Re: Defund Police???

0101silent, you do bring up some intriguing thoughts. In an ideal world there would be an empathy test of people in childhood and the ones without empathy possessing sociopathic tendency would be 'retrained' with advanced therapy. Until then the evil of so many of our species as evidenced by the de...

Re: What we should do about the riots

This debate isn't about whether or not Floyd and Chauvin had history. It's also not about whether or not Floyd was on drugs. It's also not about whether or not the police are good people or bad people because the simple fact is that the legal system the police are employed to enforce is tyrannical ...

Re: Defund Police???

The Marxist-Socialist wet-dream of weakening America from within is coming to fruition. All the uproar against those city counsel member's lunacy misses an important consequence of their dangerous thinking: the danger to innocent citizens when thugs assault them or invade their homes. May I proffer...

Re: What we should do about the riots

It seems from the latest information I've been able to glean that George Floyd had recently tested positive for COVID-19, had a quantity of fentanyl in his body, had dropped a small ziploc bag full of white powder or pills as he was cuffed and squatted against a wall during the initial arrest, and ...

I don't understand, are you saying this is okay? A standard for order, justice, public service, human and civil rights has clearly been set. I personally don't think this is ok, but who am I to disagree? If I understood your post correctly you respect and are friends with these officers and militar...

Re: What we should do about the riots

There were three separate events that need handled in different ways. The Protests, the Riots, and the Looting. The Protestors had two grievances. (1) Police officers murdering George Floyd and (2) The Government not punishing the officers for the murder. There is a legitimate grievance when the gov...

Re: Two Deadicated, Persistent Officers.

There was a protest which attracted peaceful protestors to the scene. When destruction began it repelled protesters and attracted destroyers and vandals. With the internet in the USA recently being heavily censored there's a reason that these events are being promoted. Everything that you saw in Min...

Re: Two Deadicated, Persistent Officers.

What do you think the story would have been, had there been no video? Without a video that looked like it was scripted for tv? Anything is possible. The officers would probably be heroes for attempting to help a poor man in need during the temporary emergency. If I remember correctly the police rep...

Re: Two Deadicated, Persistent Officers.

It's worse than I realized the first the that I watched it. There were more than two people involved. It looks like they do this routinely. They thought nothing of doing this in broad daylight, in front of witnesses, knowingly on camera with no attempt at seizing the film. The video starts with the ...

Re: Help threading barrel

Your spindle mounted cat's head looks extremely useful. How do you center the stock and indicate using the four screws closest to the spindle? That will work, but an outboard spider is not absolutely necessary. A lot depends on your equipment and what you're threading. Also, you should be able to in...

With all the work needed to make a new Chinese or 70 year old American lathe accurate and reliable why not start from scratch? Why you're building a new lathe why not use new ideas and new materials?

Is there any chance that the cones are made from 303 Stainless? Purchased two 60 degree cones, one 2” spacer and one 1” spacer from a well known vendor. The cones and spacers were advertised as 17-4 PH. When I received the cones and spacers, they appeared to be 300 SS. Out of curiosity, I tested the...

Re: Creative way to drill pin wrench holes in an endcap???

When I needed precise index marks I searched Google images for a suitable PDF of a protractor. I carefully cut it out, aligned it, and used a washable Elmer's glue stick to secure it to the piece. I then used an automatic center punch to make index points.
