Re: $350 form1 .22 build

The Checkmate QD only cost me $75 As far as being a non machinist average joe, I'm a trained tool and die maker and CNC programmer. I could easily make 95% of this build myself but I spend all day in the shop. For the time and material cost it would take to make a one off form1 can I easily earn 2-...

These look like good kits. I would personally recommend you go 8" on a .45 can though.

Re: lathe coolant systems

I think any heavy work on 17-4 could certainly benefit from coolant. Can it be done dry? Certainly. But i remember running production on these same type of 17-4 cups, on a manual machine with mediocre carbide inserted tooling, and it tends to heat ths material up. Maybe it's due to vibration, or les...

Re: lathe coolant systems

Thanks for the info folks. I knew I'd read somewhere threads containing coolant info but couldn't find them this morning. Those should give me the info needed. Thanks Ken H> We just hooked up a flood system on our lathe. I have no idea how we made it this far without it. A food grade bucket, 6 gall...

Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"

And, thats where juliet delta customs comes in. For people without a lathe, that want stuff made their way (within reason). Weve been busy for 10-12 hours a day since the first week we opened the site. The demand for 'kits' is surprisingly huge.

Nice work! I think the form1 community would certainly benefit from a diy booster! Any way we can get you to draw up a sketch?

Re: Matching Tutorial

I'm definitely interested in learning how to mill on my lathe. The grizzly gunsmith's lathe we have is much more ridgid than the HF 44991 desktop mini mill we have. I have an MT3 ER40 collet chuck with an MT5-MT3 sleeve I can throw in the spindle. I think I'll just need to figure out a drawbar for i...

Re: First F1 suppressor design - starting with a rimfire ...

That looks like a nice setup you got there. What kind of lathe are you using? We just added a flood coolant system to our Grizzly gunsmith's lathe. Does your 6 Jaw chuck run out at all? Nice machine work!

I would go 316 SS, 41xx series chrome moly, or titanium. 17-4 baffle stack. Good luck!

Re: 30 cal 1.625" Titanium w/MAAD 51T

Wow! What a juicy build. I'm doing something similar to this for a customer this week. I've been taking my time warming up to cutting the titanium, and trying to conduct as much research as possible. Can I ask what kind of machines you used to mill the flutes and turn the reduction? Beautiful work, ...
