Re: Any Houston, TX machinists in the house?

I live in the north east. I'm not a machinist, but I do have a lathe and a mill and a very small amount of machinist skills.

Re: A thoughtful gift

I have a similar compressor. It's great for nailers, bike and car tires...etc. I have used it with my little sand blaster before, but it's way to small for that. I don't know about the mister, but that would be nice if it would work

Exactly. I decided long ago that if I want to drink good beer and listen to something other than Ted Nugent I would have to expand my horizons. I think its part of what makes this place great.

Re: TC Contender SBR Suppressed Caliber Choice

I would do the 30 Reece (which is offered by MGM), which is a 357 mag necked down to 30 cal. I do not think that the 30-30 or the 7-30 waters are ideal for a short barreled subsonic round.

A fast twist Herret as was mentioned above is also a good choice.

Re: Do you own a watch ?

I have a couple of watches, but don't wear one or my wedding ring. I used to not be able to wear any jewelry at work, so I got out of the habit. I still have a lot of hobbies that I work around power tools, so I don't wear one much. I guess I don't need either one to keep me on task!! I do have a ph...

Not sure if you ever moved, but I like it here. Lots of open space, but also lots of winter and wind. You really cant beat the summer though. I live in Casper, its a nice town, lots of stuff, but you don't have to put up with big city crap. Decent range here in town also. I would still rather live i...

Re: What guns do you own, and why?

I've decided that I like buying guns almost as much as I like shooting them. I often times just look for good deals, shoot them a few times, and then try and sell them on gunbroker for something else. I won't sell family firearms, but everything else if fair game. I have some guns that are special t...

Re: More schools ban flavored milk.

At my daughters school (public) they have 3 kinds of milk. 1% whole and chocolate. my daughter picks the skim because she likes the color of the box better. The school got a grant this year from the gov't for healthy snacks, they get carrots, broccoli, tomatoes,...etc. if they don't like it, they ge...

Re: Hello from a NOOB and AR-10 muffler

If it was me and I already had a .308 semi auto, I would get a bolt gun. Especially if you want to hunt with it. Its quieter, likely more accurate, easier to shoot well...etc

I would think there is quite a bit you can do to the FAL to make it shoot better also.

Re: Wanted semi auto not an AR15 in 6.5 LBC/Sporter/Grendel

I think you could say that all rounds are niche rounds. Some do more than others, but there are compromises in everything. Can you hunt big game with a .223? yes (if legal) but it's not really the best for that. Can you shoot varmints with a 30-06 yes, but again its not the best for that. Even the l...

Re: Wanted semi auto not an AR15 in 6.5 LBC/Sporter/Grendel

http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/index.php Not sure if you like the Mini 14 any more than the AR. I had a friend that had one of their 223, and loved it. I don't know much about them thoug Mini-14s have a reputation for reliability. They also have a reputation for not being particularly accurate -...

Re: Blew up a can today

MIG (GMAW) is not a robust welding process. It is very easy to make welds that look good but have almost no penetration. When I used to work at a chemical plant, we had very talented welders that worked with some of the most difficult to weld metals (Duplex stainless, Inco alloys...) The hardest tes...

Of the two, I would buy the smith, because I don't want an A2 upper or a pencil barrel. I'm also not crazy about LE only markings.

Re: Braun vs Norelco shavers

I like the 5 blade fusion. the blades are expensive, but they seem to pull the hairs less, especially if I go a few days between shaves. (which I often do because I hate to shave) I haven't tried and electric for a few years, I may have to give one a try again.
