Re: WHat do you think of this 22 can design?
Plodder, the baffles as drawn are 1" OD at the skirt to match the tube ID, they are a 60 degree cone and end up just about a half inch long face to face. The minimum wall thickness is .047 i believe. Can doible check when I het home. The spacers are .375 long to allow the cones to nest slightly...

WHat do you think of this 22 can design?
I've taken a lot of inspiration from other projects around here. Tell me what you think of this. Going for 22lr http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i163/gaylors79/8baffle_zps3652526a.jpg The tube is .065wall 316 SS. OD is 1 1/8. The baffles are about .057, also out of 316SS. Total length is about 5.25...

That is great info. Exactly what I was after. Thank you all.
Oh, and I always hear H900 is the holy grail of 17-4, though it looks like the H1150 is still quite strong, giving up also some erosion resistance (hardness)

Does anyone have the allowable stress charts for 17-4 stainless?
I can't seem to find them online. I've been searching so long I'm cross eyed. Found plenty of 300 series charts... I will offer up this link to the Ti charts which I found. Probably old news for some of you guys but may be helpful to others. http://www.azom.com/article.aspx?articleid=1341#_Tensile_S...

Re: First ATF Ruling of 2015......applies to everyone in this forum!
That part seems to be there to differentiate what a gunsmith does as compared to what a 'manufacturer' does. At least that is what it seems like when you read the whole document head to toe. It was already outside the lines to make an 80% receiver functional that was not for your use. I.E. make it f...

Re: First ATF Ruling of 2015......applies to everyone in this forum!
The more i read through that, the more it sounds like it is targeted at machine shops and FFLs who make money helping people convert their 80% receivers in to actual guns. I'm sure in collateral damage it sweeps up the guys who charge machine or tooling time to use their home CNCs to help friends ou...

Got one waiting on paperwork as well. Will let you know how it goes in 6-9 months. FWIW, the shop we bought it at is the one that did the second video in the previous post. The Military Arms channel guy works there. The behind the camera guy runs the shop most of the time, but both of them spoke pre...

If all the equipment is owned by a Trust, and all parties using the equipment are on the Trust. . . . I am surethat loophole will be eliminated....besides, who is going to create a trust to make an AR15 or AK47 at a build party? Most importantly it eliminates the use of local machine shops that are...

Re: First ATF Ruling of 2015......applies to everyone in this forum!
So my bro and I bought a lathe and mill together. Split the cost of each. One is at his basement, the other in mine because they won't both fit in the same house. I wonder how that complicates things? I suppose we could put them both as property of the trust....

great work! Would you mind posting general dimensions of that piston? I have been playing around in my cad program trying to draw up a booster of my own and i feel like I'm over doing it. I'm not looking to copy their design, just get an idea of the dims. Like the OD of the shaft and OD of the tines...

Re: Looking to get some feedback on this concept
Samson, In that type of design, how do you determine how far apart to space the baffles? To my untrained eye, it looks like those are close enough that the gas doesn't have much opportunity to make it in to the interstitial space. I like this concept because it can make the can much shorter, but how...

Re: Another Review/critique request. 9mm boosted can.
Yes, if you look hard enough virtually everything has been patented (not just suppressors, everything). There are companies who's sole purpose exist to patent things that someone might use someday, for something, just so when they do they can say they hold the patent and sue for their portion of the...

Re: Looking to get some feedback on this concept
Capt. Link, Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure I'm 100% clear on what you are talking about, so let me test my understanding with a few questions and some info. The baffles as I have them look like this: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i163/gaylors79/baffle_zps3dab34e2.jpg There is a taper that...

Re: Looking to get some feedback on this concept
Thanks for the feedback. It is good to know I'm not totally out of the ball park here. I clipped the endcap back to 0.5", and added a regular cone in the space, per gunny's suggestion. This will give me a slightly larger blast chamber too, which is nice. I reworked the K's a little too, though ...

Not to get too far off topic... But those in search of an inexpensive cad software should check out Cubify Design by 3d systems. It was like $200 when i bought it and is pretty powerful. Not full blown inventor powerful Im sure, but not 1 grand either. I posted an assembly i did in another thread he...

Re: Can Titanium Tube be joined to Stainless Endcaps without threading?
I have not tried to work Ti on it yet, but when I was in the market for a lathe I considered all versions of the 7x lathes, and ended up with the Lathemaster 8x lathe. When you consider what was included, it wasn't much more expensive than similarly equipping a 7x, and once I got it off the truck it...

Looking to get some feedback on this concept
Guys, I've been reading like mad trying to learn as much as I can about designing my own suppressor. I've got all this information in my head, and am trying to condense my understanding of it by going through a conceptual design. So I decided to run the math on a 30cal can for 308. I came up with th...

Re: Terminology help - blast baffle vs. blast chamber
Great Thanks.
Follow up question:
Is there a difference in the blast baffle compared to other baffles? I seem to see people will make them out of a harder material for longer life, but other than that is there something that should be done differently there?

Terminology help - blast baffle vs. blast chamber
I've been reading all over the 'net about silencer parts and design, and I'm getting myself confused on the terms 'blast baffle' and 'blast chamber'. The terms seem to be used somewhat interchangeably at times, but other times it seems like they may refer to different things. So here are my question...

Why would this cost him a stamp? Isn't he just making an adapter to thread on to his Uzi, that then allows him to thread on his 45acp suppressor?
