Renegade, what a laugh. Everyone understands the law but me? Ok - SHOW ME PLEASE. one caveat, don't give me your opinion, don't link me to international arms trafficking legislation that isn't used in domestic export. So again... it fails to meet the criteria for all; ITAR Department of Export EAR D...

Thanks Mongo, but no - only popping over to the US for a short trip. Rob why buy Leupold? - it is outside the price range (twice the price here)... The argument was about cheap scopes - I was stupid enough to buy into all of the US based reviews that for the price it was an incredible scope. As stat...

Call it a semantic game all you like, its a simple fact and it is what occurs every single day when interpreting legislation. Clearly you lack a basic understanding of the legal principles of international law.... Check the NATO website http://www.nato.int/ NATO is an alliance of countries (26) comm...

Any definitive answer
Again http://www.bis.doc.gov/news/2002/sturm_ruger.htm Excerpt from above "A license is required to export the rifle scopes to most [/u] destinations in order to ensure that the scopes will not be used to violate human rights." My destination does not violate any US laws.. Is no one willin...

Cortland, I didn't provide links for this list; (ITAR) Department of Export (EAR) Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls Department of State and U.S. Department of Commerce but they regulate the civilian stuff and it doesn't fall into their jurisdiction. Again.. NATO is NOT a mili...

Short.
From the Leupold website; Found here http://www.leupold.com/resources/product_service.htm A: "We are required under U.S. law to obtain an export license to ship riflescopes overseas." further down the page.. B: "Import/Export Licensing Requirements: A. Customers located in the follow...

Good points
All good points. Specfically I was hoping to purchase a super sniper to settle an argument about chinese scopes (i.e. put my money where my mouth was). I have Leupolds amongst others, but in the lower price bracket many people in Australia are now buying chinese knock offs. As for legalities, I am w...

Returning
Returning from the US with a civilian scope that was purchased as such, has no ramifications. If it was a current or ex military scope then it would fall within the bounds of the export restrictions. The fact that the same scope is sourced and used by the US military does not actually define it as a...

I am heading to the US in a week, and need help buying a scope from a US supplier as I don't have a US based credit card.

Has anyone used a UMPS quick connect for a silencer? I would have thought it would be difficult to maintain tolerances to have it easily slide on and off and still avoid a baffle strike, unless you open up the holes throughout the can - which if I understand US law correctly means you need a form or...

Rob, Negative posts are what made this place what it is.. If I was based in the US  and you loaned me your (regularly calibrated) test gear I would happily step up and point out the positives and the negatives of each product as they came along! Please rescind your donation statement :D It will...

WTB Ruger M77 bolt
Hi Guys, I am chasing a Ruger M-77 Mark 1 with tang safety to fit a .308/243 after a dissapointing encounter with a rude a$$ on ebay I come here in the hope someone may have one or know where to get a cheap second hand one. The guy in the US wouldn't ship outside the US which is ok - when asked if h...

Best Part of these threads.
While the thread begins with a poor experience from one of our members, it is very helpful to educate the rest of us. Where I am from officers are just as anal, but holding a firm grasp of the relevant law and your rights while discussing any event in a polite and professional manner goes a very ver...

Clones.
I am heading stateside in February and hope to grab a super sniper while I am there (might be difficult with shipping to a hotel room - but I'll figure something out!) There have been a lot of clones flooding my local market lately and some of them have been very high quality spurring some spectacul...

Alternative to FLV player
Guys you can also download swish and install only the codecs, this will allow you to watch .flv video files in Media Player or Zoom etc etc
install custom, then untick the middle box so you don't install the trial player.

Cracks me up
The thing that cracks me up about the whole ar15.com, I have visited the site once from a link here and didn't even bother reading the thread :D There are too many forums, and most (not all) have the exact same kind of people frequenting them.. Perhaps I lurk too often, but it is to a select few for...

I don't take it personally. but I do wonder about the intelligence of codifying a rifle scope as weaponary or encryption software as a restricted export!. But then again ADI in Australia make trail blazer powder - and won't sell a single grain to their own citizens! they have to export it to the US ...

Review.
PaleDaddy, How did you go actually shooting the scopes? Given that SWFA won't ship outside the USA then I have no problems purchasing items that were legally made in their host country and I can LEGALLY import them into mine. Thus, we have a global marketplace where competitiveness rules the day. So...
