I've been down range about 45 degrees from the bullet path... 30 feet away... and an AR15 is painful to the ears.Bendersquint wrote: I have been down range when supersonic has been fired within 10 feet and it didn't sound like the Hollywood noise.

A can "in stock" is worth TEN that can be ordered. If you plan to order a can and hope to have it by 2nd qtr of next year... be ready for disappointment.

I wouldn't TOUCH the port until test firing it. If it runs now, it's likely to be about right with a shorter dwell and the added pressure of the suppressor.

Unless you're involved in criminal activity or your weapon is at a dealer/ffl/SOT during an ATF audit... NO ONE will ever care.

Re: The distance at which a "sonic crack" is created...
Firing a suppressed AR in a structure is about as loud as shooting a 9mm pistol out in the open with no ear pro on.... it IS LOUD for sure. I did this a few weeks ago in a structure with no windows or doors in place... i.e. the structure was somewhat open. I fired a single shot to get a taste, and W...

Re: Gas driven SBR ARs and suppressors....
Piston garbage is infinitely more problematic. Sounds like the issue may indeed be a buffer selection solution. Just because these ignorant monkies don't know what they're doing doesn't mean the Colt guns weren't right. The Colt MK18 style guns are not sold so easily by Specialized Armament for this...

Yeah... A cut down barrel is going to have completely different harmonics and require load work up from scratch.continuity wrote: It sucks though, when a nice shooting rifle no longer works with the ammo of choice.

Re: what is the difference between a vld bullet and a boat t
We shoot all of the bullets through suppresors. VLDs are depth sensitive. They can be squirrelly if seated at the wrong distance off the lands. VLDs have a secant ogive... SMKs have a tangent ogive. SMKs will self align better and are not depth sensitive. But they have a lower Ballistic Coefficient.

On my buddy's 308 and 300WM 5R bolt guns... he just runs the AAC 51t mounts. The 2 chamber AAC brake is actually pretty good and taming the 300WM. It's less obnoxious than a Holland brake, but still really effective.smitty wrote: MarkM, which AAC mounts are you talking about?

That silencer company that made the backwards compatible AAC mountable can did the staggered tine lengths to eliminate their ping.
I forget their company name. But I saw a video from SHOT show.
