I had two SBR form 1's approved in three weeks late last year. I e-filed two form 1's for cans back on 2/9 which just got approved today in WA. ATF is slipping but still better than the record 11 month wait a while back

I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm one of those who went round and round with him on the forum and sometimes did not see eye to eye, but I'm sad to hear of his passing.

Re: ATF worked in reverse on the M855 ban
Since M855 bullet does not even come close to the federal definition of armor piercing, how can any regulatory agency claim that they are AP?

Re: Has anyone on here actually "shot out" a silencer?
I have pictures of my mostly aluminum 223 can on this site. The K baffles are heavily eroded and the can is louder than it was 8000 rounds earlier.

I made .020" spacers from aluminum for a .458 socom can with machined cone baffles. No issues but everything fits snug.

Re: 223 can embarrassingly loud now
I made two 223 cans from .035" 4130 and designed one made from 316 .049" tubing that was turned down to .035". None of them have any issues at all. They don't get glow stick hot though.

Pointy 60 degree cones. 1.5" tubing with a .049" wall from Online Metals in Seattle. I'll reduce the thickness of the tubing beyond the blast chamber to .035". The baffle stack will be welded to the front end cap to keep it all in place.

Direct thread, welded end caps, welded baffle/spacer stack, 304 or 316 tubing and bar stock.

223 can embarrassingly loud now
I posted earlier about erosion problems with my 12 year old 4130/aluminum can I made for my ar-15. I hadn't noticed that it was louder over the years until last week when I had it shot along side an OPS can. I think it was this one. http://www.opsinc.us/suppressors/3rd-Model-5.56mm.html It is time f...

Re: Bore scope photos. (large photos)
I love the scallopped edge in your 1st pic. Is this can bought or F1? If F1, how did you create the scallops? Just cross bore w end mill? The added surface area probably helps w cooling and disrupting airflow. All my cans are form 1. The muzzle brake is one I bought and modified. I had intended to ...

If you zoom in on my drawing you can see that there is an end cap between the tube and barrel to fill the gap.

Re: 10/22 can design
1" .020" thick 304 SS tubing is about 0.28 ounces per inch; 4.2 oz for a 15 inch tube or 1.7 oz for a six inch tube. I had considered buying a shrouded barrel made to contain a silencer, making and pinning my own shroud or going full length. Containing a complete silencer in a shroud is a waste of w...

Re: 10/22 can design
The baffle design is secondary to how the stack is attached to the muzzle. If I use spacers they will be used along with cone baffles. I want a combined barrel/silencer length of 16" and the ability to take it apart for cleaning. The barrel crown and tube would be cleaned every 500 rounds, the welde...

Re: 10/22 can design
I already have a thread on 22lr can with a blast cone and K's. I want to keep the overall length short for my granddaughter. The K's shown are what I normally use (ports are not shown). I'm not a fan of porting a barrel to make the ammo slower. Why use crappy cheap high velocity ammo that groups 3 i...

10/22 can design
I'm making a integral silencer for a 10/22 for my granddaughter. It will start out with a tapered SS barrel cut down to 10" with a one inch .020" 304 SS tube blind pinned to the back of the barrel to avoid the SBR tax. The baffle stack will be welded together along with the front end cap and threade...

Please ask if this ruling applies to an unlicensed person who allows another individual to use their tools without compensation. Thanks.john.t.little1 wrote:I've got a meeting in the morning with ATF If there are any questions anyone would like me to ask to clarify let me know.

Re: First ATF Ruling of 2015......applies to everyone in this forum!
Well I read the ruling twice and read through these three pages of the thread. It appears to apply to businesses and individuals who assist other unlicensed persons while making a firearm. Held, any person (including any corporation or other legal entity) engaged in the business of performing machin...

Re: Mossberg MVP w/223 subsonic
NM04 is similar in appearance and load data to Bullseye, in other words it is not bulky and burns very fast. Like Bullseye, it doesn't come close to filling any case it is used for including 9mm, 45acp or 38 special. I got mine from http://www.gibrass, I think it is surplus Chinese powder. I don't b...

Mossberg MVP w/223 subsonic
I finally got the Mossberg MVP Patrol (16" threaded barrel) out of the safe and with a little trial and error found that 3.6 grains of NM04 (like Bullseye) pushes a 55 fmj to 1050 fps. The 1-9 twist stabilizes the bullet well enough to give me 5 round groups of only 1.25". Louder than a 22lr, but mo...

I will tell you that for building a suppressor buying machine tools is the most expensive way to do it.You can hire someone to build a total custom can for thousands less. There are two main ways I promote silencer use at home in WA. I allow anyone with a host to use my silencers while I watch at t...
