Re: Drilling Misshap
I don't see why you couldn't drill the baffles? Even if the metal was work hardened, 17-4 reaches a max Rc of >50. Carbide, even uncoated, is very capable of penetrating this. I thought there was mill access? If so, did you try trochoidal milling? That would definitely chewed threw even the hardest...

Re: Drilling Misshap
We couldn't save either of the baffles due to the holes already put in them. We put them on a bench sander and we got one to .42 and another to .47. https://preview.ibb.co/gpn0p5/52572763602_6354_E032_F5_D4_4_AA3_9_CE3_27_DF174518_C4.jpg Should I still consider using them? I've already cut a spacer ...

Re: Drilling Misshap
The condition of the cones will be difficult to drill on center with a drill press.. The best way to salvage these cones is contact Rusty over at form 1 suppressors and have him fix your cones. He has done machining others said could not be done. In addition he has built more silencers of all types...

Re: Drilling Misshap
Invest in a lathe and milling machine. I still use my drill press every once in a while but it isnt nothing compared to my Index 645. If I considered getting a lathe it would be this one. https://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-x-12-inch-precision-mini-lathe-93799.html However in 7 years I have never ...

Re: Drilling Misshap
Assuming those are stainless steel? Do you know what alloy? Most likely those colored areas are work hardened and you're going to have trouble drilling them out without a lathe and carbide tooling. Obviously they were drilled way too fast, and without enough feed pressure. Most of the common cheap ...

Drilling Misshap
I started drilling my baffles this week with the help of a friend. This friend has a degree in metallurgy and offered to help drill out the baffles with a bench-drill. I left to go buy a hacksaw and came back to him drilling the cones and spraying WD-40 into them to cool off the drill. He had alread...

Re: Form 1 Typo
Not sure I saw it, what velocty projectiles are you running? HV, SS or both? Are you buying baffles (80% storage cups) or making them yourself? I think you should be ok to go 8.5" OAL. Bring your spacing down a bit. Maybe more like .5". And give yourself a larger chamber before exit. Inco...

Re: Form 1 Typo
Thank you for the responses. I got a piece of tube and hand sanded it down until it went into the body. This is my final design I'm still deciding whether or not to add .25 of a in to the spacer so I don't have to cut that extra spacer at the end. https://preview.ibb.co/b9NpnF/Final_Design.jpg uploa...

Re: Form 1 Typo
A question on clearance. I have a SS spacer tube at 1.32 OD 1.10 ID and when placed into a 1.35 tube I'm left with .03 of clearance. If the baffle holds it centered leaving .015 of clearance between the spacer and suppressor wall should the spacer still be used? https://preview.ibb.co/d2V34k/IMG_656...

Re: Form 1 Typo
Id say your ok with the caliber engraving mishap. You're allowed to engrave whatever you want so the decimal point is just an addition. You've met the requirement to engrave "308". Next time, register it as 30cal. Your design is huge. Is this going on a FA firearm, by chance? A 3" bl...

Form 1 Typo
When I submitted my form 1 I put "308" as the caliber box but when my tube was engraved ".308" was put on it. Do I need to get another tube because of addition of a engraved period, or does the ATF allow for common caliber names? My suppressor is looking to be about 12 1/4 in and...
