Re: Just a little something for fun
Best description for that would be muzzle weight.
Nice design work, but unfortunately, reflex designs are inefficient at best. Put features in the reflex portion that inhibit flow, efficiency is worse still. You'd get more suppression out of a 5" K can.

Re: Baffle Clip Advice requested
For subsonic/low pressure stuff, double radiused clips ~40% of aperture diameter with depth slightly less than or equal to clip width. For high velocity applications, single radiused clip ~ 50% of aperture diameter and depth 100-120% of width. Always aligned, whether single or double. I wouldn't was...

Re: Can this be repaired?
Thanks for the clarification. That should save some time by having it done locally. :) Just remember that if they're not an FFL/SOT, you can't drop it off with them, as it would be illegal for a non-SOT who isn't a registered owner to possess the can in your absence. You will need to be present the...

Re: Non threaded Springfield
If a threaded barrel is available, that's usually the best choice.
But yes, most any pistol barrel can be threaded and have an extension made for it, do them all the time.

Re: Can this be repaired?
Only a SOT 7/02 can legally repair a finished can. Contact one and learn if they can replace the near endcap with something that works. If it threads on, should be easy to replace. Otherwise, they will weld it. Don't have to be an SOT to make repairs, only required to manufacture new parts. A non-S...

Re: Centerfire bolt action, Integrally suppressed?
Finally got around to chronographing with the 18" ported barrel (30 ports from the 14.5" to 17" mark) on this integral. 7mm-08 proved to be a good choice. With a 46.0 gr. charge of H414 (not a max load), 150 gr. bullets averaged 2,641 FPS. These loads would probably clock around 2750-...

Re: Centerfire bolt action, Integrally suppressed?
Mind if I ask how you mounted that, I like the looks. I'm assuming some type of 2 point mount, a taper on the breech end? It's essentially a 10.5" tubeless muzzle mounted suppressor with a big tube over it that extends back to the receiver. The barrel is ported, and there is a collar with O ri...

Re: Stainless steel alloy choices for silencer construction.
It has been a while. Ecco. If I’m not wrong you where machining these, than heart treat them to 900. Assemble and weld, machine the outside after fusioneelding than heat again to 900 right? I used to heat treat then weld. This was due to my constraints with heat treating larger parts and assemblies...

Re: Centerfire bolt action, Integrally suppressed?
.308 class cartridges are about perfect for an integrally suppressed rifle that still has enough oopmh to do things like hunt big game or print small groups at several hundred yards. You're still going to give up some velocity if you want something that's not a truly long stick, but the short action...

Re: Re-smithing commercial can ?'s and input
As an SOT, it's not like you're invested with the stamp and wait you'd want to preserve as a F4 transferee. Sell them dirt cheap with fill disclosure and build from scratch instead of trying to work within the limitations of a junk tube that's set at length of F2. And yes, I know what those are. 416...

There's nothing you can do to shorten the mount or muzzle device that won't negatively affect function.

Re: combo machines 3 in 1 lathes and mills
You won't see manual combination machines in professional shops. There's a reason.
IMO, they should be avoided entirely. The only things they excel at are wasting time and causing frustration.
Some folks liken them to CNC millturns. They aren't remotely close.

This. Integrals are pretty much a waste on semi auto .22 rifles.

Re: What would cause inaccuracy when hot?
I didn't chose that bore arbitrarily, it was a decision based on previous results. If dealing w/ cones, I'd agree about tightness. However, K's rely on trapping gas and the more you trap the greater the design's efficiency. I've found that they (K's) can benefit greatly from a tighter bore. Depends...

Re: What would cause inaccuracy when hot?
Not sure of OP's design, but I've done 9mm K's (what the OP is using) w/ a bore of ~.386. That's only 16thou clearance, per side. No issues w/ accuracy and marginal POI shift. I'd say that was more luck than anything. I would never go less than .040" diametral clearance, usually run .050"...

Re: What would cause inaccuracy when hot?
A 6-inch offset at 50 yards sounds to me like a Bernoulli effect. The bullet isn't rubbing baffles, it's just getting so close that the pressure on the edge is pushing against the bullet and changing its course slightly the air is acting like a bearing. I agree. .400" is pretty tight for 9mm. ...

Have access to a smallish stick welder - a 120amp that runs off 110V plug. Have a can I'd like to weld with it. Since I know about nothing, have 2 big questions for now. Just don't. Even back in the day when I was regularly using stick and well practiced, I wouldn't have used it for this purpose. Y...

Reading "US ARMY FRANKFORD ARSENAL SILENCERS PRINCIPLES AND EVALUATIONS" where they evaluated .22. Figure of 24,000 PSI chamber but 1,000 PSI estimated at muzzle. It puts the lie to Hollywood's cartoonish use of 'soda bottle plastic suppressors' by secret agents on the run. You're forgett...

Re: Form 1 Maker when is it officially made?
What you're asking/thinking about would be illegal. It's a silencer when it meets the definition, not when you say so. Well, sort of. Technically, it's a silencer as soon as you bore the end cap and assemble that onto the tube. But that doesn't mean it's illegal for the F1 maker to manufacture the ...

ECCO Machine, in your pistol can the baffles seem to snap together to keep them aligned, but in the pic you posted of the rifle suppressor internals, they do not. Is there a specific reason for that? The rifle can pictured is pre-assembly; it is a fully welded tubeless suppressor. The clips are ali...

By the sounds of it, my baffle design specifically need some work. But generally speaking, what plays into the desicion to go with Ks, cones, or slant washers? I'm trying to learn here, but the impression I had going into this was that Ks (obviously better designed ones than mine) were superior in ...

Re: Form 1 design for an FN1900 in .32 ACP
Personally, 'd just fill the volume with cones, but K's can work, too. I just don't think 4 K's will do as good as however many cones you could stuff in there (probably ~8). This. My .32 ACP pattern is a 1.125 x 6.5 .035 wall Ti tube with one 17-4 conical baffle and ten anodized 7075-T651 conical b...
