Re: CZ SP01 vs Sig P226 (and also SW M&P 2.0) 9mm hosts?

Thanks for the replies here and on similar questions I made here. About a month ago, I acquired an LE trade-in P226 in 40. With some help from the guys on sigtalk.com, I was able to fit a Barsto semi-fit threaded 9mm conversion barrel. I finally tried it today, and it was awesome. It was indoors wit...

Re: CZ SP01 vs Sig P226 (and also SW M&P 2.0) 9mm hosts?

I have the fever for a Sig P226 9mm as a host. Reading here and elsewhere, it’s regarded as one of the quietest 9mm hosts. It’s so expensive, though, I’m just wondering if it would be much quieter than my CZ SP01. I’d hate to spend $1,200 - $1,400 and then it’s not really much quieter. I know it’s ...

Questions about running suppressor wet.

Please advise if there’s an article or “sticky” here as a guide to shooting suppressors wet. I couldn’t find one. I have a Rugged Obsidian that I’m pleased with, but I’ve only shot it dry thus far. I’ve been searching different types of ablatives, but I guess my concern is do you have to clean/dry t...

Aftermarket Glock 21 threaded barrels for $150 or less?

I've got a spare 21 frame and slide, both Gen 3. I'd like to set them up for suppressor use. I already have a .578 x 28 piston. I don't anticipate this build seeing a lot of use, so I was hoping to stay around or less than $150 as I'll have to buy some high sights as well. Here's a short list I put ...

Re: Suppressor height sight recommendations

Just in case it helps anyone else with a similar build, I finally got around to finishing the P80 G17 Gen 3 clone build. Even though they were all black (no dots), I went with Ameriglo Gl-507 sights. The front sight is 0.407" high, or about 10.3 mm high. They turned out to be the perfect height...

Re: CZ SP01 vs Sig P226 (and also SW M&P 2.0) 9mm hosts?

I visited LGS this afternoon. It’s also an indoor range and Class III dealer. FWIW, one of the employees there recalled shooting a CZ SP01 and a Sig P226 in the same session with the same ammo. He couldn’t recall which suppressor was used but that it was the same on 3 or 4 hosts. He said he preferre...

Re: Octane 9: Looking for top tier 9mm pistol host for dedicated range role. Heavy, low bore axis, no gas in the face.

I have a FFL and a SOT and have tried over the years to get individual parts from suppressor companies... other than end caps and the mounts they won't sell you anything like a baffle or a spacer and technically even if all you did was to cut a piece of aluminum tubing to make a spacer in a suppres...

Re: Octane 9: Looking for top tier 9mm pistol host for dedicated range role. Heavy, low bore axis, no gas in the face.

You have a great gun, the best economically commercially available subsonic ammo and a fantastic suppressor. Did you get the 45 Obsidian or the 9? I've been using my Obsidian 45 with the right pistons and the 9mm end cap and it does a pretty good job but sound tests show that a can optimized for 9,...

Re: Octane 9: Looking for top tier 9mm pistol host for dedicated range role. Heavy, low bore axis, no gas in the face.

S&W M&P 9's are mentioned multiple times as good hosts. Does this apply to the M&P 2.0 9mm as well? I have an M&P 45 2.0 that's suppressor ready. It's pleasant to shoot but does have a fair amount of blowback, but I've only shot it with Remington green/white box 45. I'm wondering if ...

Re: Silencer back pressure/ sonic cleaning

Can Purple Power be used on Stainless Steel and Aluminum? Do not use Purple Power on Stainless Steel or Aluminum as it could leave white streaks or a hazy film. If accidentally used on Stainless Steel or Aluminum and you have this residue, try buffing with a Metal Polish, such as Wenols or Mothers ...

Re: Silencer back pressure/ sonic cleaning

I've used Purple Power in a small crock pot to clean my rimfire suppressor for a couple of years. Be careful with that. Purple Power is highly caustic, contains sodium metasilicate. It'll eat bare aluminum pretty quickly. Personally, I prefer to put 3 or 4 CCs of plain old H20 in them, fire off a c...

Re: Suppressor height sight recommendations

Yes, that's exactly the set I have. They installed easily with my MGW sight pusher. Also, remember that the dots are .062" below the top edge of the sight. So they may be tall enough. One more thing I didn't think of ahead of time. Some holsters don't fit anymore :-( Again, hope that info help...

Re: Silencer back pressure/ sonic cleaning

And for cleaning the octane 45 what kind of sonic cleaner and solution would you recommend I've been eyeing an ultrasonic cleaner as well. I'm leaning toward the Hornady 2L Lock and Load. I look forward to see what others are using. I've seen lots of online videos of folks using 50/50 Purple Power ...

Re: Octane 9: Looking for top tier 9mm pistol host for dedicated range role. Heavy, low bore axis, no gas in the face.

I just bought a cz P-09 for the free silencerco octane that I will be getting. I hear that sp01s are bad hosts. Are P07 and P-09s as well? My ideal handgun would be a double stack 1911 in 9 or 45. Threaded with tall sights. Weird. I have a CZ 75 SP-01 that came suppressor ready, and it's very pleas...

Re: Suppressor height sight recommendations

Loboloco, I've been studying these sights and have one more question. Is the rear sight installed using a sight pusher or hammer/punch? Or is it held in the dovetail by adhesive and a set screw? I've installed a few rear sights using a sight pusher and a stone if the base was a bit too wide, but I'v...

Suppressor height sight recommendations

I’m looking for iron sights to use in conjunction with a Polymer 80 G17 clone hosting a Rugged Obsidian. I prefer something with plain white dots but will take tritium. I’d like to avoid black sights (no dots) if at all possible. The top edge of my Rugged Obsidian sits about 9 – 10 mm higher than th...

Quieter 45 loads?

I read in another thread here that IMI/Fiochhi/PPU 158 gr subsonic loads were much quieter than most other subsonic loads besides maybe HUSH. I need to break in a new Obsidian 45. I've ordered some IMI/Fiochhi/PPU in 9mm, but what are the quieter 45 loads? I've read that all 230 grain 45 is subsonic...

Does anyone make adjustable suppressor height sights?

Sorry if this has been asked before but didn't see any posts when I searched. I've been googling and binging, but I can't find adjustable suppressor height sights. I saw some "flip" sights that flip from standard to high sort of like an AR rear aperture sight, but nothing that's like a sta...

FWIW, I purchased an Obsidian via a trust in April. The check was cashed on 4/16, and the stamp came in yesterday, 11/24. 222 days from check cashing to receipt.

Hope that helps, or better yet, hope you've already received the stamp since posting!!

Re: Piston and spacer or fixed spacer?

That helps my decision. Thanks. I think I'll go with a fixed spacer. If for no other reason, I saw a couple of youtube videos where folks forgot to put the spacer on/over the piston on a carbine, and it wasn't pretty. The greater volume can't hurt, either. I'm glad to know the Obsidian works well wi...
