Re: Zero shift
It depends on the repeatability ilof the mount. Steer away from mounting systems that use springs or ratchet teeth as these vary with temperature, use and wear. Taper mounts have become the standard in the industry with Excellent offerings from Dead Air, Rugged and Griffin giving very repeatable zer...

I'm using Xtreme 147 plated HP over 3.6 grains of Titegroup. Very little gunk in the action so far but also 100% reliability

Re: Loading data for 147gr for supressed PCC - N320 - Quickload Confusion
I know this is an old post but I've had great results with 3.6 grains of Titegroup behind 147 grain Xtreme plated HP. 100% reliability in my XDm with 2 different full size cans and very quiet. So far it doesn't seem overly sooty or dirty at all, though I've heard titegroup doesn't do as well with ex...

CGS Mod9
this is more first impressions than a full review but OMG, this thing is stupid quiet. A little over 100 rounds through it on my new XDm Elite (another incredibly satisfactory purchase) of my handloads (147 Xtreme HP with Titegroup) both dry any wet, it is comparable to my Mask HD on Ruger MkIII wit...

Re: Smart phones and their sound level apps.
A_Canadian is right. There are only a very few sound meters in the world that measure fast enough to capture the peak sound pressure level of a gunshot. Results will vary wildly but basically smartphone apps are of no use to us in this hoppy

Re: 9mm host pistol recommendations
I just bought the XDm Elite on sale at PSA. Let me tell you I'm IMPRESSED with this pistol. I like polymer guns but they are what they are. The Elite takes poly to another level. The trigger is FANTASTIC, really ergonomic grip, quality feeling mags, the bore looks better than my M&P after more than ...

Welcome. You bought two excellent cans, especially the Obsidian.
This site is a little slow, but stick around. There are some industry insiders here, some very talented form 1 builders and a ton of knowledge.
BTW my most recent wait was right at 6 months. Keep supporting the industry!

Re: Current gold standard for rimfire can?
Mask HD is a darn good performer.
Against my Warlock II (aluminum Spectre II) it is hands down winner with almost no FRP and nicer tone to boot.
There are lots of truly great rimfire cans on the market now but I can honestly say after a couple years with the Mask I'm still glad I bought it.

4 Years on ST
Just noticed yesterday was my 4 year anniversary on ST. A lot has changed in that time and, naturally, a lot has stayed the same. A few things I've learned in my short time: Whatever you buy will become obsolete, eventually. The industry has to stay current to stay successful (just look what's happe...

Welcome back. Lots has changed since you joined and it's a beautiful thing! Your choice is very simple: either the Rugged Obsidian 45 or the Dead Air Ghost M. I have the Obsidian and it is fantastic. Dry with factory S&B 230 fmj on my 1911, it sounds very similar to a loud hand clap only just a few ...
