A live fire is on my list of "s--t to do". It does run really nice with a firing rate of 725 RPM (shot timer). The gun is basically done. I swapped the Kobra sight for an Eotech. I have a 9mm conversion about 80 % finished. I have to mod some sten mags and a Suomi drum mag and it will be cheaper to ...

Old joke potato related- Two guys go to the beach. One always leaves with a couple girls and the other guy leaves by himself. The one guy asks "how is it you always get the girls"? The other guy hands him a potato and says "next time you go to the beach stick this down your pants". The next day the ...

I would love to see more of the manufacturing process. I am a toolmaker by trade and have been programming CMM inspection equipment lately.
I would REALLY like to see more of the optical inspection system used and the welder you guys are using. Tech geek, sorry!

An obstacle course? When you're in manufacturing, every day is an obstacle course. Man,that is an understatement! You can make one million parts and have a 1 PPM defect rate. Guess which one and the only one you will hear about? Along with material costs, manufacturing time, quality concerns, deliver...

Silver soldering is really brazing. Solder is what you do to copper pipes. A good braze can be as good as a weld. Some jet engine turbines are brazed, and this is a much more demanding service than most welds will ever see. You can make a good career out of high tech brazing if you are skilled and ...

Mongo-

You are correct sir.

I still have the tat but the original gun (powder springs MAC) is long gone.
It kind of turned into this:

I am liking the appearance of the monolithic stack. I was curious how it compares to a "K" baffle in the same given volume / tube length.

Best .223 baffle design

What is the best baffle to use for a .223 can ? I am flexible on tube diameter and length. I was trying to stay around 8" in length and a 1 1/2 to 1 5/8 diameter tube. I was going to take advantage of the AAC free can for a tattoo but they pulled the plug early so it's back to the original plan of t...

Quick attach/release or 1/2-28 threads?

I have a Sig 556 I plan on building a new can for. I have read of some alignment problems with the QD flash hider mounts. Versatility of using a standard 1/2-28 thread would allow use on a larger range of guns.

What would you choose (opinions please).

Good advices so far But sins its for a one part job buying a 4 chuck might be overkill If you own a lathe, you *need* to own a 4-jaw chuck. It's not overkill, if you use the lathe you'll use that chuck again, and again... A 3-jaw on the other hand is just a convenience. GsT The other option is to f...

I am a toolmaker by trade and have equipment at home as well. Your 3 jaw chuck will be your best friend about 95% of the time. A 4 jaw is a must have as well. Your best bet would be to bore your chuck jaws on your machine. Get some dykem bluing or use a sharpie marker and color up your jaw surfaces....

Ideas for my new .223 can

Greetings all~ I am planning on doing a new form 1 to build a new .223 can for my SIG556 rifle. I am not new to building suppressors or conversion work. A while back I sold my M16A2 rifle and AWC CQB suppressor so I am familiar with that performance level. I previously did a form 1 build for my curr...
