Re: Velocity Increase with suppressor
That was a cool video . I got different results from my very limited testing. I got an average of 3063 with standard deviation of 28. With the suppressor on it was an average of 3108 with standard deviation of 6. The gun was Windham Weaponry 16" 5.56. Ammo was American Eagle Lake City made 55 g...

Re: Double Jeopardy.
I say you get tried again. If you are released and find the person you were convicted of killing (who obviously is alive) and you don't turn them in, to get PAID for your wrongful incarceration (and faking their own death), you're an idiot and clearly worthless to our society. That's an interesting...

Re: Double Jeopardy.
I still hold that there was no new crime committed so no new charges apply. Like whiterussian1974 said its a thought exercise. I sure won't put it to a test. My conclusion isn't based on anything other than my understanding of the double jeopardy law. I tried to chug through the double jeopardy laws...

Re: Double Jeopardy.
That person was already convicted of that crime. How can he be charged twice for the same crime? Similarly, OJ can anounce on national TV with the knife in his hand that he's the killer and he can not be charged with murder of Nicole Brown or Ron Goldman since he was a quitted of those crimes. Civil...

Re: Does being in prison mean you lose natural right of self defense?
To clarify: Suppose I was convicted of a state felony in Texas more than 5 years ago. I can now legally own a firearm but it can only be in my house? I can't take it to the range etc.? From the last sentence below, My conviction no longer counts under federal law so I will pass a NICS check and be a...

Re: 30-06 suppressed
Hello and welcome. Right now i use factory Remington ammo. I use a Saker762 and its nice to shoot. The brake QD mount cuts down on recoil so my wife shoots it now and the suppressor cuts down noise at the rifle. There is a crack from the bullet traveling supersonic but i don't think hearing protect...

Just make sure whatever suppressor you get can handle the caliber you will shoot.

Re: .17hmr subsonic ammo
I haven't seen any. At speeds<1050fps, 22lr will be more effective. A 17HMR uses a 17gr or 20gr bullet. A 22lr uses ~40gr bullet. 17gr bullet at 1050=42ft/lb energy. 40gr bullet at 1050=98ft/lb energy.

Re: 73k fps gun shot
Are you asking if the whole chamber should be made of some different, stronger material or just the first baffle? I thought the "blast chamber" was simply the volume of space closest to the muzzle.

Re: 30-06 suppressed
The "best" suppressor is up the the user. I have a Saker 762 and it performs very well on my 30-06. It is quiet enough at the gun to not feel the need for ear plugs. That's for a few shots like hunting. If I'm at the range shooting a lot I will wear hearing protection just to be safe.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
Not trolling at all. I didn't want a air rifle projectile to get to the transonic region and affect accuracy. Many of the manufacturers claim >1100 FPS whether they can get there or not. Pellet design with a skirt is high drag. If the pellet never gets to supersonic speeds, it will be more accurate ...

When looking for an air rifle, I made a point to get a .22 and make sure it stayed subsonic.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
No I don't have one. Again just watching folks who do. I only have a gas piston springer and a CO2 powered air rifle. As fare as PCP
loudness is concerned I can only go on what others say.
One utuber review of the Hatsan rifle I have claimed the 92dB.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
I used the cheapo sound meter at work and talked to a friend while measuring. I got about 80 dB. Maybe I talk louder than normal. The meter could only sample fast enough to accurately measure steady sounds. We use it to tell how loud steam vents are.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
It's the best I got. Louder than PCP or CO2. Never had a coil spring air gun. I've had two gas piston rifles. I don't think it is loud enough to warrant ear plugs.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
Sure I don't know the exact decibels of the shot and I don't know what sound meter was used. What I DO know is the shot is quieter than the pellet hitting the steel pellet trap at 20 yards. Like I said earlier, it is backyard quiet. Google a review too.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
True springers don't silence well but I have a Hatsan 125 sniper vortex (no coil spring) and its not bad at all. It has a real can on the end of the barrel. I'm not sure what it looks like inside. I've seen video reviews of it and one guy measured the sound at 92 dB. That's a little louder than a no...

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
Oh I read is as you wanted to use the airgun silencer in lieu of the element2.
You may still have problems with different thread pitch.
Can't you get an airgun silencer from the internet? I've never looked.

Re: BSA Lightning 22 "pellet"
An air rifle is not classed as a "firearm". That's why they can have suppressors on them. Barrel length does not apply to air guns. I would not advise you take the suppressor from the air gun and put it on a real firearm. You are courting with disaster in more ways than one. First, the ATF...
