OBSIDIAN with 9mm end cap

I've had an Obsidian .45 since they came out. Love it and how quiet it is. I like to use foamy spray white lithium as an ablative. That stuff makes any can sound better. Anyway I bought a 9mm end cap when I could get one, already had the piston and put it on my Sig MK25 with a factory threaded barre...

Re: Disappointed in new can

I specifically use 147 grain rounds listed at 985 fps, so there shouldn't be any chance of environment bringing the rounds supersonic. I'm looking for a loud "thwack" instead of a medium "bang!". There's more to quiet ammo than just velocity. Different powders burn differently and can have a very n...

Re: Disappointed in new can

Go shoot it outside. Federal American Eagle 147 subsonic ammo sucks... it's inherently loud. You have a good platform for testing suppressors, it's what Tyler from Silencer Shop uses a lot of the time in his videos. I think it's that you are shooting it inside. Even shooting outside at the range, wh...

Re: Kinda new to the whole, thing. GM-45.

Strongly suggest that you sell your GM-45 for whatever you can get for it and buy a Liberty Mystic X, or a Cosmic (more versatile, has a core hole big enough for .45), an AAC Tirant 9M or 45M (again, more versatile as it, is designed for .45 but easily and efficiently shoots 9mm), a Rugged Obsidian ...

Re: Help me decide -Poll

The Rugged Surge can't be beat. As another member often quotes "I don't care what your chart says" so I say the same about testing of suppressors... especially from the companies that sell them. I have retained excellent hearing through my many decades and I and my friends know what we like as far a...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

I still believe that AAC is wrong on the baffle issue. I can't find anything where they could not rebaffle or recore a suppressor. Send it to someone else next time. I believe any SOT manufacturer can help do the job. I could be wrong, but AAC may have been holding out due to the liability of the l...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

They Can Not shorten the tube to less than what the length of the complete unit is listed on your Form 4 or Form 3. This would constitute "making a new suppressor" and you would have to get a new tube with a new serial number and pay another $200. If they did it, then the ATFness falls on them. Jus...

Re: Lost Baffle, Bad customer service.

Just ask AAC to shorten the tube for the remaining baffles. That should end the pissing contest. He did! Dec 8 @ 2048hrs. [quote="Heavy_D"]Good evening all, This is my first suppressor and I will not be identifying the maker as I'm not here to bash anyone. Re: Gemtech GM9 suppressor

I recently picked up a GM-45 and am more than happy with it. The 3 other people who have shot it thought it sounded pretty good to. Quite frankly, I read this thread after I purchased the GM-45, which really freaked me out about the quality of the series of suppressor. That said, given the posted h...

Re: Gemtech GM9 suppressor

Gemtech hasn't returned any calls from last week. I had a long phone conversation with Bender today, and have no doubt my GM9 will really perform when he's done with it. I'm shipping it to him tomorrow. I know it'll be in good hands. What was the end result of you talking with SR? Did you send the ...

I'll give you a nickel if you can get gemtech to tell you who makes it for them. We both know good and well that gemtech doesn't. Sorry, that was sarcasm. Just buy some CCI. I did buy, ahem, a bit of CCI standard when it finally became available up at normal prices here after Sandy Hook fever died ...

Re: Gemtech .22 Ammo

The GemTech .22 subsonic is loud to me and my friends. S&B and Aquilla subs are far, far quieter and just as accurate when shooting a C-zone steel at 25 yards. One is usually not playing bullseye when shooting a .22 pistol with a suppressor.

Re: Gemtech GM9 suppressor

I feel the same way about my GM-45.. It's LOUD... especially the first shot. Only full of ablative does it fall under the level of pain. It is by far the loudest 45 suppressor I have ever sold or shot. Even the older AWC can meant to be packed with lithium grease is way quieter! I do have a Quicksan...

Re: Thoughts on Gemtech Quality Control & Customer Service

I've had good luck with GemTech over the years and I guess I've always liked the fact that Doc Dater was there. The rep I use, even today when the corporate directory tries to steer you over to a kid who works for Smith and Wesson, has been there a long time and has helped me with every purchase and...

Re: Rugged Oculus vs Dead Air Mask (Metered)

For my purposes, I will sometimes use a cheaper dB meter to sort of "confirm" what I am hearing. I don't put it up against any stated numbers but for side by side comparisons it can offer at least some insight. i.e. metering 120 on can A vs 125 on Can B, when can A reads 120.5, 119.9, 119.7, 120.1,...
