Help. Suppressor Accuracy Issues, Wildly Inaccurate.
I have a Sig MPX, an AAC Tirant S and an AAC Tirant. While unsuppressed my MPX is very accurate but when I put on my suppressor (either one) it is wildly inaccurate. I don't mean it has consistent POI shift, I mean it's shooting all over the place 6"+ off target at 25 yards. There are no baffle...

Anyone use a F1 FP Suppressor on a 5.56 SBR?
Wasn't really sure where to put this but this seemed to make the most sense. Is anyone using a Form 1 freeze plug suppressor on a 10.5" 5.56 SBR? How well are your freeze plugs holding up? Soon as my form 1 comes back (if it ever does, at 86 days now) if like to try it out on my SBR. The blast ...

Re: First F1 Suppressor Baffle layout opinions?
Is this a 1.5" OD build? Looks like Diversified Machine end caps so assuming it is a 1.5" solvent trap build. I've ran the 308 and 223 suppressors like this on a 22lr, with a 1.5-1.8" blast chamber, and they were extremely quiet. Good eye, it is indeed a diversified machine. You go w...

Need some layout advice *PICS*
Here are the two layouts I'm thinking for my .22 (possibly 5.56) form 1 can. I am using a TI tube and end caps as well as TI spacers. The baffles will be formed freeze plugs. I have no access to machines or welding. This is pretty much going to be the solvent trap method. I was originally just going...

Re: Can length VS Length Listed on Form 1
Essentially, what you write is what it needs to be. Careful consideration to the following: You CAN NOT go longer. To do so would constitute the need for another tax stamp. If you do, in fact, go shorter, you will need to notify the ATF for a correction on your Form 1. Ok, so it's pretty important....

Can length VS Length Listed on Form 1
How vital is it that a Form 1 can length matches what is listed on the form?
ie: I listed 7" but can turns out to be closer to six or closer to 8.

Re: Heat treating freeze plugs
T-rex beat me to it, thanks. A couple of thoughts: IF you are forced to use freeze plugs as the baffles and IF you have the ability to buy a tube that they will fit inside of without modifications then by all means take that option. With all the new info I'm getting, it seems that is getting to be ...

Re: Heat treating freeze plugs
Just go a scoche at a time and try the tube. Hit it again and try the tube. Even if it took you 3 min per FP, you'd have SS fitted baffles. Challenging yourself is a good thing. :D Sounds like a plan. Now I just need to find the SS 1.375 plugs. Freeze plug factory sells that size. Another option is...

Re: Heat treating freeze plugs
Do you have a drill press and vise or press available? You're going to need them to make the FPs. Why not get the larger SS FPs, make a mandrel to fit in drill press and spin the FPs in that. You could then turn down the OD with sand paper, file, etc. I do have those tools. And I thought about tryi...

Re: Heat treating freeze plugs
Discussion of the suitability of freeze plugs as baffles usually creates a debate. I posted an article on forming them and got a lot of correspondence as a result. The people that tried to heat treat them reported they could not notice a difference. The plugs are a really soft cold rolled steel tha...

Heat treating freeze plugs
I keep seeing people talking about heat treating and hardening the zinc freeze plugs but I can't seem to find a "how to." Any chance someone can fill me in on this process? Are heat treated plugs hard enough to be used with 5.56? I was just planning on doing a .22, but I figured if I'm gon...

Building my first can. 22LR, baffle and layout questions
I'm submitting my Form 1 on friday and will be building my can. I'm just looking to build a can for my .22LR firearms. I'll be using parts from SDTA. I'm going to build a 6" "D Cell" can. I figure that will be sufficient for a 22r. I've got a quick question about the baffles. First, l...
