Re: Purchasing 17-4

That's a good price per inch, but that is a lot of steel. :D

Re: Purchasing 17-4

I ended up placing an order with onlinemetals.com. They had a 20% discount code available.

I was having issues checking out and found a "Go to classic site" button at the top. Clicked on that and the prices were even lower. Saved $40!!

Re: Purchasing 17-4

As long as I can get the stick without paying freight.

Bummer. That site doesn't have the sizes I'm looking for.

Re: Purchasing 17-4

I am looking for a couple sizes in long sticks. I keep finding sites that want me to request a quote and was really hoping to hear of a place that is decent in price before giving out information.

@ECCO where do you get your material?

Re: subsonic powders

I was about to ask if Enforcer was going to be to fast of a powder, then I looked at the burn rate chart. Everything you're using is at the top of the list! I know you said you've used it before, so that is where I'd go.

Gives you an idea how they are made. Like Ecco said, protect the barrel from the screws.

Would more cones filling up volume be the better route to go?

Re: Help threading barrel

Does your lathe have a spider?

Is the spindle length short enough and bore big enough to fit the barrel through?

There are a couple decent (need to dig to find them) youtube videos that show how to accurately indicate a barrel that would be worth watching.

Re: 9x39 project

I would think that 1.48" of blast chamber is too much. Looks like you are going direct thread, so why not tighten it up a bit. With the Aegis cones, if you'd use a .750" spacer for the BC, and .500" for the rest and fill up the rear with more Ti cones or even aluminum, I think you'd be better off. Y...

Re: Sub $1k lathe including shipping 8x16 with 5” chuck 1.5” pass thru

Sum-bitch. Ask about having your motor if you're swapping them out and my front bearing in my motor started making noise today. I can probably blame it on myself since I tensioned the s--t out of the belt when I had one roll on me a while back. That and I'm sure it is a cheap bearing. Hopefully I'll...

If you're swapping motors, let me know. I'd be interested in having a spare.

Did you check the fuse on the back side just above the power cord?

I can't answer that because I have only had the opportunity to use two lathes. This one and my HF 7x12.

By posting in this forum and asking these questions, the ATF will be by in the next week or so. They keep close tabs and own this forum. :P Form 1's are to manufacturer a gun/silencer. Form 4's are to purchase SBRs/silencers/machine guns/other NFA items. To make your gun into an SBR and to make a si...

When turning on the lathe, everything ends up concentric as long as all of the work is done in one setup.

Re: Creative way to drill pin wrench holes in an endcap???

This would have turned out better if I had used some drill rod in the correct size instead of turning down a piece of metal I had on hand.

Just the holder and a couple bushings.

Tough to tell what depth your groove is already, but either the threading tool or the neutral tool should fit in there.

Still, there is a lot of stick out from the chuck without tailstock support.
