Cone length question

Is there any relation to cone length to diameter? Some cone baffles have a short length and smaller diameter. Others start almost at the transition of the integral spacer. Can you have too much cone?

Re: Design pressure for rimfire suppressor?

You can use anything you have on hand. Theres not enough pressure involved to worry about doing any calculations. If you were going to be doing mag dumps, I would use some 17-4 but you stated that its going to be mainly on a bolt gun.

You can still get a form 1 approved. If you are capable of making it yourself, you should have no problem.

Re: Form 1 design questions

Some of the oldest designs are really quiet. Look at some of Maxims patents. Simple can be better. 556 is never going to quiet. All you can hope for is to take some of the snap out of it.

Porting baffles

Would there be any performance gained by porting 60 degree cones with .458 Socom / .45acp subsonic?

I am going to file a few form 1's in the near future. I will try and post some pics once I get the stamp and get started.

I don’t think it will make much difference. A 16” barreled 06 is going to be loud. What TPI did you use for the end caps?

The spam needs to be dealt with. This was such an active forum. Seems everyone just disappeared. Glad that the old timers with the knowledge are still lurking in the shadows.

I would change the end cap to one with a .280 bore. Then get yourself some subsonic ammo.

As stated above, you will wind up with a suppressor that doesn’t do a good job on anything.

Pick another cartridge with less case volume. I think you will have to use a lot of poly fill to take up case volume.

Re: Choosing a route for .300blk...

You don’t want to go short. I would use at least a 8” tube and 11-13 clipped cones. You could use K’s as they work very well with low pressure rounds. If you are using a gas operated host, it’s not going to be as quiet. If you want BB gun quiet then use a bolt action.

I think we sometimes over complicate things. I know I do. This is a perfect example of a design that can provide adequate suppression and is easy to build.

This is just my opinion. If you are going to include the Fake first stage, you might as well use it for that purpose. You are adding the exrta weight so put it to use.
