Re: Drilling Perfect Hole in Round Bar

Or spot face it with an end mill and drill.

If it needs to be really precise; spot face with end mill, drill with centering spot drill, drill with undersized short drill, drill with undersized full length drill, finish with reamer.

Re: Death in family, transfer question

IIRC, when form 5 is filed, a death cert may be needed with it as well. Whoever the executor is, is legal to be in possession until all the paperwork clears. The form 5 should have an instruction sheet with it, along with the current paperwork, filling it out should be pretty straight forward. This ...

Yup, paper forms come back in the mail.

I'd venture next Aug at the current rate.

You could call probably March time frame just to check to see the status to make sure it is entered in the system.

Re: Which way to go on silencer purchase?

1) it doesn't matter what the CLEO has to say, you just inform them now. No need for an approval signature. 2) the answer is always buy now, the wait will never get shorter than it is right now. If the HPA passes, great go in and pick up what you already paid for. The stamp can be canceled and refun...

Re: Trust in from TX and im in GA filing for F1?

Trusts don't have addresses, how do you think people on trusts who live in different states do it? Anyway, when all else fails, read the instructions. The address that goes on the form (1 or 4 makes no difference in how it's done) is where the weapon will live. Use the address of the location the we...

Re: 300blk blast chamber size (I searched)

It's just a guess as I have no experience in 300 blk, BUT as close to the muzzle as possible with a little space for cushion.

With a bolt gun you don't have to worry about back pressure so a minimal size blast chamber would help significantly with frp.

Re: 2 Stage Suppressor Legality Questions For The Pro's.

Did some more digging with "modular" as a search criteria instead of "two stage". Found a lot more information . Here's a thread from this site that was a good read. Lot of saying it can't be done, but no posting of actual law to back it up. You won't find any either because it's not written in law...

Re: 2 Stage Suppressor Legality Questions For The Pro's.

+1 In the form 1 world, you are not allowed to build "spare parts" or have "extra parts" If you can't buy it commercially, you made it. If you made it for the purposes of being included in a silencer design, it is by all means a silencer part and therefore a silencer on its own. You made that part -...

Re: 2 Stage Suppressor Legality Questions For The Pro's.

Changing endcaps by the use of endcap bushings + threaded adapters, Changing exit bore by the use of the same with pieces conveniently used in non-silencer brakes, and modular silencer design are all relatively new designs that have been allowed thanks to manufacturers flirting with the line and des...

Like I said, it's an ATF opinion that every part of a silencer is a silencer in and of itself. Re: What if I use an NFA weapon for self defense?

I would never clear the other weapon (if it was even a firearm), but when LEO hit the scene they don't know who the bad guy is. All they likely know is there is a threat and they need to intervene. If I had any mental capacity after such an incident, I would do everything in my power to not look lik...

Re: 2 Stage Suppressor Legality Questions For The Pro's.

Silencer is defined as the silencer itself, and any combination of part used to create a silencer. ATF holds that that means any part of a silencer is a silencer. ATF also holds that if you build a silencer and have spare parts, that equates to having another silencer. Manufacturers have the ability...

The normal process is for the seller to retain possession of the NFA until the buyer is approved. The ATF understands the seller will have possession for a short time after approval. Exactly. And, OP, the reason for paying all up front is, once the paperwork is done, it is now yours regardless of w...

Re: Removing an SBR from the scope of the NFA

BATFE has never released an official "ok" to say that returning a SBR to an original pistol configuration removes it from its SBR status and out of the purvue of the NFA. It would be a safer, more conservative, approach to perm attach something like a fake silencer to get the barrel length over 16 i...

For instance here in OH, silencers are considered "Deadly Ordinance" Deadly Ordinance is illegal by law, but federally approved devices are legal through affirmative defense. Thus, the burden of proof is on the individual, and an approved form is your stay out of jail card....

A 9mm with good fast burning powder and jacketed projectiles will not need much cleaning, but take apart cans and cleaning are the fads of the day. If you are moving within the same state you don't need to notify BATFE for anything. Only interstate moves require a .20 As for the form 4, call the dealer and ask if it will be a problem if your address changes.
