Re: Can I use the lower of a currently owned complete rifle for a SBR?
You can use your currently owned lower. You can make it into what ever caliber, length you want. However you have to be able to quickly convert it back to what ever you register it as. Also once its an SBR and you put a non SBR upper on it its still considered an SBR. So if you register it as a 5.5...

Re: Shortest, lightest silencer for SBR in 5.56?
<snip> Please don't get hung up on not having an SBR that doesn't shoot 1 MOA. Few can shoot 2 MOA anyway. Besides it doesn't matter if a SBR shoots 1 or 2 MOA, as long it shoots within the mil spec 4 MOA it's fulfilling its purpose (unless your wanting to brag on the internet). SBRs are meant to s...

Maybe, in a not too distant future session, the Vermont legislators will expand it to all lawful purposes and no sunset.

Has anyone used Onshape CAD yet?
This tool looks very useful to our group. 1. It has a free option that only limits the number of active designs. 2. Online collaboration. 3. Import/Export of many 2D and 3D formats. I have no connection to them other than I'm testing the free option and working my way thru the tutorials. www dot ons...

Re: Getting checked for legal silencer and stamp
If you are on private property, the owner or his agent can demand that you produce your papers or leave. If you do not comply you may be arrested for trespassing. The only governmental agents that have the authority to DEMAND the paperwork is ATF. However, it is generally a good idea to avoid the ri...

Aaron, Please offer another way of paying other than PayPal. Amazon and Google come to mind. PayPal has proven that they are evil over and over again since nearly the beginning. In fact, they attempted to steal several thousand dollars from me several years ago and I was only able to recover most of...

Re: Has anyone on here actually "shot out" a silencer?
Back in the pre-Clinton days, I had a MAC11/380 with Sionics suppressor. I shot it enough that the suppressor got really loud and new wipes didn't help. Back in those days you could still get "silencer parts kits", so I got one and had a local SOT rebuild it. I sold all of my NFA stuff bet...

Re: New Open Letter form ATF
I'm still mystified by the complete disconnect between "shall not be infringed" and ANY firearm law. It seems to me that any "officer" that took an oath to defend the constitution has taken an oath to defend ALL of it, not just the parts that some jerk in DC (lawmaker, judge, wha...

Re: A question about moving firearms in a Trust
I have been unable to find a common carrier that allows me to ship what I want without an FFL being on one or both ends. I guess that means I fly or drive, or I have to get an FFL. Will the Curio & Relic FFL be good enough? If not, since ATF has decided that taking a beer from a friend for letti...

Re: Springfield XDS-4.0 4" .45
I carry a XDS-45 3.3" and highly recommend it. By all accounts, there is no difference between the 3.3" and 4" other than the longer barrel and slide. The slightly longer sight picture and slightly higher projectile speed of the longer barrel seem to me to be a bonus. I'm glad to hear...

I don't know about other places, but in Virginia you cannot have a loaded rifle or pistol when on VA waterways. There may be one or two minor exceptions to this, but it is generally true.
State laws are really going to be a problem.

Re: A question about moving firearms in a Trust
Well crap.
I guess I'm flying or driving. It is 24 hours driving straight thru from Richmond to Dallas, but at least I don't get the TSA "handjob".
I wish there was a common carrier I could use. I'm not comfortable shipping outside of their policy.

Re: A question about moving firearms in a Trust
Shipped via common carrier that allows said weapons. Is there a list somewhere of which carriers will ship between TX, AL, and VA by firearm type? As of 5 Jan, 2015, FedEx requires a FFL at one or both ends. http://www.fedex.com/us/freight/rulestariff/prohibited_articles.html UPS won't accept silen...

A question about moving firearms in a Trust
Assume I have a valid NFA trust that contains both NFA and non-NFA firearms and related items. Further; co-trustees reside in multiple states, all of which allow possession of all items in the trust. No trustees are prohibited persons. I understand that many, but not all, of the NFA items require an...

Re: Talk me into it...(FNG introduction)
Also, the last thing I want to do is send my $200 in with a design sketch I can't build myself. There is no need to send plans in for a form 1. In fact, it might cause problems for you. The ATF only needs caliber, length, and engraving info. Diameter and internal specs are not needed for a form 1.

Re: 10/22 can design
I already have a thread on 22lr can with a blast cone and K's. I want to keep the overall length short for my granddaughter. The K's shown are what I normally use (ports are not shown). I'm not a fan of porting a barrel to make the ammo slower. Why use crappy cheap high velocity ammo that groups 3 ...

Re: 10/22 can design
I would like to suggest that you leave the barrel at 16" or longer and thread it. Build a 6" or longer thread mount suppressor using K baffles and give yourself the option to use it on other 22 LR firearms. A K baffle design with subsonic ammo is silly quiet, and with supersonic ammo it is...

Re: Which part is must have the serial number?
Common sense comes into play with some laws... I'm not 100% familiar with the law we are talking about but I'd assume up until the point it can be directly used in / as a suppressor it isn't controlled just my $0.02 "Shall not be infringed" seems clear and unambiguous. Assuming that is tr...
