Re: 300 blackout barrels manufactures and questions

I guess what I'm asking is, like the earlier post, has anyone built one using a longer FF tube that shrouds the can, and avoided the SBR tax? Not that I could find... also, the longest FF rails I could find are 15" and I'm not sure that is long enough since they measure from the breechface of the c...

This extended hand-guard idea definitely has me thinking.
Is anyone, or HAS anyone that you guys know about on this board tried it with favorable results?

Re: Model 1 Sales on the 300 BLK and thier 300 fp barrels.

I think non-floated barrels are a big part of the lack of accuracy people are getting out of ARs. Sure, terrible barrels won't help. But when you can see the barrel move as a person shifts their grip.. what are you expecting to happen downrange? I have been happy with stock triggers on most of my A...

Re: Model 1 Sales on the 300 BLK and thier 300 fp barrels.

My first "kit" was a M1S similar to Glock-N-Rolls. It was very functional and fine in accuracy. At the time, M1S was using ER Shaw barrels. I haven't had any real issues with the parts and everything fit fine. Really, the only issues would be crap small parts and crappy trigger group. I never use s...

Here are some pics of my infamous $1200 M1S AR. It has the stock trigger that has been cleaned up with a JP string kit and is a shooter. Notice in that group, it's 62 grain golden bear. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5083/dsc0393oz2.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7103/p1010074...

Re: Model 1 Sales on the 300 BLK and thier 300 fp barrels.

The crap stamped out (whatever) trigger parts, unless fit at a manufacturer, have been ok at best. It just doesn't hurt to put good parts in it. I used to like RRA 2 stage, but really gound JP singles work best for me. Jerry Miculek puts AR gold triggers in all his rigs, and I like them and Gisele a...

Re: Model 1 Sales on the 300 BLK and thier 300 fp barrels.

My one and only M1S kit rifle I built started double or tripple tapping after less than 50 rounds. Disconnect spring was our of round and was sticking on itself when compressed. T I'm assuming that was an easy fix. Such is the problem with any kit, no matter what you are building, custom bolt-on su...

Re: Model 1 Sales on the 300 BLK and thier 300 fp barrels.

I have built way too many ar-15 rifles for customers over the years, I have had nothing but problems every time I get a customer need to save money on their build so they decide to use Model-1 parts. For an example I installed a lower parts kit and it went full auto after only 300 rounds for one cu...

Re: 300 blackout barrels manufactures and questions

I want a 16", stricktly for subsonics... am I to expect 8" twist to be my best option? Not sure about 3 grove, seems like you need at least 5 to stabilize it... but I'm not certain on that and have no experience with this caliber, or 300 whisper for that matter. All I know is the 18.5" .308 10" twi...

Re: 300 blackout barrels manufactures and questions

I'm still sold on the idea of putting a 16" BBL on my Salvage, otherwise this would be a perfect solution for me!

If you guys know of a smoking deal for .300AAC blackout barrels that fit a 10FP accutrigger, that I can order threaded to my AWC spec, I'm ready w/cash in hand.

Re: 300 blackout barrels manufactures and questions

Since you're looking strictly subs, why not go 9" with a 7" barrel-shroud to contain that thread-on can ala Tacsol SBX, then the overall length would be ~16" with the can without paying the SBR tax. I was thinking for an AR something like this would be cool: http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/imag...

Re: Companies who are making 300 AAC BLACKOUT products

What's the best option for my salvage 10FP? I think the only thing I need to do is swap to a .223 bolt face and get a new BBL, correct? If Shilen or PacNor plans to offer pre-fit barrels for the chambering, that would likely be your best route. Don't forget about a .223 floor plate assembly or box ...
