Thanks! It's a lot more interesting/fun to build them unconventionally.

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
My fault, I should have specified the first shot from each individual rifle, not the first shot in the individual strings. From what I see, your first shot, in the first string, is the only slower round.

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
Have you chrono'd your loads, w/ and w/o the suppressor attached? I bought a Magnetospeed V3 and took some rifles out to the range today. It was way too cold (for me) to enjoy a day at the range. We went to the 200 yard range because we can usually get it all to ourselves but the cold wind seemed t...

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
54r.....Mauser? Come on, you can't just casually toss that out and then withhold pictures. That's just unkind. Here's a glamor shot taken just after the paint had dried. It wears a different scope now: https://images42.fotki.com/v1650/photos/6/3852106/14448918/DSCF7009-vi.jpg It's a 98 Mauser actio...

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
I found a flash hider that when screwed onto the barrel of my Mosin held the form 1 can almost exactly 180 degrees of rotation from where it was on the Mauser. After a lot of fooling around with the scope to get the rifle sighted in I finally got down to business with the good reloads. https://image...

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
I don't have a chronograph yet, I've just started thinking about getting one. There ought to be a good sale around the end of November. I've only ever fired my standard target loads through the cans.
I marked the can on my CNC mill.

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
Yes, I've made a few of those high speed videos myself. My favorite is the PSL barrel whip video. I might drag the camera back out if I find out the bullet isnt following the can rotation. I have another rifle in 54r made with the same barrel to get a comparison from.

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
Barrel harmonics, a silencer bore that isn't perfectly concentric, and/or asymmetrical baffles are likely why. I think I need to check it out on another rifle to see if the shift follows the can rotation on the flash hider. It might be an interesting experiment. I've experienced no issues with accu...

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
Here's a question regarding POI for you more experienced builders. My 54r mauser is dialed in with my form 1can and shoots well. Yesterday I wondered where it would shoot without the heavy stainless can so I took it off and fired a couplr shots. The groups were 3" lower. Not what I expected at ...

Re: My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
The spacers are laid out in the order the rifle was shot in the video. I was pleased with the way it shot and sounded.

My First Form1 .30 Caliber Suppressor
I think I got lucky with my initial baffle spacing and what I can achieve with a 1.5" OD and 8 baffles. I took it out today and tested it on my 54r Mauser. Everything is 316 stainless but the first two baffles which are 17-4. I don't have a good decibel meter and I hesitated to take the one I h...

Re: See through silencer w/slow motion silencer testing
IMO the video wasn't about suppression, even their numbers on the proper can at the start of the video weren't impressive compared to widely available commercial units. The video only put a literal window on containment and allowed us to see how the fire and smoke act under pressure. I hope more you...

Re: See through silencer w/slow motion silencer testing
I watched the videos almost frame by frame looking for anything that stood out. The first thing I noticed was that there is black smoke coming out of the barrel in front of the bullet. It's very visible long before any flash gets to the can. My WAG is it's the pressure that bypassed the bullet befor...

Re: progressive bore
I'm far from being an expert on this stuff since I'm just finishing up my first form1 30 cal suppressor. I had a similar baffle clipping question just a couple weeks ago and didn't get much help here. I ended up using the DHC (double hybrid clip) on all of my step cone baffles and the through passag...

Here's a link to a thread in which meter testing is done on the RCS cans.

Re: Mouse hole step cone baffles?
Thanks for the information above, I had no idea that they were "drains". My rugged surge 7.62 has the clips on each baffle so I thought maybe it was required. I made this suppressor to accept the QD flash hiders used by the Surge so I wouldn't have to change the rifles according to the sup...

Mouse hole step cone baffles?
I'm nearing completion of my first form 1 build, a .30 cal with 8 stepped cone baffles. I've searched the forum as well as the net (including google images) but can find no reference or photos of a stepped cone build showing mouse holes or other passages. Does the shape of the cone (smooth vs. stepp...

Re: 41f backlog
I am 2 weeks and 4 days short of a year. I stopped holding my breath in December of last year. I have a friend who submitted paperwork back PRE 41, more than 12 1/2 months ago, and he's still waiting too. Call BATFE and check on it. I just got burned by a shitty dealer that received my form 4 in Ma...

Funny story? I got a "happy anniversary " email from silencer shop on June 26 for a Rugged Surge 7.62 I hadn't received yet. So I called their Premier Dealer in West Chester OH Again to inquire about it. I had called on May 25th and was told they hadn't received paperwork yet. The guy that...
