Are you trying to get it clean for some reason or simply removing buildup to allow reassembly with most of the grime out of the way?
If you are trying to get it clean what is the upside compared to just getting it sort of clean?

Re: Teflon tape
Just thinking out loud... Blue Loctite is designed to loosen when heated. Teflon tape is designed to lubricate and fill gaps sealing leaks. Definitely not a thread locker. Teflon tape being something of a gap filler will want to fill the space between barrel shoulder and endcap face. Might not be un...

Re: Advice plz: 5.56 end cap hole size, engraving location
You need to verify alignment. If you have total indicated runout of less than 0.01" (0.005" misalignment) at the endcap and your endcap hole is actually centered you might get away with boring 0.28" but that is a snug fit. I would consider 5/16". You also need to inspect the thre...

Re: Volume vs performance
Smaller can be better if absolute suppression effect is not your only priority. I personally find even the sound of a .22LR undesirable in any situation I find myself in. If I am just out walking in the woods and plinking I want the suppressor to be unobtrusive and knock the sound down to hearing sa...

Volume vs performance
Does anyone know if there's compiled data regarding Volume vs suppression performance? I've been contemplating on larger volume can and still have some inclination to head that direction. However, the engineering thought process I keep returning to is that I would need to double the volume of a can ...

Re: What would cause inaccuracy when hot?
A 6-inch offset at 50 yards sounds to me like a Bernoulli effect. The bullet isn't rubbing baffles, it's just getting so close that the pressure on the edge is pushing against the bullet and changing its course slightly the air is acting like a bearing. By way of example if you have a mild rub it wo...

Re: Form 1 Design Flexibility
So, if I were to have two kits for 6" fuel traps and were to part one tube section (5.5") into extensions that retained 1.5" and 3" respectively which would be able to add 1" or 2.5" to the overall length of the tube it could conceivably be configured as a 6", 7&qu...

Re: 1st Silencer Purchase
Not a lot of experience here but I tend to believe a silencer rated for .30 Win-Mag as well as bored to accommodate 9mm will perform reasonably on any .30 high power rifle and well on any 9mm shooting subsonic loads. You would likely want a narrower bore if shooting subsonic loads from your 30 calib...

Re: Form 1 Design Flexibility

Re: Cutting Up My Cans... Or selling them
Take them to nearby FFLs that sell cans and offer them on completion of the transfer paperwork. Any such FFL should be happy to receive them unless they truly are low value. If they are low value they can be surrendered to BATFE with an appointment. If you sell them on form 4 paperwork it may take o...

I would not recommend 1x6" but might do 1x8". May I ask why? One of the quietest 22lr, muzzle threaded, designs I've done was right at 1"OD x 5.25"LG. Because not everyone has your skills and abilities. If I were to hazard a guess I would categorize you as a detail oriented tech...

I’ll be shooting most hogs about 50-60 yards then if I’m stretching it probably max about 150. I just want something a little quieter. I’m not sure what to buy once I get approved for the form 1. Some folks consider the Grendel an 800 yard rifle. I don't really know about 800 but am confident it wi...

Re: Form 1 builder.com
You will need a build that is adequate for a .223 or 5.56 AR15 or a 7.62x39 to compare with the Grendel. You might look for people with hands on experience with those. My reasoning is the Grendel is based on the 7.62x39 and has a similar energy capacity of about 1,400 foot pounds. Places selling sim...

I could not comment on their service or quality but the variety of what they have to offer even with them being out of stock on about half their products is a lot more comprehensive than what you might find on Aliexpress. That said their prices are about 10 times as high. If you are hunting hogs wit...

Re: Anyone experiment making high and low pressure in cans?
Looking at the images above has me wondering. 1. Is that a ~2" barrel or is it a ~6" thoroughly ported barrel? 2. What sort of muzzle velocity are you getting and with what ammo? 3. What tricks are you using to get the 10/22 to cycle or are you manually cycling? 4. If you are manually cycl...

Re: Cleaning a sealed rim fire suppressor?
How about an ultrasonic cleaner in a 2.5 Liter or 3 Liter tub size. Making certain the tub's long dimension is longer than the part you plan to soak. Around $70 to $120. I see you think Ultrasonic is a nono for Aluminum... Why? I could see it being a tough call if not removable from the receiver. Da...

Since this is your first build and you are the only one knowing your tools and skills I might suggest you consider the above post is likely based on confidence that your can and baffles are fairly precisely centered. If you are drilling baffles with a hand drill and if you bought your threaded endca...

Measuring Sound Levels
I have read a number of instances where suppressors are being compared by taking sound measurements near the ear of the shooter. I can see the reason for wanting to know what the effect is there. But, really... Wouldn't it be reasonable to set the meter a bigger distance from the discharge? My reaso...

I would think a tunnel rat would have been tickled to have a suppressed 380 semi auto pistol. I know I would not want to be carrying a 1911 .45ACP or any type of .22 rimfire if I had that job. Come to think of it, I am pleased as can be to have never had that job.

Re: hole pattern on K baffle design
One thing worth noting when discussing cones compared to K or M baffles is that suppressors for any supersonic projectile have a lowered performance expectation because the sonic crack of the projectile is impossible to suppress. Once you start dealing with a projectile that generates 120dB from 3' ...
