Re: Buyer beware of Advanced Armament/an ongoing experience
I said this on Arfcom a while ago, but AAC is basically in the shitter. They claim to have brought in "some of Remington's best talent" but here's what they've given us lately: 1. Cancelled the Tirant 9, the country's most popular and quietest 9mm silencer, in favor of a new model which is louder in...

Re: 51T Concussion Reduction Device like the FERFRANS CRD
First, it wasn't fgi, you meant atf. They ruled the 18t springs and 51t latches were silencer parts. With the release of the blast shield, they are not going to be silencer only parts. However, you still cannot physically change the latch yourself. If you think you can, you'll probably ruin the can...

Re: 51T Concussion Reduction Device like the FERFRANS CRD
You (AAC) should really really move to making the latch pin a threaded hex screw to make the latch user-replaceable (and easier for the factory to replace). there are SO MANY bad latches out there, and more and more continue to be put out that this would help a lot of people. My understanding was t...

As noted above, you could also shorten your barrel a couple inches prior to threading if the length would remain legal.

They still tell you a pending date but the definition has changed. It used to be when your form was assigned to an examiner, now I think it is the date they deposit your check, since most pending dates are now a day or two before the check is cashed in your bank account.

Re: Flying with a suppressor
I'm not a huge 3 gunner, but cans are not good for most high-speed sport shooting. They make your gun heavier and slower to point, generally don't reduce recoil or muzzle rise as well as a naked muzzle brake, and gas you in the face.

Re: 2013 AAC thread specsheet - 0.563" minimum shoulder
ADCO uses .560" as their bare minimum. Yes, a too-small shoulder provides insufficient surface for silencer mounting and can deform, ride over, etc.

Re: Cleaning baffles with stainless steel pins???
Some claim that SS pins are fine on aluminum, but other reliable sources have found dimensional changes on aluminum backed and threads after tumbling. On SS or Ti baffles, it appears safer.

Agree with above. It sounds like your rifle is over gassed. I have your buffer usually improve this. Try an H2 or H3.

Re: Getting the sheriff to sign?
I don't let others barrow my guns for common sense reasons of liability so why would I let them borrow my NFA items... Just curious on that one. What liability? If you would let your wife use a 20" rifle without you present, you should let her use a 14" rifle without you present. There is no additi...

Re: Subsonic
You might not know, but you can actually use a chronograph for things other than determining what rounds are subsonic in your gun. I do know that. Here are some other things I know: 1. OP asked about factory ammo. He doesn't reload. 2. OP isn't tuning any loads for a specific target velocity. 3. If...

Yes. .22LR cans require cleaning fairly frequently. There are like 5 ways to do it, but most of them will damage aluminum.

Re: Getting the sheriff to sign?
Well, for starters, many people do not live in a place where the sheriff will sign. For those people, a trust or corporation is the only option. If your sheriff will sign forms, really the only "pro" is that you can avoid the paperwork and cost of setting up a trust or corporation. But the list of "...

Re: Subsonic
Yeah, why would anyone want a chronograph when they can just make stuff up? What about "absence of sonic crack = subsonic" is made up? Unless you do some complicated math involving temperature, barometric pressure, elevation, etc. you don't actually know the precise speed of sound at your range dur...

Right, so who would buy an unnecessary thing instead of five boxes of ammo?
and if you buy the chrono you still have to buy the ammo.

Re: How would you rephrase the 2nd Amend to modern language?
Robert got the most important point: that no reason should be stated. The existing 2A is perfect except for its confusing and unnecessary preamble. The 2A should simply read, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Re: Getting checked for legal silencer and stamp
I think that's probably true. The handful of LEOs I've encountered have usually just thought my stuff is "awesome" or "cool," they've never asked to see the papers. Most of them aren't gun guys so they ask the same questions as the general public (ie, "was it hard to get your Class 3 license?").

I guess you guys shoot at different kinds of ranges from me. At our range it's never a problem to find a quieter area so you're not shooting right next to a guy with a .300WM. An I still say you don't need a chrono for this. It's not the end of the world if you pick some ammo and find out that it cr...

I haven't. Our club shooting hours stop at dusk so unless I'm on a friend's land I rarely do any night shooting.

Re: Register the suppressor to a corporation??
That's the bigger deal, IMO. Trust vs Corp for NFA ownership makes no real difference, the difference is whether it's hard or easy to start/maintain a corporation in your state. Some states you just drop off papers once. Others require corporate paperwork and taxes every year, and if you forget, you...
