Re: Booster-less micro cans vs slide weight
I built an all aluminum 4" long auppressor for my 40 cal Glock. It's roughly 4oz and cycles perfect on the stock pistol. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/bjgunner/40A5CE92-509A-42F6-9028-0C4107E0369C-705-000000AA3B720002_zps1044784e.jpg But how does it sound compared to the much longer c...

Re: Want to make a 9mm can, any design suggestions?
I built one for an SBR , used titanium for the rear cap/blast chamber with a SS first baffle followed by 8 more K baffles. The outer tube , front cap and 8 baffles were all made from 7075 aluminum. . We've got thousands out rounds through from heavy sub sonics to hot hot 115 gr ammo and any wear tha...

Re: Finished 223 suppressor
Looks awesome , im sure its sound great as well
MIG welding is nice for very thin stuff like tubing because it cooler , you don't get as much of a heat effected zone around the weld , I personly prefer TIG but as long as any of them are don't properly you will have great results.

Re: Single point threading titanium tube
I feel for you guys, turning your lathe by hand. That's pretty rough. I just practiced, practiced, practiced, until I felt confident enough to do it on a real part. My lathe goes down to 55rpm. I now thread at about 220rpm. You have to give yourself some credit and go for it. Took yours and stan's ...

Re: Single point threading titanium tube
I use the 30 deg setup when threading , it's always given better finish , tool life and way less deflection allowing consistent threads. Even when using a big old heavy LeBlond lathe that I know is heavy and solid enough to make a full profile cut when I'm making something that is more than just a ...

Re: 308 design critique
What's the difference between clipping and porting? Clipping is asymmetrically enlarging the bore hole in the cone. Porting, is drilling small holes in the cones. Look up a cross section of sig Sauers 7.62 can. It's clipped and ported I did a search on Google and on this site. No luck on the sig ca...

Re: Next Form1 for a 7mm REM Mag
Would the Omega style baffles offer that much more over just a full diameter cone?? After playing with a Sig suppressor for a little bit I was impressed with how well it worked with such tight cone spacing especially on hot MK-248 ammo Sig is in the middle http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb176/Sa...

Re: 308 muzzle brake ?
Depending on how you can set it up will decide how tight you can go , I'd dialed barrels in off the ID of the bore and bored the brake to only .020" over bullet diameter and progressively reamed it at the range to see if the tighter bore showed any benefit in recoil reduction (it didn't). Id su...

the titanium will handle ALOT more than what the 300 Blackout can throw at it unless you are running full auto or a super short barrel.

Re: 80% 60deg Cones
Gents, I need 17-4PH material for my next build but the shipping cost of 1.75in(OD) X 12in(L) bar stock from US to my country is very expensive. I'm thinking to get a workshop to make 80% 60deg Cones baffle (the bore is not drilled) so I can save the shipping cost. Does it legal to do this? http://...

Re: 308 design critique
Cerakote on the internals is is pointless. It's a great finish for the outside, but will not survive on the internals. I did my 10/22 integral monocore in Cerakote and even just rimfire quickly stripped it inside the chambers. what about hard chrome? Hard chrome would be a great coating for baffles...

Re: 308 design critique
using 316 SS (even 304) as your blast baffle material would work fine and I doubt that you would ever wear it out unless you spend as much shooting as you do on your house note or unless you are running it full auto all the time. 17-4 is surely stronger that 316 but unless you have it on hand I woul...

heres the most updated design based on all your advice im going to clip and port the cones, i just didnt show it in the drawing. i went with spacer diameter as large as possible because i think that design would work best on my .270 as well as working very well on 300 blackout http://i1175.photobuc...

Re: Crowning
Neither of these methods have anything to do with accuracy. It is just a way to protect the crown from damage. absolutely false. you might argue the diff in accuracy, but if you like i can point you 1,000 different ways to why crowning is also tied to accuracy. i prefer to crown the 79 degree all t...

the 338 clearly sounds better but it is a lot bigger , like 1" longer and 300" in diameter. The 338 Ultra works great on a 10.5" AR-15 as well , better than some designated 5.56 cans it better sound good with a 300 inch diameter  Auto correct got me on that that , damn new phone...

Re: 338 Silencer on 30WM
I wonder if more material results in a deeper tone, as well as more expansion volume. I have no silencer experience but would think that a even at the same sound level that a deeper tone would sound more pleasant than a higher pitched tone. Generally a 338 size can will be bigger & heavier than...

I have a friend with a MK-13 Mod-6 and has both a TBAC Ultra 9 and an Ultra 338 , having shot both can on the gun the 338 sounds better , we've shot both Black Hills 190 gr ammo and Some Mk248 Mod-1 ammo. The Ultra 9 can works well but the 338 clearly sounds better but it is a lot bigger , like 1&qu...
