Re: #4 Buckshot is 'best'?
I've always stuck with the FBI(?) advice to use #1 - when I researched this a few years ago, #1 was deemed the smallest size pellets that reliably penetrate the recommended 12" in ballistic gel. My only gripe is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of selection and local availability for #...

Re: Everybody! Have you heard?
California cop, 52, who raped a 75-year-old stroke victim in her senior apartment complex has been sentenced to life in prison (In case you don't want to chase the link just to find out what the story is about.) That story is incredibly disturbing. I only wish that things like this still had the po...

I fully expect a bunch of hand-wringing up-to and shortly-after the law goes into effect, but the fervor will die down and everything will go back to business as usual.

I absolutely agree with the death penalty on principle, but things like this further strengthen my believe that government cannot be entrusted with the the power.

Re: Texas sheriff slams release of video showing hands up shooting
If the video exonerated the officer, they'd be rushing to release it. This smells like the instance we just had in Dallas recently where a guy wandered into a police station (high as a kite), resisted officers, and was killed in the struggle. DPD had video of that instance and [predictably] it didn'...

Re: Ten rounds would not be enough
I agree that the homeless guy wouldn't have realistically had a chance to draw, even if he were armed (which would be weird for a homeless guy anyway). But if we're in bizarro world where homeless people possess some training and whose sole worldly possession is a firearm... He wouldn't have needed ...

Re: Daylight saving time: What if it's all a big fat waste of ti
I think we all have a duty as able-bodied, red-blooded Americans to abolish this absurd Daylight Savings Time thing. We must exhaust all options - up to and including another civil war - to end the madness.

Re: Does AAC make their own pistol barrels?
It doesn't really matter - I was just curious. I've seen some folks complain about the quality of M&P barrels - aftermarkets seem to be pretty popular. My M&P is more accurate than I am with the factory barrel, but I was just wondering whether or not the AAC barrel I just bought was made in ...

Does AAC make their own pistol barrels?
I recently picked up an AAC threaded barrel for my M&P9 and I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether or not AAC machines the whole thing at their facilities, or if they buy blanks or whatever from S&W, cut them to appropriate length, and then throw on the threading?

Re: Place your bet on type of Texas open carry law to pass
Could it be that the failure to take a vote was just a punitive response to all the OCTC jackassery we've been seeing lately? I remember a few months back when the admin of TexasCHLForum (he's a lawyer that is heavily involved with gun rights in Texas) posted a warning - lawmakers were saying that i...

Sniper1 is absolutely right about the guy banking on you not wanting to relive the nightmare, and you of course recognized th...

Re: Why is NBC’s ‘The Blacklist’ So Anti-Gun?
One of my coworkers has been trying to get me to watch Blacklist for forever. He tends to like garbage prime-time major-network throw-away shows, so I never rush to watch anything he recommends. I'll count this as another show he loves that I will skip.

Re: Barack Hussein Ebola
Lock down the borders. Really. You'd have the president shut off international trade. Cripple the economy. That'd be rich. I mean... poor. The USA would grind to a halt within weeks. Stopping the issuance of visas from affected areas might work, provided no one circumvents such an order by lying......

Re: Ebola victim to be charged in Liberia for lying on healt
I understand the powerful instinct to stay alive, but I cannot imagine putting so many strangers at risk just to save my own hide. Thomas Duncan is a scumbag - if he lives through this, I hope Liberia throws the book at him. I also suspect that if he survives, Thomas Duncan will never step foot in L...

Re: Barack Hussein Ebola
It's definitely not "his fault", but he sure isn't doing all he can to get ahead of this thing. I would expect any leader worth his salt to *at least* stop issuing visas to anyone from Liberia (or even better, all of West Africa). The warning shot has been fired with this - just a few mile...

Re: Wallace to Ben Carson: Wouldn’t you be just another inex
I really like Carson, but I don't believe for a minute he possesses the capacity to passionately convey our message - he's just too soft-spoken and reserved. I also do not believe that the sort of leadership that "gets it done" in the OR directly translates to Leader of the Free World. Wal...

Wow, they are really treating that guy like s--t. It's quite telling how brazen they are about detailing why the guy is being profiled.
