Re: 30 cal Suppressor Build - Forum 1

60° will work, 50° is better for supersonic rifle rounds. You'll want more cone than those in the photo, though, the diameter of the base of the cone somewhere around 300" less than the OD. These are some I just did for a 1.625x8" .30 F1 recore https://i.imgur.com/BecYHD3.jpg Those look really fami...

Re: Form 1 recore questions

If a licenced manufacturer does the work and the serialized outer tube remains the same, then no additional tax must be paid. If you do the work yourself, each part you make will require a Form 1 and $200 tax. I suppose a guy could get away with legally re-coring a can with only one tax stamp if he ...

Re: can/should this be repaired and if so, how?

Doubloon: The Bardwell letter you quoted is the one I was talking about (was in a rush and didn't have time to quote it). It specifically talks about making new silencer parts to repair a silencer. FAQ Q3 from the NFA Handbook is instructive, but if I remember correctly there is a lot of misinformat...

Re: can/should this be repaired and if so, how?

I thought anyone could repair they're own can as long as they don't add parts. In this case, adding a sleeve would require a 07/02 but if he only needed to reweld it, isn't that legal? You can remove material, only an 07/02 can add. Welding is adding material and a manufacturing process....cans alr...

Well, there is certainly more than one way to skin a cat. Other than the aluminum grips looking silly now, I'm super duper happy.

Re: Emotional Rollercoaster - Picking up my SiCo Sparrow

The solution I decided on was to pick up a take-off 22/45 lite upper... prices to re-thread an MK start at $90 which was most of the way to a new upper, and I just can't stand adapters unless I absolutely have to have them. When I have access to a lathe again, I'll re-thread the MK III upper to 1/2-...

Emotional Rollercoaster - Picking up my SiCo Sparrow

Finally got word that my Sparrow was ready for pickup (excited). Forms mailed 2/1, card charged 4/1, approved 7/22, received 8/11 (happy). Attempted to attached to the MK III I picked up at a gun show recently, but no joy on the threads (confused). Pulled out my thread gauges and found out whoever t...

Re: HELP! I lost my original trust documents.

Since you effectively wrote it yourself anyways, just "restate" the trust, pay a couple bucks to have it notarized, and go on with life.

While you are at it, add/remove trustees/beneficiaries as you see fit.

Re: 3D Printing of 22LR supressor

The airgun guys are currently operating with relative impunity because a few years ago a felon was charged with possessing a bunch of silencers. His defense was that they where made for airguns. The court found in his favor, which set a precedent saying that it's the intent and not the capability t...

Re: 1/2x28 to 1/2x28 thread adapter?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on pistols the silencer doesn't square off against a shoulder behind the threads. It's my understanding that the muzzle face serves that function.

Depending on what can you are trying to attach, you may not need an adapter at all.

Re: Question on legal limits of bore clearance?

... Because it's the low hanging fruit in the modification detection game. The ATF wants something on paper they can stick you with that's easy to check like a dowel rod to check barrel length. JMO, it may not be the reason they haul you off but a "22lr" suppressor with a .475" bore will end up bei...

Re: 3D Printing of 22LR supressor

I know I am only allowed to have one of each. Any part would be destroyed before being copied or remade. No blanks laying around, no spare parts, no stack of test parts. With the 3D printer I will have no need to keep spares around, I will save digital copies of each part, completely eliminating th...

I would like to build my own so I am the manufacturer and I can repair, service, modify, destroy and remake them at any time and never have to worry about sending them off. Doesn't work that way. http://www.titleii.com/bardwell/atf_letter66.txt If an individual made one of these parts, even for use...

Re: Question on legal limits of bore clearance?

I('m involved on the fringes of a discussion on another forum regarding bore clearances for Form 1 silencers. In this particular thread the OP inquired about being able to change the caliber of a silencer once the stamp had been issued. While most were quick to point out that ATF very specifically ...
