing. First you prep your parts (i.e sandblasting or polishing depending on your desired finish). Then you degrease the parts in a hot industrial bath. Depending on the material you should detox the part removing any surfaced impurities with an...

Integral 10/22, thanks for the help!
Another project that was inspired by the members here. The receiver is an 80% from Select Fire LLC. The barrel is a 10" Kidd turned down to a press fit inside of the 16" 316 tube, then pin welded in place. The first baffle was my first attempt at Ti, all others are 7075, all the aluminum w...

Thought it was time to share my projects that you guys helped out with. I'm mainly just a lurker while on deployment. I submitted for 9 stamps while I was deployed, ordered all the material and am finally getting some stuff built. Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge.

Re: What causes a deeper tone in a F1 can?
We've been using Lead dampening tiles and Rubber hull coatings on Submarines for decades. I can't say how many db's it reduces....but it's enough for the government to spend billions on. It's not a normal rubber it's a porous dense rubber that's extremely heavy, it works well.
