Re: Air swirling in pistol and rimfire cans

I was having a hard time picturing how it would be done on a monocore but if you changed the baffle design it wouldn't be that hard. I am really leaning towards the rimfire monocore I have seen repeated several times on here(Baffled, mageever, others). Obviously I want to add my own twists. But I w...

Re: Air swirling in pistol and rimfire cans

Like the "swirl vanes" that cause the air to rotate around the bore like a hurricane. Or "flame holders" in jet turbines. -<- They look like that to divert the incoming gas stream, and deter back-flow. Yes I was also thinking about some of the one way valves you have mentioned b...

Air swirling in pistol and rimfire cans

I am bored at work and as my mind often does I am thinking about suppressor design. Today's deviations have me thinking about how to swirl the air in a can not so much for cross jetting but more to just slow and cool the air. I think cross jetting is probably a more efficient way to lower the dB pro...

Re: Threaded Barrels That Can't Be Found

I haven't seen one for a Ruger LC9 or Sig P290 but then again I haven't aimed a Google search that way in a couple years. Do you think a threaded barrel for the LC9 would even be sought after? Heck idk if people would want them or if you could even get those pocket pistols to run right with a can o...

Re: O ring fit?

The oring would be like a piston ring really just to keep gas from leaking out of a monocore the link above let me plug in the numbers I had and see how they matched up with stock o-rings. I really need to start posting pictures with my questions.

O ring fit?

I am designing a suppressor while I wait for my form 1 to be returned and I was wondering how to select and cut for an o-ring. Obviously I understand the functional process for cutting a groove in material. My concerns were the depth and width of the groove. I just don't want it to be a pain in the ...

Re: Pistol can blast in face

.355ish through a .400 hole might be a little on the tight side. I am by no means an expert but if people usually have satisfactory results using.45 caliber cans on a 9mm it probably won't hurt to look at opening it up to say 13/32nds(.406) or if you could find a 10.5mm drill bit that would be a tou...

Re: Can I get a sanity check on my dedicated .458 SOCOM plans?

"the core is composed of five stepped baffles with mouse holes or ports cut into both the front and backside". I'm having trouble picturing what that those baffles would actually look like. It almost sounds like stepped valve spring retainers with a deeply milled clip all the way through ...

Re: Question from the gurus on lathes

I have a 9x19 from harbor freight it is identical to the G4000 from grizzly tools. It's ok I guess. The spindle bore is really what kills these machines for a lot of people.

What length of tube are you using? What did you use for a bore diameter?

Kicking around the idea of a F1 45 can

I was wondering what kind of booster/ Nielson device you guys that have been there done that used. I plan to suppress a Glock model 30(45acp), a cz scorpion (9mm)odd 18mmx1thread, eventually maybe a FN FNX-45, and I'm sure if I get a can my buddy will find a threaded barrel for his 9mm glock. I am h...

Re: 9mm/300blk silencer

It's pretty common practice to make the hole a minimum of .050"-.075" over the ACTUAL bullet diameter some guys go .100"+ over I encourage you to look at the completed builds page find a 9mm can and see if they shared what bore size they chose, if not you can ask them directly on thei...

Re: 9mm/300blk silencer

You will want to use some kind of brake/flash hider mount because .300blk barrels are typically threaded 5/8-24 while 9mm barrels are often threaded 1/2-36 or 1/2-28.

Re: Silencer Design differences Supersonic vs Subsonic

Seems to me that the super sonic specific designs tend to have larger blast chambers and 2nd chambers. I assume this is for rapid pressure reduction. Bore size is also a consideration because a sub may not be as stable as a super. Barrel twist rate becomes a factor when you want to shoot subs and su...

Re: 6061 vs Full-Auto .308

As a previously certified A&P mechanic I didn't seen much 6061 aluminum in a high heat zone you will see stainless, inconel, Titanium and the like.

I was wondering what everyone thought of say 2024-T351 strictly as spacers not baffles and you would almost have to anodize it to slow corrosion.
