My current design screws onto a modified ar15 flash suppressor, so it is a two-point mount, with the points a little over an inch apart. There will be spacers up to the blast baffle to hold things in place. This will not be a full auto can, and I rarely shoot the ar15 fast enough to make the barrel ...

I went as simple as possible on my first can. The hardest part was learning to make threads on the lathe. My 13" 300 whisper can telescopes 6" back from the muzzle. It has 6 baffles, the blast baffle is a 60 degree conical, 4 K-baffles, then one straight baffle against the end cap. The center adapto...

Thanks for the advice guys. I currently get my tubing from www.onlinemetals.com , and the barstock from anywhere I can get it cheap. I will check out the other sites. So if I use a thicker wall to weld up with, can I turn down the wall after welding to reduce weight? How thin can I go if I limit mys...

There is a noticeable bend in the tubing, I can see a gap when I lay it down on a flat surface such as my lathe bed. When I put it on the lathe and measure deflection with a micrometer while rotating, I get 0.013 inches. The tubing has a wall thickness of 0.010", I was planning on reducing thickness...

How straight is straight enough?
I am making a form 1 can for my ar15. The piece of 304 stainless tubing I have is 1.35x8", but it is about 0.013 inches off from being perfectly straight as measured when in the lathe between centers. How straight should it be? I guess I could just open up the baffles and end cap, but I would rather...

I did build the two part can for the 22lr. It is a one-point mounted can, not like the picture I have on my website. The parts shown never made it together as a functioning supppressor and it has been a while since I updated the website. http://www.geocities.com/kaiya_bird I would like to make the p...

My first two barrels I mounted a can on were SSK 300 whisper barrels, one for a contender and one for my ar15. Both were turned down about 6 inches back. The contender has 11/16-28 threads, the ar15 has 13/16-20 threads. The only problem I ever had was trying to screw on the endcap for the ar15 can ...

My first few suppressors were two-point mount cans. After I got a handle on using my lathe, it was a simple matter to make end caps that were square to with-in 1/1000th of an inch. It also helps if the barrel is straight too, not all of them out there are. I have a contender barrel that shoots rathe...

I am currantly working on an enfield with a rhineland arms barrel, and recently purchased a 458 socom upper for my ar-15. I use my 510 whisper can on the enfield. By removing the spacers and stacking the baffles at the end of the can, it is able to completely enclose the barrel nearly back to the ba...

I use the rhineland arms conversion for my SMLE. I also have a form 1 suppresor for my 510 whisper that I was able to adapt for use on the enfield. I just took out the spacers from the suppressor, and stacked the baffles at the end of the can, so they only take up about 5 inches. I contoured the 45 ...

You can have a machine shop make end caps, a slip fit and held in with setscrews, then you can play with different baffles and spacers, mucho fun! Cheep Cheep the little bird cried. :) A form 1 allows you to make one silencer, and only one. The only way you can replace any parts except for wipes is...

I have an SSK upper for my ar15. I noticed that my subsonic handloads clock about 50 fps faster with the gas port closed. I built a 13" long can out of aluminum on a form 1 that telescopes onto the barrel. The Colt 20 round mags would not hold more than 5 rounds until I milled a 1/10th inch slot in ...

Re: .500 Whisper!
Actually, it was a 510 whisper you shot. The 510W is baed on the 338, while the 500W is based on the 460 weatherby. I have a 510W barrel for my encore. A 2x18" aluminum can (form 1) I made for it makes it sound like a car door slamming. This 7.5 pound gun kicks so hard it has wrecked two scopes, dam...
