Aluminum tube standing up to heat and pressure? Titanium spacers.

It is a given that aluminum is weak and can fail very fast with an bar and rapid fire but how do the other parts of the suppressor play a part? If you have titanium end caps and stainless baffles and titanium spacers, how much heat do they soak up and do the spacers bear the brunt of the pressure wh...

That’s going to be difficult. He could just do an integral, much easier than messing with alignment rods for individual baffles.

Re: 30 cal build idea

If you're going through all the trouble, why settle for less? Going from a 1.5 OD to a 2" will increase initial weight by 35%, not counting the 90% more your end caps will be. You could use an 8" length of 1.5 tube and have a much better design, and be < the weight of the larger one. A longer, narr...

Re: will parkerizing effect threads on suppressor?

Have a can in the works, tube and end caps are 4130 and 4140. It will be a welded can, but i have the mounting hole threaded. It's going to be a direct mount, 1/2-28" threads. Do I need to cover the threads somehow, or will it not really matter? I’d parkerize them to protect against corrosion but w...

Re: M? Baffle Design. Please evaluate

I have an idea for you. First off, have the tube body be 17-4 stainless for the best durability but grade 9 tubing could also work or grade 5 from bar stock, depends on budget and ability. You’d need to get bar stock and hollow it out. Make it thin walled too. Have it be modularized with two section...

Just make it normally, don’t do different Id or anything like that.
No ones going to care, manufactures make it like that, no reason you aren’t able to as well.

Did you think about doing an inconel or stellite blast baffle(s)?
Maybe doing a different baffle design like that of the griffin suppressors?
Some ideas for a future project perhaps.

Re: Obsidian or Griffin Resolution 9 mm?

Out of those two I'd probably go Griffin if you plan on putting in on a rifle sometimes. Overall, if I were buying a 9mm can, I'd get a CGS Kraken. Why would you go with baffles made from 7075 aluminum vs heat treated 17-4 stainless? I was under the impression that the Griffin is more versatile. Am...

Re: increasing vs decreasing space between cones

I think the mushroom cloud we see is just the same as the mushroom cloud from an atomic nuclear explosion. At first, the energy is so high that it rushes straight up, so fast that no sideways expansion happens. The low pressure of the air around it is of little concern. Then after travelling some d...

Re: Looking for Opinions on the best 5.7/22mag suppressor

Why not form1? B cell tube from sd tactical and their caps with their booster or a booster from liberty which is stainless vs aluminum(and their fixed spacer mount for rifles). You can get spacers and cones from totality industries or from rusty at form1 suppressors if he offers them now. I’d go all...

Re: Obsidian or Griffin Resolution 9 mm?

I’d say the griffin. Several reasons. It uses 7075 t6 for the tube which is much better than 6061 aluminum. Griffin is a more established company than rugged suppressors It is rated for more calibers and at fairly short barrels even if you do have to wait to cool after 7 rounds. There are many acces...

Re: increasing vs decreasing space between cones

A couple of small things I'm going to note. Blackout subs don't reach near 50k psi even at the chamber and certainly not at the muzzle. But I'm going to assume that you're just using 50k as a reference. Usually, a large expansion chamber exhibits a lot of first round pop. The more oxygen there is t...

Re: increasing vs decreasing space between cones

But does it matter? That's what I'm curious about. Let's say the force is stronger in a particular area of the can. But why does that mean the chamber in that area should be large. Or small. Online I see theories going in both directions. Does it matter, and why? I honestly don't know. Because a la...

Re: dead air mask .22 (anything else better?)

The 'chubby' Aguila SSS 60 gr .22lr is a slow ~950 fps. It fires easily in an 1:8 twist barrel, e.g., the extraordinary Ray Brandes S&W 41 barrel. Like hearing results from anyone using the 'chubby' in their pistols. Some good YouTubes on their firing from rifle. More expensive than some others but...

Why not pin a QD muzzle device instead? Don't get me wrong, I have several dedicated designs, but why perm attach if not needed? Also, your nice warranty is most likely toast. The state I live in does not allow threaded barrels or muzzle devices such as muzzle brakes or flash hiders. Looking around...

So the groove would be a ring or multiple rings? Is the chamber just as it is, with the end of the chamber where the case sits against, and in the chamber you have ringed grooves?

Re: 460 rowland suppressed - mac10 clone DIY delayed blowback

You probably should delay the blowback since you plan to suppress it. A groove in the chamber should do it. Is there a more proper name for this delay system? I’d like to read more about but haven’t really found anything on it. Is it a single helical helical groove in the chamber or multiple? How d...

Re: 460 rowland suppressed - mac10 clone DIY delayed blowback

I called masterpiece arms and they said that they didn’t change the bolt weight or the spring. The bolt was just a little over 30 ounces and they just reamed the barrel for 460 rowland. I probably won’t need to go with any sort of delayed system or if I do I would do the helical groove chamber metho...

Has anyone here done really short baffle spacing? Specifically for 9mm. I’m thinking .5 for the first two followed by .25 to .375, or is that way too short? I figure that more baffles is better for lower pressure cartridges like 9mm. For example, the griffin micro 22 is 5-8 dB louder than other lig...
