Re: silencer shop question

i personally feel that any one that can make something that is quality and can market as good or better then aac could make suppressors and be right up their with the big dogs bumping elbow's and all that. i think personally aac is the industry standard... i honestly do... i personally would love to...

This actually works well. Easy to repeat a progressive radias for the cone.

Re: Anyone who has machined Omega-style baffles

What dremel tool bit did you use to grind the stainless? The fiberglass reenforced cutting wheels will cut through it. If you are going through all the troubles of a form 1 build and machining the baffles on a lathe, why would you Dremel the rest of the operations when you can easily and accurately...

Re: silencer shop question

how do you measure your tools like in my nc lathe i have a tool eye i can "beep" boring bars and turn tools off on. I just touch off on a setup part . . . . the X value stays the same for a given tool (with minor adjustments in wear over time) and the Z can be set the same way if its important. If ...

Re: silencer shop question

Your showing your age NC is NOT the same as CNC The 1st C stands for computer As for doing work for the big silencer mfgs I have (am the owner) of a bona-fide machine shop. With full bore CNC mills and lathes. With names like Mori seiki and Hardinge. I tried (not very hard)to get some work in this ...

Re: silencer shop question

i looked that up... a proto trak is a little thing you attach to a manual machine and it makes it nc how ever i think its kinda silly to be honest cause how would you beep your tools off ? ( pre set ?) Huh? http://www.southwesternindustries.com/swi/Products.shtml These are ProtoTRAK machines (I gue...

Re: silencer shop question

How about starting off with small prototyping machines? If there is a market for your designs and are worth mass producing, acquire some larger scale CNC machinery. I would go with a ProtoTrax machine without a doubt. Simple enough that non-CNC machinists can use it but the machine itself is comple...

Re: silencer shop question

ok so another question comes to mind... If you had joe down the street cutting your tubes and baffles and your just refinishing boxing and selling the cans and he has to have an ffl/07 and keep books does that also mean you have to wait for the tubes to transfer from him to you so that you can assem...

Re: silencer shop question

Hi, That’s a very interesting point. Now, before starting a new business (no matter what it is) you have to look at the actual market. There is no data available regarding Suppressors Market but if you give for true that 10% of USA Guns (Privately owned) got a Suppressor (what I don’t really know) ...

Re: silencer shop question

I guess it all depends on how much capital and loans you can get to start the business. Before you start cranking out parts anyways, you will need a proven design. How about starting off with small prototyping machines? If there is a market for your designs and are worth mass producing, acquire som...

silencer shop question

So i have been thinking... with all the different types of suppressors that all the big manufacturers are making they must have massive machine shops to make all the baffles.. tubes.. qd muzzle brakes end caps and on top of that to anodize, or paint on finishes ( cannot think of that type of paint m...

Re: have you ever cleaned ur suppressor with ......

MEK is Methyl ethyl ketone. It is an ingredient in paint thinner. If you soak it, in this stuff, you will more than likely remove any finish that is on the suppressor. If you want to soak it in anything, use Automatic transmission fluid. It will dissolve the carbon, it is safe for aluminum and fini...

have you ever cleaned your (aluminum baffled ) suppressor with the following: MEK SEAFOAM INJECTOR CLEANER MARVELS MYSTERY OIL I know mek is aggressive but the last i read it was safe for aluminum, so why not ? i have been using atf and mineral spirits and it does a so so job ( works best on new sup...

Re: AAC DEFENDER SUPPRESSOR: The locking device

That came out very nice.. :D That JB weld looks like really nice stuff..Good save there on the can! thanks, the key way isnt needed if you tighten the cap like i describe the suppressor has a less chance of rotating they key is just icing on the cake and a sure thing, but i did shoot with out a key...

Re: AAC DEFENDER SUPPRESSOR: The locking device

Hey very cool and well done! Were you the one that had the ring there with the little tab bent? Don't forget to get a pic of the can.. :D yup thats me and as you can see i fixed the tab, i took a 1/16 drill bit and drilled a hole in the face of the key body then stuck of all things a cut down reloa...

Thanks for showing that! I've been wondering what it looked like inside there. AAC DEFENDER SUPPRESSOR: The locking device

well here is a small update to my AAC DEFENDER posts, I have some pictures I am going to explain to you. here we have the locking "end cap" sitting beside the "key", note the actual key sticking up and out of the face its self, the key has a angle in its face as well, that angle mates up with the um...

Re: Gemtech UMP Suppressor

Go back to hkpro if you can't believe HK fucked up. Don't blame gemtech, they're absolutely correct. I've seen some thoughtless posts (from you Jack actually) at hkpro, but this one is just plain dumb. HK used an inferior mount style compared to three lug. It's a known issue that the German barrels...

Re: shooting my usc/ump suppressed ( aac defender )

I have a Kriss Super V that gives me 6" of downward POI change with a suppressor. This is at 15 yards. I also have a Mac 10/45 that has no POI change with a can. I think a lot is in how the barrel is threaded and concentricity of the bore axis to the suppressor. I have an hk ump barrel so no thread...

Re: shooting my usc/ump suppressed ( aac defender )

no but dont fret when the form 4 passes i will be refinishing the suppressor with kg, when i do this i will be taking the suppressor a part and at that time plan on doing a 100 % full review both on how the suppressor works, how to assemble how to break down for cleaning and how to repair, and on to...
