Re: Industry Accuracy Testing Is Non Existent!

When we are updating an older suppressor model/family or introducing a new one, accuracy and point of impact shift testing is routine. This is to determine the accuracy and point of impact swift with quality weapons with properly threaded barrels, quality ammunition etc. Most often this correlates w...

Re: Massive blowback in Colt AR .223 with ASE-UTRA SL5 .30 cal

Hi, Suppressors typically do increase blowback and fouling, apart from a few quite different, recent designs. How much lubrication was there on the gun, ie. just thinking if it was quite heavily lubed that some of that blew out. Also, the suppressor should feature less blowback as it was a .30 cal m...

Resurrecting an old thread ... once again it comes to life  I now own an A-Tec Carbon 2 -- to put a bit of "quiet" on my Steyr .376 "Scout" (Named the "Dragoon" by Jeff Cooper) It is a very light combo, and my 300 grain Sub-loads are very quiet ... Re: Borelock mounts?

Hi, Yes, currently we offer in the BoreLock flash hiders either a bird cage type or the 4-prong HiPer flash hider. In addition we have the BoreLock mounting collar, intended for the user who wishes to keep his existing muzzle device on the 1/2"x28 UNEF threaded barrel. With the BL mounting collar, m...

Re: Do Digital Sound Meters meet testing requirements?

90% of consumers will never know they are getting sold on sound reduction numbers that are bogus. On the low end (22 suppressors and quality 9mm suppressors) this won't usually be a huge issue, but on stuff that is borderline, these digital meters mentioned are producing numbers that could potentia...

Re: New SIG 762 can

Nice to see other manufactures adopt the welded, tubeless technology into use. Many ways of manufacturing suppressors, but at least in our experience there are quite a few benefits from this type of construction. Most of our centrefire calibre suppressors have featured a fully welded tubeless constr...

Re: jesse james new can, 10db quieter than the best?

With a DI operated 5.56 mm AR15, you are usually looking at the following suppressed SPLs ( depending on the barrel length )

1 m left of the muzzle, c. 133-140 dB
Shooters left ear, 128-135 dB
Shooters right ear, 141-145 dB

Re: Anyone Else Notice?

EU directive 2003/10/EC requires that noise must be suppressed at the source if it is technically possible, hearing protectors etc. being only a secondary means of protecting the person. So that is the main reason why government gamekeepers and hunters in the UK are using suppressors, UK being prett...

Re: POI change suppressed v. un-suppressed - Is this normal

For testing POI shift, I would really recommend the following to elimnate the shooter induced variables as much as possible. - Good support for the weapon ( prone, front and rear supported ) - Match Grade and regular ammo - 100 yards or meters - Enough magnification on the optic - I prefer to use an...

Re: ASE Ultra Z Jet

Chris, Good to hear! It is very unlikely that we will have a pistol suppressor for service calibres soon, yes there is some demand, but it is more of a niche product. We have been focusing on improving our rifle calibre suppressors, the BoreLock attachment family and we also just introduced a .50 BM...

Re: Mini 556 cans?

The minis are not as quiet as a full size can, but when you are dealing with a LOUD system like an AR in 5.56, it doesn't make all that much difference. To the SHOOTER and Mini4 sounds very very close to an M4-2000 even though it doesn't meter as quiet at the muzzle. If you're looking to take the e...

Hi Buddy , Just a couple of things , Tuuka works for the company , he does not own it . Realise that they have 2 main types of baffles , Jet-Z ( black steel ) & the S type ( stainless steel ) . Also as far as I know they are cast baffles then welded . if that makes sense , so the design of the baff...

Re: Do these Silencerco ads seem like a good idea to ANYONE?

I really applaud the work that Silencerco/SWR has done for suppressor awareness in the U.S. But in my opinion the message does not really convey well with these, if it has to be explained further on even to gun owners. Keep doing the good work that you are doing now  Best Regards! Tuukka Jokin...

Should the M4-2000 be cleaned (aside from the mounting components) when used on an SBR? If so, how (assuming no sonic cleaner available)? If not, will carbon build-up when used on an SBR hurt it long-term (before the baffles burn out and it would otherwise "die" will it fill with carbon enough to h...

Re: Surefire fail safe suppressors

According to their marketing, it's that due to the shape of the baffles (rounded), a bullet that is unstable and hits a baffle is more likely to continue out the front of the can rather than hitting a sharp angle baffle and being deflected out the side of the can. I've seen a lot of baffle strikes ...

Don't know enough about the rest of Europe, but in Scandinavia it's fairly straightforward. In Sweden they must be registered, while Norway, Finland and Denmark have no regulations. Due to the change in the EU firearms directive and also the change in the Finnish gun law, suppressors are now offici...
