Re: Finally got around to posting some pics of my 2011 kings
That last one looked yummy..... The others... What I feed my dog. Seems that when they're not bright, no fat, no velvety taste on the tongue.

Re: Distance to first baffle
5/8 min 3/4 max spacing between the TWO chambers. -CL Do you really think that is adequate spacing for any meaningful expansion? Serious question. I've watched a lot of slow motion videos showing muzzle expansion, and it takes it a while to swell out. pause it at 10 seconds for one example, then pa...

Re: Distance to first baffle
http://i67.tinypic.com/14c9or4.jpg So this is the host rifle. It was built for me by SSK industries. It's set up for subsonic use with a 1-8 twist. With 647 gr. pulled 50 bmg ball, shoots 1 inch groups a 100 yrds no B.S! I know the deer is small but I had to shoot something with it. The brake is a ...

Re: Distance to first baffle
So regardless of the distance, should I port the second mounting point, or try and keep that initial gas expansion separate from the blast chamber?

Re: Distance to first baffle
Thanx for that John. Don't want to port the barrel. It's going to be used at the house but not in the field because of the weight. If I made it out of aluminum it would still be heavy and big. I'm having a hard time uploading a diagram of my idea. How did you do do the drawing you posted on high/low...

Distance to first baffle
I'm building a suppressor for a subsonic 50 alaskan. Reflex design by default of the long muzzle brake. 8-60 degree 17-4 stainless m-baffles in a 12 inch long by 2 inch tube. My question to the experts here, what is the best distance from the end of the muzzle brake to the first baffle?

Re: How is this legal?- ebay listing
Yeah, I agree with fishman. What difference does it make? That muzzle brake looks bad ass. Bleeds gas outward. One mans idea. Maybe they look like flames instead? Where does the line between art, technical, and the law intersect? There really is no black/white, only shades of gray.

Re: Commercial vs "kit" vs "diy"
To all you machinists out there, kudos to you! I wish I had those wonderful machines! Lot of us on here don't though. I say for the ones who don't, don't write off a kit. These guys out there building them are the marrow of this great country. There is definitely a niche market for this. How cool to...

Wow john, way cool. I'm gonna weld mine, so taking it apart isn't a big deal. Slowing while equalizing. Very cool. If heat a heat sink is beneficial that should work

Re: Anyone experiment making high and low pressure in cans?
i thought about doing something similar to relieve pressure only maybe too aggressive. What if a tube about the size of a gas tube on an ar maybe two, was placed 180 degrees apart running lengthwise with the outside tube going through each baffle into the back portion of the reflex chamber and out t...

Re: Rocket scientist help wanted
Yeah, I agree. Thinking about drilling a 1/8 hole in he center of the plug and then using a plumb bob for the press in the vice. The hole should stretch. Gonna play around with it. Both as a cone and m- baffle. I like the two point mount. What do you think about using a JIC fitting. My build is all ...

Sub-sonic, exactly what I'm thinking! I have enjoyed reading your posts. You definitely inspired me to build this project. I read "how to build military grade suppressors .22 thru .50 bmg by Keith Anderson. But other than that and going though endless threads this is All I know. Really liked th...

Re: Rocket scientist help wanted
I have some washers that fit the brake and the end very snuggly. Im going to weld the ends on as well as the tube to the brake so that it screws on and off like any other can. No set screws. Seems the problem is that the can parts are too big and there aren't any pre made cones or baffles or threade...

Re: Rocket scientist help wanted
The goal...make it as quiet as I can. Priority, Have had the experience to have successfully built a worthy suppressor with little. I have a drill press, nice stick welder, grinders, dremmels, cuff-off wheels. I have a piece of stainless muffler pipe that I'd like to use for the tube. It's 24inches ...

So I want to apologize to some of the members here. I realize now after reading some prior posts that there probably are real rocket scientists on this forum. Re: noob 50 alaskan build
Has anyone ever tried putting a tube or two about the size of a gas tube on an ar from the muzzle back to the reflex chamber to drop pressure? Welded to the end cap above or below where the bullet exits.

Re: noob 50 alaskan build
Thanx for that. While talking to JD Jones about this subject, he told me the suppressor should telescope over the barrel. I assumed he was referring to the reflex design. My subsonic load uses 29 gr. of h110. Doesn't seem like a huge amount of powder to quiet. Can I go shorter and smaller?

Re: noob 50 alaskan build
Yeah, I get the weight thing. The rifle is however very light and short. Also, I'm pretty good at welding steel but have no experience with Ti, Al or any other exotic. No tig experience, or machine tools. I'm thinkin' 4" over the barrel, 1 1/2" blast chamber and 6 baffles formed with a bal...
