Re: BATFE E-File wait times
Form 1 filed 2-27-16 for a suppressor. Another filed 2-28-2016 for a suppressor. Nothing in either case. These where thru a Trust. My normal approval time ran 90 days plus a week or two. Are they overwhelmed with applications because of the rule change. I wanted to get ahead of the change because th...

Re: Single point threading titanium tube
The tensile strength and yield strength of Grade 2 is less than 1/2 that of Grade 9 that is SRCW (stress relieved and cold worked).
Grade 2 has a tensile of approximately 50,000 PSI. Grade 9 is 125,000 PSI.

Based on the start of this thread I have question, why would anyone be threading Grade 2 Titanium?

Rimfire
It seems to be the consensus that K baffles with a small blast chamber is the best setup for 22 rimfires. Would this also apply to 17 Mach II ? A rimfire but with a lot higher velocity.

http://i1313.photobucket.com/albums/t560/kdb46/TAB%20combo_zps0ffhknsl.jpg Made the recommended changes. Eliminated two baffles, clipped the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th baffle alternately. 1/8 inch holes drilled to create swirl. Spacers are .425 making the spacing .475. Thanks again for the help and dire...

Re: Next Form1 for a 7mm REM Mag
Thanks Joe and fishman. In the next day or two I will redraw with suggested changes. I would still like to shorten. Going from 9 to 7 baffles, would it hurt to go to .45 spacing rather then the .600 shown?

Next Form1 for a 7mm REM Mag
Next Form1 build is for my sons 7mm Rem Mag. Gun is used for hunting. Bolt action so no high volume dumps. It’s a fluted pencil barrel so I’m trying to keep the weight down. I am attaching a concept for review and comments. Barrel was threaded 1/2-28 for a brake. The approved Form1 list the length a...

Re: Cerakote
Cans will be used on Bolt Rifles with relatively a slow rate of fire. I don't expect to reach that level of heat. I have read information "OUT THERE" that indicates as the temperature of the suppressor goes up it loses some suppression effectiveness. No big deal. But what is of a concern a...

Thanks Capt. I'm having the current cans done with Cerakote 202 Arctic Black. Next round I will try GunCoat and do myself.

Re: Cerakote
Talked to Cerakote. The Transfer Grey is designed to transfer heat out of the object and will withstand 1200 degrees Fahrenheit without discoloring. The High Temp Firearms coatings will withstand 1800 degrees and are intended to retain heat. So in trying to decide which coating to use the bigger que...

Cerakote
Does a black Cerakote finish on a suppressor slow or retard the cooling of the suppressor? This as opposed to a glass bead finish on a Titanium suppressor.

Re: 338 Silencer on 30WM
SAS cans. I have an Ti Arbitor and am not necessarily a fan. It's 1.5 by 9. My problem is run-out. Mounted on a lathe chased thread (doesn't get any better than that) it ran out .016 at the suppressors muzzle. Sent it back and they claimed carbon buildup. If you have carbon buildup on one side that'...

Re: Industry Accuracy Testing Is Non Existent!
Long range shooting and hunting is a up and coming thing. Anyone that is serious about it is already dealing with precision, with quality guns, barrels, triggers and developing loads for accuracy. There are definitely designs that are better for accuracy but not necessarily for sound reduction. Supp...

Re: First Build of a Form 1
Final weight is 15.83 oz. Whiterussiam, I'm not sure where you see the slits, unless the section lines look like slits. I guess I should have just thined the blast spacer rather than cut the thru pockets. T-Rex, You have to understand this was my first application for a Form 1 build. The govt. site ...

Re: 300WM Design Help
As for size/weight vs sound, for the high pressure in Mags you might want 1.65-1.75" OD. @ 11" length you've got that covered. But P=VT/t means that you need 20xs the volume of your barrel as a guide, and mags need even more. I'm curious about this formula. The Form 1 I am working on is 1...
