IMHO and experience don't waste a $200 stamp on freeze plugs.
Also, the HPA is a long shot and won't get to the floor this year. The tax stamp refund looks to me to only apply to form4s not form1s.

Re: Feedback on .22 Mono-core design
Your second design is asymmetrical - this will also cause a shift in POI.
Are you limited to just drilling the monocore ? If not it seems like there is a lot of extra material that could be removed to increase the volume.

Re: hearing protection act
If HPA passes, suppressors would continue to be "regulated" in the same manner as the Federal government regulates long guns. There are currently 42 states where suppressors may be lawfully possessed by non-prohibited persons. Why do you think that after passage of the HPA, the politician...

Re: hearing protection act
If it passes and silencers are "deregulated" at the Federal level, then they will be "regulated" on the State and local level. For better or worse. For those of us who live in a "Blue" State, county or city we may have to deal with more restrict laws and out right bans.

A question was poised and I responded in my normal fashion.I don't filter my thoughts or speech never have never will. A few noticed that my post came after a advertisement.Adding content to a knowledge based site may net better results than posting in the amateur side of this forum. I want to see ...

Re: Baffle cone skirt to tube wall clearance
Thanks for the replies. The closest 60* cones I have found that wouldn't be over-sized are zmachineworx and they come in at 1.355 which is .012 smaller than the ID of my tube. Assuming I might be out of round some that would still likely leave a clearance of .010 or so. Would this present enough cl...

Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"
I feel that the atmosphere on this forum looks down on anyone who is not a machinist and does not own or use machine tools. The hobby builders are in a different class than the full blown machinists. Might want to give them a break and try to include them instead of chastising them because they did...

Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"
Building something and making something are two different things. That's why I posted a thread about a silencer I "build" not a silencer I "made" As far as legality - buying a part and converting it is no different than buying bar stock and making it into a silencer part. In both...

Re: First Build Help - DM Hardware
Check your rod. Is it from CNC Warriors? One of theirs was bent when I got it - I contacted them and the sent me a new one. If your rod is straight I would check your bore to barrel threads for concentricy. Also check if the tread shoulder is perpendicular to the bore. If it's not that can cause the...

I'm hopeful, just don't see it happening. But then again I did not think Trump would win either. I guess we will see.

Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "dyi"
Well I'm just a hobbyist builder, so the point for me is in executing something a bit better in quality and suppression efficiency with each new project. Not too concerned about the working time, as I do such machining after my work day's done and when there aren't any pressing chores around the ho...

Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"
Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this subject. After posting a few pics of my latest "kit" build I felt there was some push back on Form1 kit builds. As a professional machinist who works in a small job shop full time ID like to hear what most members on this forum think. Personall...

Re: $350 form1 .22 build
The Checkmate QD only cost me $75 As far as being a non machinist average joe, I'm a trained tool and die maker and CNC programmer. I could easily make 95% of this build myself but I spend all day in the shop. For the time and material cost it would take to make a one off form1 can I easily earn 2-3...

Re: $350 form1 .22 build
The radial baffles are separate from the spacers.
They are machined (turned on a lathe). First one is 17-4 stainless steel and the other 4 are Titanium
Only machine work I had to do was drill/bore the radial baffles and end cap, clip the baffles and mill the flash grooves in the end cap.

$350 form1 .22 build
Here is my latest approved form1 .22lr build. It's a DM 1.250" x 6" Titanium .22 kit with a GA checkmated 3-lug adapter. 17-4 radial blast baffle, 4 Ti radial baffles and Ti spacers. All double clipped. End cap is flash groove milled. Total cost was just under $350 https://cdn.shopify.com/...
