Twist for subsonic 5.7x28.
I'm looking into getting a Contender barrel (MGM) for my G2 SBR in 5.7x28 for shooting heavy subsonic .224 bullets suppressed. A 70 grain bullet at 1050 fps has 171 ft-lbs at the muzzle; far better than any subsonic 22lr. I'm thinking that a 3-4 grain powder charge in the 5.7x48 will be nearly as qu...

Re: Booster advice
I used the SD Tactical on a 45 caliber suppressor I made. The tube and K baffles are aluminum. I have used it on my FNX 45 Tactical and my Glock 41. It works perfectly. You take it apart to clean? How fast does it gather gunk if you only use center fire jacketed ammo in it? I'd love to use aluminum...

Candidate for Congress chops AR-15 barrel; is investigated.
A Candidate for Congress cut down her AR-15 barrel in a video posted to Facebook and is being investigated for making an SBR without BATFE authorization. https://www.facebook.com/KarenMallardForVA/?hc_ref=ARTrdPMeOMDHoJ_nBGFsezCiGzxF3l7Sok5ET8A_1pzwxnowaXyITVRZu51BZewkbrk&fref=nf http://www.valleyne...

Re: How far have you driven for a conjugal visit?
When WA was an "own but no use allowed" state I would pack up a gun case along with ammo and silencers if I was traveling to a friendlier state. WA to VA was the greatest distance I traveled to shoot suppressed.

Re: Silencer use by LE/MIL
Military and LEO are always exempt from the same gun laws as the rest of us by default. Not always. In WA until 2011 the silencer use ban applied to police as well as the rest of us. It took the combination of a Democrat sponsor and the police showing up at committee hearings to support the bill to...

Re: 12 Bump stocks used by Vegas shooter
So what would be more effective in the Mandalay Bay shooting scenario? Aimed fire in semi-auto or spray and pray using bump fire? While he was aiming at a large group of people over 1000 feet away, it's possible that many of his shots went wide of the target. Did use of his slide fire stocks actuall...

Don't some states have different (from the feds) definitions for firearms and silencers? Would this gun be legal in CA and NJ?

Ranb, you should post your work on Submariner Life. I bet that several here would be interested in reading it. And probably Tens of Thousands more, it's just a matter of getting it exposure so that they know that it's available. :D That it a good idea. It is one thing to write short stories, quite ...

Re: FREE--Pro 2nd Amendment political thriller novel on Amazon
I finished the book. My comments are below. Page 10. Says Sanford probably drives instead of flies as "It would be far too challenging and time-consuming to take the pistol on a plane." I'm not aware of anything that makes taking a pistol in checked luggage challenging. It is very rare that the TSA ...

Reading it now; a review will follow. 99 cents books on Amazon are nice. So far it is not exactly the type of book I would normally read, but it is absolutely not a waste of time and so far a decent read.

But how does it control them like long guns instead of something like handguns or any other non-nfa firearm?doubloon wrote:Agreed.
It removes them from the definition of firearms.

Re: hearing protection act
I'm not really understanding how this bill makes silencers like long guns as opposed to handguns. What am I missing? Thanks. (a) In General.--Section 5845(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking ``(7) any silencer'' and all that follows through ``; and (8)'' and inserting ``;...

New to suppressors. I can not take mine apart to clean it. Can I just clean the bore when I clean my rifle, or would I, (and the can) be better off spending the money on a sonic cleaner. Thanks for the advice. Weigh it. If it hasn't gained more than a few grams, then it doesn't need cleaning. My ce...

Re: Comment: Spectre II vs Sparrow (vs. Amphibian vs. Oasis-P vs
I've always wanted to clock the speed of these integrally suppressed Rugers and today I got my chance. A guy showed up at the range with a Gemtech Oasis. The aluminum Oasis was several inches shorter and much lighter than my own form 1 Ruger MKii. My design is 17" long and the stainless tube adds mu...

"Home grown"? Examine the beliefs of the household he grew up in. I wish I could, but the Mateen's parents aren't saying very much. This guy was in his 30's. The perp was born in NY in 1986, his parents probably entered the USA during the Carter or Reagan presidencies. It appears that most of our violence is home grown and not likely be affected by relatively few muslim refugees entering the country.

The words I've heard were "assault weapon" and the dreaded "AK-15".
50 dead. US citizen (born in NY) of Afghan descent is the perp. I've read he was a licensed security guard.

I have a 8 K-baffle can that when I screw it onto my Walther P22 it's as quiet as a church mouse, but when I screw it onto my Ruger 10/22 rifle it seems a heck of a lot louder.
